I had been searching for "my person" for years after my previous stylist moved, and I'm probably a little harder to impress than the average person because I grew up in salons and worked in the cosmetic industry for years. I know when someone really knows their craft -- and this girl knows her stuff. I love most is that she actually listens. Like really listens. She'll look at your inspiration, look at your actual hair, and tell you honestly what your hair type and texture can do instead of just saying yes to everything and sending you home wondering why you don't magically have the same head of hair as the person in the Pinterest photo. She works WITH your hair, and that makes such a difference. She was also unbelievably patient with me over several appointments while I slowly worked up the courage to get the haircut I actually wanted. I kept inching toward it like a frightened woodland creature and she never pushed me. She just worked with me until I was ready. And when I finally committed??? Literally the best my hair has ever looked. The cut is so good. So precise. Every piece falls where it's supposed to, she understood exactly how to work with my texture, and somehow my hair just makes sense now. The color I showed her? She formulated it perfectly. And her blowouts are honestly rude because now I know what my hair is capable of looking like and I cannot recreate that magic at home. I would have her blow out my hair every morning if that were a normal and financially responsible thing to do. But beyond how insanely talented she is, she is just an absolute gem of a human. She's funny, sweet, warm, compassionate, adorable, easy to talk to and genuinely so much fun to be around. I literally find myself wanting another haircut just because I want to go hang out with her again -- which is probably not a healthy long-term hair-growth strategy. Finding someone who is incredibly talented at what they do and is just a beautiful person to spend time with is so rare. I'm genuinely grateful she came into my life and I cannot imagine anyone else doing my hair now. So basically, she can never leave Oregon. That's the rule. But if she does, apparently I travel for hair now because I'm going with her. I searched for my stylist for years, and I finally found her. Shawna has years of experience, is so talented in her craft, and is wonderful to work with. She is so professional (clean, prompt, responsive), down to earth, calming, and open to feedback -- all qualities a nervous bride wants on her wedding day! I love Shawna's work for my wedding day. She made me feel beautiful, the hair/make-up lasted through the day/night, and her work photographs beautifully (without it looking too cake-y IRL). She also did my mom's hair and make-up, which my mom ended up loving (especially since my mom's has had poor experiences with professional hair and make-up artists in the past). In addition to my wedding hair and make-up, Shawna did two sets of eyelash extensions for me. I'd never gotten lash extensions before, but she was so patient and instructive in explaining the process and teaching me how to take care of them. Not only is Shawna professional, clean, and efficient, all the things you want in a makeup artist - she is also so creative, talented and personable. Shawna made me feel so beautiful on my wedding day! I normally wear minimal makeup in my daily life, so for my wedding I was concerned about looking way overdone. Shawna absolutely nailed what I asked for. She made me feel like a more elegant, polished version of myself. She knew right away how to accentuate my features but still have a natural look. The touch up kit made it easy for me to fix my lip color in between photos. For my hair, Shawna did an amazing updo that I never would have been able to do myself! I gave her some creative freedom with the hairstyle and was so happy with the result. An updo is not easy with my hair because it's very thick and heavy, but somehow it stayed in place all night through lots of hugs and dancing. The lash extensions were done a couple days prior to the wedding. She had a few different options ranging from natural-looking to more dramatic. I loved that I didn't worry about sweating or crying off mascara or strip lashes during my wedding, and they looked beautiful! I was a lash newbie but Shawna gave me easy instructions on how to care for them. The process does take a couple hours if you're getting a full set, but it's absolutely worth it. I definitely recommend scheduling a trial if you can, to give you the opportunity to try different options ahead of time, show her inspiration photos, etc. It made me feel much better going into my wedding day knowing we already had an idea of the look I wanted. I really appreciated the smooth communication all the way through - they were so kind and patient with all my questions and concerns. Anny and Andy are both very talented and precise. They have ALL the skills and dedication to make you look and feel beautiful. I was looking for a really natural makeup look, and an updo with lots of texture. I was definitely nervous about the makeup piece since I basically don't wear much more than mascara, but Anny nailed it - I felt weightless and beautiful and most of all like MYSELF the entire day. My hair was a work of art as well - I hope Andy is proud of what he created because I LOVED it.
