I genuinely don't even know where to start because apparently I came in looking for a hairstylist and accidentally found a person I would now follow across state lines. She is the best. I had been searching for "my person" for years after my previous stylist moved, and I'm probably a little harder to impress than the average person because I grew up in salons and worked in the cosmetic industry for years. I know when someone really knows their craft -- and this girl knows her stuff. I love most is that she actually listens. Like really listens. She'll look at your inspiration, look at your actual hair, and tell you honestly what your hair type and texture can do instead of just saying yes to everything and sending you home wondering why you don't magically have the same head of hair as the person in the Pinterest photo. She works WITH your hair, and that makes such a difference. She was also unbelievably patient with me over several appointments while I slowly worked up the courage to get the haircut I actually wanted. I kept inching toward it like a frightened woodland creature and she never pushed me. She just worked with me until I was ready. And when I finally committed??? Literally the best my hair has ever looked. The cut is so good. So precise. Every piece falls where it's supposed to, she understood exactly how to work with my texture, and somehow my hair just makes sense now. The color I showed her? She formulated it perfectly. And her blowouts are honestly rude because now I know what my hair is capable of looking like and I cannot recreate that magic at home. I would have her blow out my hair every morning if that were a normal and financially responsible thing to do. But beyond how insanely talented she is, she is just an absolute gem of a human. She's funny, sweet, warm, compassionate, adorable, easy to talk to and genuinely so much fun to be around. I literally find myself wanting another haircut just because I want to go hang out with her again -- which is probably not a healthy long-term hair-growth strategy. Finding someone who is incredibly talented at what they do and is just a beautiful person to spend time with is so rare. Some background Originally, I chose to go to this salon because of how they represented themselves online as caring about education and hair health. As I have very fine, thin hair, I wanted someone who could make sure it stays healthy. I was completely sold when I met Mikayla and saw how knowledgeable she was (she was not the hairstylist who ended up doing my hair). To the point, I drove 5 hours to ensure I was doing what was best for my hair. Due to scheduling conflicts, they had to switch stylists. Within the first day of installation, I had K-tips coming out. I approached the salon about the issue. They took several days to get back to me. Even though they were aware I was not local. By this time, I had more than 10 K-tips fall out. When I met with the stylist, there was little to no accountability, and she said that she would contact the owner. I contacted the salon on Friday and heard nothing until midday on Sunday, and I was the one who sent the follow-up text.They said it was my brushing. I had no contact from the owner- or solutions sent to me. I would've expected a more timely response and better education with how much I paid. Since then, I have switched to brushing exactly how the stylist recommended (from a video taken after their resolution), and they continue to fall out. The hair knots easily, and no matter how much conditioner I use at the ends, they slip out, and the knots stay. Tonight, I had 5 k-tips slide out after brushing it very delicately. I would not recommend this salon purely due to their lack of accountability, their unwillingness to fix issues, and that they will not resolve things in a timely manner even when they know you are from out of town. I was so excited as a paramedic student to have extensions that would hold up to my job- yet they can't even hold up to normal daily tasks. I'm not sure where to start!! My whole experience with Thairapy has been absolutely incredible! My first consultation appointment was concise and clear, with Lyndsay doing an incredible job to ensure I felt comfortable me with the differences between each extension type, and making sure that the pricing was incredibly transparent. I have never had extensions before and was definitely a little nervous, especially being nonbinary and going for a more stereotypically femme look, but every interaction has made me feel respected and valued. During the extension process Lyndsay was so kind and crazy quick! I get daily migraine and Lyndsay was kind enough to turn off the lights in the salon for me at one point when it was just the two of us which was SO nice! Afterwords, Lyndsay followed up to ensure I felt good about the length and amount of hair we had added which helped me feel so confident in my decision! With the combination of amount of length I added with the variety of color in my natural hair, my extensions could have ended up a bit wild! But Lyndsay crushed it to an extent I didn't realize was possible! My own family was amazed by how natural the extensions look! I decided to go in an get a blowout after a couple of weeks, and was paired with the amazing Kayda! I should've gone to another salon. I went in for a haircut... i showed pictures with shoulder length shags. Letting my stylist know I'm super low maintenance. Just a wash & go style. Which wasn't exactly what I got. Unfortunately I also let her talk me out of bangs. I left Thairpy not loving my hair and immediately washed it after, to see what it really looked like. The cut is much shorter and not even close to the shag i requested. I've had this cut before - so I know it is possible. My biggest issue is my cut is not low maintenance. It maybe uniformed but air dries terribly. Going from using no hair products the last decade... I just ordered products. Thairpy specializes in extensions. My stylist was sweet - but I don't think the cut I was requesting was in her wheelhouse. She had great reviews on Yelp & Google. But after watching & talking to her. Her responses to my questions didn't make me super confident she knew what she was doing. I was already in the chair & we'd cut off 6-8 inches. Looking back - I should've stopped her when my gut told me. I'm sure they do great extensions & are better with longer hair & uncomplicated cuts. She was very clear about the different options for the type extensions and how they are different from one another, as well as what my expectations for outcome should be.
