I can never tell what my hair looks like until I actually leave due to the ancient fluorescent lighting. Jill, aka miracle worker, has been doing my hair for a few years. I went through that spell of bad stylist after bad stylist (even in the trendy hipster salons of Portland) until I found her and haven't looked back. She has knocked every insane request of mine out of the park even if it took a booking or two to get there. I've went from bronde to blonde, near white, then back to my current more natural highlighted light brown as seen in the attached picture, which I adore! She is upfront with expectations, affordably priced (girl... RAISE THOSE PRICES!), she is unreal at balayage/blended highlights and my cuts are always spot on. I waited 3 weeks for an appointment with a "balayage specialist" just for my hair to turn out orange! It took 3 hours and $160 when I asked for an icy blonde balayage. The bleach does not go up as high as asked , it's multiple different colors, and it's patchy. Definitely take your money somewhere else!!!! read more

I've never had such a stressful and uncomfortable experience at a salon. Hassan was very rough, slapping my head and hair around. The hair washing was so fast and uncomfortable. He seemed to have his own opinion about what was best for me, without listening to me. I have curly hair and blowouts do not fit my hair type. It looked awful walking out, and I was in tears by the time I got to my car. Luckily it looks good when I style it myself with my natural curls. Disappointed in the dishonesty of the owner at Bella salon, who would not honor a $100 gift certificate given to me by my husband. She said it was expired even though there is no expiration date on the certificate. It is against state and federal law not to provide services which were paid for. Bella got the money and refused to provide any service for it. Here is the law: State law makes it illegal to use inactivity, maintenance, service or other fees to reduce the value of a card. As of January 1, 2012, Oregonians are allowed to redeem most gift cards with a balance of $5 or less for cash. Hasan destroyed my hair. While he was bleaching my hair he had overbooked my appointment and was working on several people at the same time. He left the bleach in my hair too long and caused my hair to break and what was suppose to be blonde was grey. I've been coming to this salon for 7+ years and i have never experienced anything like i did today. i change my hair quite often from dark brown, highlights, or all over blonde. every time i have gone in, i've been told i have very healthy hair and that i take care of it well. (especially with the bleaching and dying) every now and then, i like to dye my hair with fun semi permanent colors. (they eventually wash out or you can bleach over it.) i have been dying my hair for a long time and have experience with hair care and how to care for colored hair. I just recently dyed my hair a lavender purple color and have been fading it out in hopes to go back to my natural brown hair. today i had an appointment with someone i had never met before. after looking at my hair for a few minutes, she expressed to me how dark hair wouldn't go well with my skin tone and that it would look "scary". (i have natural dark brown hair...) i politely asked her what she recommended that i do and asked if she could bleach over it. she then told me that she was not comfortable doing my hair and that it was too damaged and full of chemicals from bleaching and dying it? i hadn't bleached it in 5 months! the only product i've used is Arctic fox semi permanent dye and my hair is most certainly not damaged. she then proceeded to tell me that my hair wouldn't look as bad if i curled it, had makeup on, and look cute? i left the salon feeling very disappointed and offended at the service i received today. read more

First of all I would like to say that I have never left a Yelp review. However, my experience yesterday more than warrants it. I've had Brazilians before, and never had happen what occurred. The wax was bad, which the esthetician admitted to, and apologized several times for during and after the service. It would not come off, and took her many times to remove it, because it wouldn't even lift with the strip. I was in so much pain. I am swollen, red, irritated, and beyond sensitive to the touch from the amount of times skin was gone over with wax. Let me add, that these are feelings I have today, and I had this service yesterday. To make matters worse, I still have quite a bit of hair left. I will never return. I sincerely hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. read more

The lack of scheduling coordination was appalling. I called to confirm twice for 2 facials, I was told they would be overlapping one at 11:30 and the other at noon. When we arrived, I was told we were 30 minutes late, and only one of us could be seen. The appointment confirmations did not include any date or time so I was unaware that they had scheduled the wrong time until showing up. I recently just decided that I want to go from midnight black [N1] to purely blonde. Mackenzie Gandee is extraordinary at Bella Salon. I mean, she wasn't the first gal I had initially saw when wanting my hair completely transformed. I started with The Bob Shop (horrrrrrrible just horrible) because after 9 hours, 12 inches of my hair had melted off and was orange. I quickly then saw my boyfriends' brothers' girlfriend and she had me for about 5 appointments trying to fix the damage and mostly focus on the integrity of my hair. She was too scared to make my hair melt any more. So after a few months of no COLOR change, I had finally decided to go to someone else, so I discovered Mackenzie. She did a full blonde weave and gave me the best cut I have ever received. She only charged me $100 for the blonde weave and $20 for the Long A-Line cut which was so flawless. Plus, she threw in a deep conditioning treatment for free. When you lose an entire foot of length of your hair, your security blanket is gone. I had no confidence and was vulnerable. I didn't wear my hair down from Feb. until now, June 4th. Mackenzie is the reason why I'm wearing my hair down now. She tried to get most of the orange and black still out, camouflaging it with the blonde and the cut. I have natural medium brown hair and every shade of blonde in my hair now just looks so natural. Anyone who would see me now would have never guessed I had midnight black hair and would think i'm a natural blonde. I mean, the orange is still there on the tips (only because my hair simply won't take the bleach anymore) but she gave me such a fab cut; you should barely tell. Everyone who goes to Bella Salon is just so happy with their results. It's so great to know that I have finally found my hairdresser. 5 stars for Mackenzie Gandee and for Bella Salon. read more

