I wanted to change up my hair a bit having had the same boring brown 'do for decades (minus the odd unsuccessful foray into hideous orange highlights). Ariel did an absolutely amazing job of my cute teal highlights, she was really attentive and had some great ideas for how to make it look both striking yet subtle when it needs to be. It looked fantastic, didn't take too long (a couple of hours maybe), and I'm looking forward to going back and getting it refreshed :) Parking is a bit restricted to the side, but you can park on El Camino and move your car halfway through (got some weird looks from drivers with my cape and foils on...)

Since the salon is located in Downtown Redwood City, there will not be any free parking as everything is metered street parking - Bring some quarters. Spruce Salon is taking every Covid-19 precaution possible - Only a limited number of stylists are allowed to work at a time {with chairs more than 6 feet apart}, each stylist is only allow to service one client at a time, both the stylist and the client must wear a mask the entire time and a temperature check is given prior to entering the salon. All of these procedures made me feel super comfortable in being in a salon again. My husband has been going to Spruce for years for his haircuts and raved about Nicole, so I decided to give her a shot when going in for a full highlight and a haircut - I am beyond thrilled to have found Nicole - She is a Hair Genius! I am a very easy going person and my hair is the one thing that I can tend to get picky about so I usually go into a salon with several pictures of what I am looking for {and as someone who previously managed salons/spas for years and years, I know this can be a stylists nightmare} - Nicole was amazing and looked through all of my pictures and I put my trust in her to see my vision - She exceeded what I was looking for 10 fold! Overall, they take precautions very seriously and I feel safer in the hair salon than I do at a grocery store! Overall, 5/5. I really love coming to Eleen. The quality of service you get from Salon Sur La Rue and the handwork delivered is worth every penny... and know that it is not on the high end of the market. Jenny truly knows how to create the haircut and color exactly how I want it every time. I used to bring pictures for inspiration, and she always takes the time to let me know what will or wont work for me. Whether it is a full highlight fresh for summer, or cutting it a bit shorter than usual and adding tons of layers she is up for the challenge.
