In one instance, a teacher used name-calling toward students--something that should never happen in any school, especially one that claims to reflect Christian values. Administration was equally frustrating. Concerns from both parents and students were consistently dismissed rather than addressed. Instead of feeling heard, I felt brushed off and judged. During a very difficult time in my personal life, I expected neutrality and professionalism, but instead experienced what felt like bias and a lack of basic understanding. Leadership was particularly concerning. While interactions could appear polite on the surface, the follow-through told a very different story. Decisions felt inconsistent and unfair, making it hard to trust the administration at all. The front office experience made things even worse. Shannon, who is often the first point of contact, was repeatedly rude and unprofessional in my interactions. The tone was unwelcoming and dismissive, which sets a terrible example for both families and students. First impressions matter, and in this case, they reflected a much deeper problem within the school culture. To be fair, not every staff member reflects this environment--Mrs. Quilcy stands out as kind, patient, and genuinely supportive of students. She deserves recognition for the way she treats families. Unfortunately, one positive example does not outweigh the broader issues. For a school that promotes faith and character, the lack of compassion, professionalism, and willingness to listen was deeply disappointing. Knowing my child is picked up on time, in a clearly labeled car by a uniformed staff member, gives me complete peace of mind. They use an amazing app that updates every 5-10 minutes, so I can see exactly what my child is doing throughout the afternoon. I also appreciate that I can plan ahead to meet the designated staff member who is scheduled to pick up my child (since pick-up staff may vary). Communication is excellent, you can text the driver and even the owner directly with any questions or requests, and they respond quickly. As a parent who once spent hours searching for a trustworthy transportation service for my 4-year-old, I can honestly say this program stands out for its professionalism, safety, and genuine care. It took my son some time to adjust as we had enrolled him around Christmas, but after we pushed through we really saw all of the benefits! TLC Parker has brought more structure to his daily schedule and he is much more sociable whenever he sees other fellow children. But my personal experience tells a different story--one where those values were ignored when I needed them most. I was recently removed from St. Bernard for an incident where I acted in self-defense. I didn't start a fight, I didn't go looking for trouble--but when someone put their hands on me, I protected myself. I didn't expect to be rewarded for it, but I definitely didn't expect to be punished either. The school's decision to expel me shows just how broken their system of discipline really is. Instead of investigating the situation fairly or listening to both sides, the administration rushed to judgment. They didn't care about context or truth--they cared about image. To them, it was easier to kick someone out than to admit that their staff might have failed to prevent or de-escalate the situation in the first place. What's worse is the message this sends to other students: if you stand up for yourself, even to protect your own safety, you're the problem. That's not justice. That's cowardice disguised as policy. St. Bernard claims to be a place that prepares young people for life. But life doesn't punish people for defending themselves--it demands it. If this school truly wants to teach real values, it needs to start by practicing them. This is a terrible school. The ladies in the office are so rude & it is really hard to communicate…read morewith them. They are always gossiping about students & parents! It's unbelievable how unprofessional they are. I had a very important phone call for the principal/vice principal & they gave the hardest time to get in contact with either. They were purposely picking up my calls & hanging up on me. I had to call on a different phone to get through & then LIZ told me she can't forward me to the principal. I asked for her voicemail & she said her voicemail was not available--that it was a human being. I gave up trying to communicate with them at all. This school has been successfully sued many times & now I understand why. They do not put our children first & get upset when lunch is dropped off for them. I can go on & on about why this school is terrible. The teachers my children have had so far give no effort. Aside from Mrs. Finnegan she is a gem at the school!
