Blossom and Beauty is a 15/10!! When I inquired about information for a potential wedding hair and…read moremake up artist, they were quick to respond right away with all the information I needed. One major request was I wanted the CEO/ Owner of Blossom and Beauty to do my hair and make up for my wedding day. She reached out and she said of course she would. You know when you speak to someone for the first time and just know that they have good energy/vibes? Well that was my first impression of Jasmin. I instantly knew I wanted her and her team to be our make up/ hair team for my wedding day. I felt like their prices were very reasonable! Their studio is so clean and nice. Jasmin listened to all my concerns and I provided her with Pinterest pictures at my make up trial appointment. I was also running 10 mins behind because I was lost trying to find the studio. (I'm bad at directions lol) and she was very understanding about it. Another reason why I gave them a 15/10 because I had originally messed up on the amount of girls getting their hair done. They were able to accommodate my bridesmaid to get her hair done because they had finished earlier than expected. I was so thankful that they were able to fix MY mistake. Now onto the quality of work. Jasmin and Shelby did such amazing work for my bridesmaids and I. The way she did my wedding hair was different than the trial and to be honest I loved it even more! That's when I knew she was an expert at this! My make up was so flawless. My bridesmaids were also happy with their hair and make up. From my experience, they are the best of the best in Portland! Book with them and you will be happy that you did!

I really appreciated the smooth communication all the way through - they were so kind and patient with all my questions and concerns. Anny and Andy are both very talented and precise. They have ALL the skills and dedication to make you look and feel beautiful. I was looking for a really natural makeup look, and an updo with lots of texture. I was definitely nervous about the makeup piece since I basically don't wear much more than mascara, but Anny nailed it - I felt weightless and beautiful and most of all like MYSELF the entire day. My hair was a work of art as well - I hope Andy is proud of what he created because I LOVED it. I have to also mention that the two of them have a great dynamic - they work very smoothly together and definitely made me feel at ease, and when my wedding day arrived they were just the calming presence I needed. Could not have wished for more.

I don't own or wear make-up, so for events, I have to go get it done. Oh, and I've had it DONE! Even with the compliments, I hated it because I didn't look like myself. It felt foreign and I would often feel quite uncomfortable. For my elopement ceremony last summer, I wanted to look like myself, except with better skin. I wanted to be comfortable with myself. Anny's portfolio was appealing to me, because it had a variety of looks, including the "natural look", the one I wanted. We had a super intimate ceremony over brunch. The venue was great, but didn't give us a lot of extra time to prepare. Anny and Andy came through! With Anny on make-up and Andy on hair, they made my mother and I feel beautiful and natural, and they did it in record time. I was comfortable the entire day. And yes, I felt pretty on my wedding day.

Living in Portland, finding a HMUA who specializes or is experienced with Asian brides is a huge challenge (compared to my hometown of LA). I'm so grateful to have found Shawna! Shawna has years of experience, is so talented in her craft, and is wonderful to work with. She is so professional (clean, prompt, responsive), down to earth, calming, and open to feedback -- all qualities a nervous bride wants on her wedding day! I love Shawna's work for my wedding day. She made me feel beautiful, the hair/make-up lasted through the day/night, and her work photographs beautifully (without it looking too cake-y IRL). She also did my mom's hair and make-up, which my mom ended up loving (especially since my mom's has had poor experiences with professional hair and make-up artists in the past). In addition to my wedding hair and make-up, Shawna did two sets of eyelash extensions for me. I'd never gotten lash extensions before, but she was so patient and instructive in explaining the process and teaching me how to take care of them. I cannot recommend Shawna enough for your hair, make-up, or eyelash extension needs!

Not only is Shawna professional, clean, and efficient, all the things you want in a makeup artist - she is also so creative, talented and personable. Shawna made me feel so beautiful on my wedding day! I normally wear minimal makeup in my daily life, so for my wedding I was concerned about looking way overdone. Shawna absolutely nailed what I asked for. She made me feel like a more elegant, polished version of myself. She knew right away how to accentuate my features but still have a natural look. The touch up kit made it easy for me to fix my lip color in between photos. For my hair, Shawna did an amazing updo that I never would have been able to do myself! I gave her some creative freedom with the hairstyle and was so happy with the result. An updo is not easy with my hair because it's very thick and heavy, but somehow it stayed in place all night through lots of hugs and dancing. The lash extensions were done a couple days prior to the wedding. She had a few different options ranging from natural-looking to more dramatic. I loved that I didn't worry about sweating or crying off mascara or strip lashes during my wedding, and they looked beautiful! I was a lash newbie but Shawna gave me easy instructions on how to care for them. The process does take a couple hours if you're getting a full set, but it's absolutely worth it. I definitely recommend scheduling a trial if you can, to give you the opportunity to try different options ahead of time, show her inspiration photos, etc. It made me feel much better going into my wedding day knowing we already had an idea of the look I wanted. Do yourself a favor and book her

If you're searching for a hair and makeup company for your wedding I would STRONGLY encourage you to do research and book elsewhere. I want to start by saying the entire experience with them was mediocre. I was originally supposed to get married in October of 2020 but was forced to postpone due to the pandemic and was charged $250 to change the wedding date which was a bummer but I guess I understood the circumstances. I had to change the location of "getting ready" morning of wedding which I confirmed with them no less than 3 times and when they sent over the last few email correspondences leading up to wedding they failed to spell my name correctly and continued to have the wrong location. Just thought they would be more on top of it. The morning of my wedding I was informed that they were sending a replacement hair gal who showed up about 30 minutes late. I had 5 girls in my wedding who were getting their hair done (including the MOB and MOG). Each on of them ended up fixing their hair and re doing everything after our hair girl left. I was so embarrassed and bummed that after all the money that was spent NO ONE LIKED THEIR HAIR. So disappointing. I do want to emphasis the girl I had for my wedding day trail makeup and hair was Kala and she was the BEST!! She really was so great and did such a great job on my hair and makeup. I understand it's been a difficult year for businesses but I'm so disappointed with the services based off how much money I paid! It was not cheap.... Again I'd strongly encourage anyone considering NW Hair + Makeup to book with another company. I really wish I had had a different hair+makeup experience for my wedding.

That makes me feel like my wedding isn't as important. I felt very disrespected due to the short notice. I am extremely disappointed by the unprofessionalism. I was excited to work with Whitney and her team, but now I am pretty relieved after the customer service I just received.

I ended up doing one more hair trial 2 days before my wedding because I wanted Hollywood-type waves and we didn't do that for the first trial so the fact that they were able to do that for me meant so much to me. I was so nervous and stressed out and a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders once I had the trial. They showed up early to get set up the day of the wedding and even accommodated my request the day before asking if we could start earlier in the day because I felt nervous about not having enough time to get from the hotel to the venue. I loved my hair and makeup and they did an amazing job on the four others in my bridal party!
