Zara is simply put the ONLY person I would trust to color my hair here in Beaverton. She is affordable, she knows what will look good on her clients, and never leads them astray. I NEVER go with my recommendation over hers because I know she's always right when it comes to color. The salon is located inside Sola Salons, so it's quiet and relaxing. I bring blankets since I ALWAYS freeze though lol I've been coming to Zara for 6 years and she has NEVER done my hair wrong. Cannot recommend highly enough. read more

As far as the haircut goes, it's just fine. It's not great but it's not bad either. The interaction was extremely weird. At first I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt, but the more she spoke, the more arrogant and rude she was. She was also sick and not wearing a mask. Bad vibes overall. The haircut quality is not worth putting up with her attitude. read more

Zara is outstanding! I've been delighted with her since starting a year ago. She took me from dark brown to my natural white (surprised me how white I am) and I love it. Her cuts are consistently great, more of an upscale look. I actually don't think she's capable of doing a bad cut. She has excellent judgement and is direct if you ask her opinion (I love that). Five stars. She's very busy and she deserves to be! read more

This was my first time trying out her hair studio. I would give her 10 stars if I could!! I have strawberry blonde hair and it takes a while for hairstylist to get my hair color quite right. And OMG she did it first try. Because of Cove I haven't had my hair done in three years and it feels amazing! Her salon is adorable and very private and it's at a great location with a coffee shop next store. If you are deciding whether you should get your hair done I highly recommend it. (UPDATED) If I could give 2 reviews I'd give one with: 5 stars for the cut and 1 star for highlights. Zara did a fantastic job with the cut! :) But unfortunately not so well with the color. I'm in search of a hairstylist that is great at communication, listens to what you want, is good at color and cut. Not jazzed about going to one for color and another for cut, but may have to. ** Note: if you don't know what you want for color, or just want highlights to lighten up your look overall, Zara is definitely your gal. ** If you DO know what you want, and it's a more dimensional highlight, or more bold contrast, and don't want to argue with your hairstylist, or be bullied into something you don't want, do find another stylist. MY APPROACH: I always bring multiple photos to show the cut and color I want and point out the aspects that I like and dislike using the photos. This worked really well for the cut but just failed miserably in the color. STRONG PERSONALITY: Zara has a very strong personality, and is quite stubborn, I'm one to be firm in what I ask for and gave up the fight after a few rounds. I trusted her that she would do something close to what I wanted and if she had, I'd be giving a 4-5 star review. WHAT SHE WANTS not WHAT YOU WANT I've always had warmer toned highlights, and she gave me nearly grey blonde highlights with no dimension because "it'll hide the grey roots better when they grow back in" that washed out my face and made me look old. I'll give credit to Zara for happily taking a 2nd round at the color for free (2+ weeks later), but I ended up with even less highlights than I went in with for the first round of highlights. Arrrgh. This after 15 minutes of discussion and review of photos. Both times I'd asked for Balayage, but was talked out of it by her saying she couldn't do it with my hair - period. Too short was the reason the first 2 times. Her explanation the 3rd time AFTER we were done made more sense - I had too many highlights to begin with and would need a base color of brown to start with. She said it'll take a little while for the brown to fade a bit, so if it does, I'll update again. So why not say that in the first place?!? I would've happily paid more for the base color and/or come in on a separate day with no highlights to get balayage. Most stylists would have offered to do that and then the balayage at a later date to make the customer happy. Still in search. :( read more

Came to Zara for a mens cut with Nicole via Groupon. Easy location just off the 217 and Scholls, her studio is in a newer building with a big SOLA SALONS sign, unit 15 inside. The interior is a modern circular corridor filled with a bunch of private rooms and is clean with bathrooms near the back corner. There are two stations with a couch inside and chairs outside for waiting. Nicole is plenty friendly and did a nice quick and clean mens cut on me. She was also able to fit me in on the same day I called. She shampoos and conditions your hair afterwards with a hot steamed towel over the face, a nice touch. The products she uses have a nice mild scent to them. Only downside is the parking lot is small for how many businesses share it, so try to schedule during off hours if possible, otherwise you have to park in the neighboring apartments area. She has some tips about this. There are also a few disabled parking spots scattered about. I lucked out and got parking right out front at 5PM on a Friday night. Rates are market average. Would definitely recommend and return. read more

Zara is a lovely lady with much talent and very humble about just how talented she really is. I was very nervous going to someone new for color especially after having some bad experiences and this lady did a wonderful job at listening to my concerns and pointing me in the right direction to meet my needs. I went to Zara based on reviews and every single positive thing said about her is absolutely true. My color turned out wonderful and I will definitely go back. read more

I can be a very introverted person and spent the past few years not putting in much effort on how I looked, mainly just hoping I'd blend into the walls. I finally built up the courage over the past year to start putting in some effort and part of that was getting a new haircut and color! Zara was able to see me as a new client, gave me honest feedback on the photos I brought in and the state of my hair. We ended up with a balayage and a middle part (which I've never done before!). I ended up with a hair cut and color that I absolutely love and received many compliments on. To say I was impressed would be an understatement. Thank you, Zara! read more

I scheduled with Zara based on all her positive reviews, as my prior hair stylist moved too far away. Zara is honest upfront about pricing, and very fair. She will also be honest about what she knows to be best for your hair...you can disagree, but she's the professional and acts like one. I came with my ideas and we worked together with her critiques to give me the best look, and color. The result was fantastic. I've had so many compliments and wake up every morning loving how my hair looks. I'm glad I found Zara and will be seeing her from now on. It's refreshing having a stylist who knows how to individualize cuts so well. Also her studio is flipping beautiful and peaceful. At first it came across as a massage studio with all the plants and essential oil diffuser (not too strong, just a simple pleasant background aroma). I wanted to take a nap in there haha read more