Ok., so first of all! Lol DO NOT DEAL WITH THE OWNER. She is THE WORST RECEPTIONIST and the MOST UNPROFESSIONAL business owner I have met. Today I was seen by McKenzie who is an ABSOLUTE DOLL. I look and feel 100% better about myself now. I was a new client to this salon and I was worked into McKenzie's schedule. I did not feel I was getting the RUSH JOB at all and McKenzie went out of her way to go and grab me a Starbucks while the color was setting . Long-story short, THE OWNER IS NOT the best to deal with and she will leave you outside in the rain while waiting to be seen. And she needs to STOP LIEING to clients. Came here for the first time and I had Jill as my stylist. She was awesome! She helped me determine what style would look good for me based on my lifestyle and face shape. Jill was also very kind and makes a great conversationalist. There was never a dull moment with Jill. Also when I came here the whole complex was being remodeled and it was hard to find the location from all the construction. I called saying I was lost. I have a bad scalp so I asked her not to put bleach on it no big deal I've had it done in the past a thousand times. Said she would need 4 hours and wouldn't be able to do it in her scheduled time. DO NOT get your hair done with MALLORY SAVERY. It is unfortunate to have to write this review BUT I must be objective and fair about my personal experience. I was left feeling extremely disappointed and terrible about my hair color. I was referred to Mallory by another stylist who praised her and told me that she could give me the hair color I wanted. Sadly, that was completely untrue. I left with a super blotchy hair color that looked nothing like my description or reference pictures. My hair is now extremely orange and is just a plain HOT MESS. Not only that, but she actually stained my forehead and around my ears, what professional does that???? Mallory offered no sympathy outside from a minor discount. YES, I had to pay for a VERY poor dye job!!! This woman is an AMATEUR at best. Playing with people's hair with no warning!!!! Now I have to live with this disgusting hair color until it recovers again, so that I can PAY again someone else to fix it. The whole visit was extremely uncomfortable from the poor dye job to the inappropriate personal/private questions she asked me. Please don't waste your money as I did. You are better off with a box color, which I now wish I did. P.S: Don't be fooled by the "sudden" positive reviews & pictures that just so happens to pop up after my review. This was my second time at Bella Salon, but my first time having Hassan cut my hair. I was on time to my appointment and waited a half hour before I was seen. The receptionist never apologized or even had the courtesy to let me know that it would be that long of a wait. She even offered another customer coffee or a drink who had only been waiting there for about 5 minutes. When Hassan started cutting my hair he was cutting off a little more than I had agreed to. He also mad a comment towards the end of the haircut about having another customer waiting for him and told me that my haircut took longer than a normal haircut. Then he preceded to scold me about getting my haircut every 3 months as if it was my fault that he was running behind schedule. I thought that was pretty rude, especially since he had already been running a half hour late when I got there. I received a great haircut, but for the price I paid I expect not only an awesome haircut but great customer service that doesn't include a lecture and guilt trip. read more

I have been seeing Melinda at Bella Salon for about 3 years now, and she is fantastic. My color is always right on as well as my cut. If you want your natural color, but accentuated, Melinda is your gal. It is spendy, but well worth it because she nails it every time... She actually listens and then translates that to my hair. After living in the Beaverton area for almost two years I have struggled with trying to find the right stylist. I went to Nelly today at Bella Salon and am so happy with her work. She displayed obvious knowledge of hair and coloring/highlighting/bleaching. Nelly did a great (and fast) job at highlighting my hair and was understanding of my want to be a certain, non yellow, shade of blonde. I was Hassan's client for a few years. He definitely knows how to cut and style very thick hair. I ended up leaving him only because he always cut way too much off the length. When I started going to him I had middle-back-length hair and at the end I ended up with almost shoulder-length hair. By the way, every time he told me that my hair ends were in great condition, so I have no clue why he always cut that much off. read more