I came to Zara based on her reviews and her photos of precise hair styles, and I'm so glad I did. Zara was very communicative and clear when booking my appointment: she asked for pictures of my current hair and what I wanted, and was prompt with her replies (I never expect immediate responses because I know it is a work day, but she got back to me within a couple hours). Her covid protocols were straight-forward and appreciated, and her salon is clean and relaxing. I've struggled to find a new hair-stylist over the last few years and have had back-to-back negative experiences before visiting Zara. I needed help getting my hair healthy again and getting a style that would work with my current hair and allow me to smoothly grow it back out. When I arrived, she talked through my pictures and was very honest with me about the potential of those styles and the state of my current hair- which I really appreciated. She helped me get into a new product routine using far fewer products (which works better with my lifestyle) and better quality products based on my hair's needs. I felt no pressure from her and she was very contentious about budget. Zara also cleaned up my hairstyle and it looks just how I wanted it to be. Even just after a few days, my hair feels SO much better: it's healthier, cleaner, and easier to get the style I want. I feel so much better about my hair (finally!!) and I highly recommend Zara as a hairstylist. read more

Zara is efficient with getting in quick foils, no doubt! But for a relaxing experience getting your hair done this may not be it. Her work space is in a beautiful space in the sola salons off Scholls ferry, but feels a bit cold and frigid with the energy in the room and the instrumental versions of "the heart must go on" playing. She seems overbooked and anxious. She kindly let me know there was a hole in a foil AFTER it was shampooed and that I would have a spot on the side of my head. She said I could come in and fix it at any point, regardless I was charged full price initially. I have a lot of hair and know it's a lot to work with , but if you knowingly mess up my hair please adjust your price accordingly. I have a toddler and getting to a salon is such a task already. Zara you need a vacation because you seem very stressed :) read more

Zara is amazing. She is a talented stylist who really cares about her clients. I love how she cares for my hair. She is a gem!

I simply reached out to see if Zara could help me with my hair color goals. She ended up responding saying "This transition will be really hard and very costly unfortunately. You need a color correction and multiple sessions to achieve your goal". I asked what she could do instead and never heard back. As if she didn't even want my business. I totally understand hair coloring being a process, but she didn't even try planning it out with me. She just said it would be costly and left it at that. Well, if it's costly, wouldn't you want to book an appointment with me to start the process? I guess it would be too much work. I work at a spa and I understand how to run a business. This was an unprofessional experience. read more

Zara listened to what I wanted, and as important, what I didn't want! I left with highlights and a cut that will keep me coming back! I'm picky and she's the 3rd stylist I've been to since moving to Portland 6 mos ago. I've found "the One"! I am very pleased with the way my hair turned out after Zara highlighted it. She not only listened to exactly what I was looking for, but also gave great tips on how to care for my very dry, highlighted hair once I got home. I met with Zara a couple of weeks ago for toner. She fit me into her schedule, but when I arrived she disclosed what would happen if she only added toner. I had highlights that were not done correctly and had asked my previous hairstylist to darken the tones as well as add layers. My highlights were platinum blonde and no layers were ever added. Zara gave me her professional opinion on what was needed in order to achieve what I was looking for. She went above and beyond to fit me in her schedule (I work long hours and she was very flexible). Besides being extremely accommodating, she was up front about the price (which was extremely fair). I would recommend Zara to everyone I know and will be a returning client. I couldn't be happier with how my hair turned out. It was very frustrating to see someone prior to her that did not listen, but I'm happy that she fixed it. She has a great personality and will explain the all the options. read more

Reviews are accurate! I found Zara on Yelp and decided to give her a try. First of all, I love being able to communicate via text. When I arrived I was happy to find the salon consists of individual rooms which added a personal feel. They seemed modern and clean. When I sat down we chatted a moment on what I wanted and what was a realistic expectation for my hair. I'm sure many can appreciate a honest stylist. She carefully brushed in the color for my balayage. Although she moved quickly and efficiently, I never felt like she was cutting corners. She reassured me that I could come back right away if I notice something I don't like. I can't imagine doing so but I like knowing she stands behind her work. I will definitely be back and recommend anyone who asks. I'm 100% satisfied customer! Thanks Zara! read more

Zara is truly amazing. I had to find a new hairdresser, as mine is on a very long maternity leave. Having lost 60+ percent of my hair, due to Covid, needless to say, I was nervous having a stranger touch my hair, as well as color it. She went above and beyond in making me feel beautiful! read more

I scheduled an appointment online for my daughter to get a haircut. I confirmed the date and time worked for us. Zara gave me the best haircut I have ever had in my life. I have thick, dry, curly, extremely long hair that has scared most other stylists I have been to. Not only was she up-front with me about how much it would cost, but she was also honest about her own abilities and gave me a plethora of options. I have a TON of hair, so I am used to having to spend half a paycheck on a haircut. I typically spend around $400 to get my hair cut with highlights but usually leave feeling like I spent too much. I have had many experiences where the stylist would be too tired after cutting/coloring my hair to style it at the end. However, this was not the case with Zara. She spent THREE hours cutting and coloring my hair and then an extra hour after that blow-drying and curling it even when I insisted it wasn't necessary. I was so impressed by her dedication to her craft as well as making me feel like I was really getting a top salon experience. I spent the same amount of money I normally would have at other places but this time it felt like it was worth every penny. I would 10/10 recommend Zara, not only for her abilities but also for her kindness and warm personality. read more

I have zero ideas when it comes to my hair. I just want it to cover my scalp and look halfway decent in the process. The last person who did my hair left a bit of a train wreck on my head so Zara only had so many avenues she could take. Two and a half hours later I had some new highlights with an all over darker color, all of which was toned. Nice new trim and a blowout and I was good to go.
