I can say that we have a positive experience with my child's teacher and she really do paid attention to each and everyone of her students. My child enjoyed this school (coming from an unorganized, poorly ran school system in AZ).

This school opened in 2014. I am a parent of an MHHS student. The school is at the forefront of the…read moretraditional vs. modern methods of teaching and learning. MHHS focuses on the "flipped learning" concept where student and teachers work collaboratively in the classroom. Online learning is part of this process and it has caused much controversy. From my perspective, there is a benefit in learning from new technology. Information is distributed much more quickly and students receive the latest up-to-date information. I remember being in a private school growing up and learning from traditional textbooks published 10 years ago. I wondered as a student why I was learning out-of-date material. Fast forward to today, and I find myself appreciating this school's commitment in learning from Internet platforms. Students are issued chrome books which serve as their textbooks for the year. No textbooks are issued. Good or bad? IMO, good. I don't have to worry about my student carrying luggage to school. We just worry about two things. 1) don't lose your chrome book and 2) keep the chrome book functional The downside for some parents is simply my son or daughter is on their chrome book all day. But what is the difference if they are hovering over a textbook or chrome book? There is no negative difference! I know my child is studying. I hear parents complain about the large homework volume, but I don't get this argument. Homework is part of the deal in high school and prepares kids for college or the rigors of the military. After all, high school isn't supposed to be easy. It's supposed to prepare students for what is in front of them - post high school life! My child and MHHS students benefit from "flipped learning." I went to a prominent University in my undergrad years. Professors expect you to have the ability to function on your own -- no hand holding! Papers are submitted online. Assignments are given through class and reiterated through Internet modules. Students communicate with professors in person but largely, by email! Assignments and papers are submitted through -- guess what --- email or an online platform! This is college! MHHS prepares kids for college by forcing them to be independent learners! I love this. I know my child will go through ups and downs, but by the end of high school will be more ready for the everyday common practice of college life. I've heard complaints about teachers not doing much during class time. In the first year, some teachers would refer kids to websites when class questions came up. My child's experience is this happens minimal but I'm sure there may be a percentage of teachers who may not be engaged. My hope is all MHHS teachers are involved in the learning process and infuse enthusiasm in their class. Every class depends on the direction and enthusiasm of their teacher. As a parent, I'm able to track my kids progress through Aeries. Other schools also use Aeries (or equivalent), so MHHS is using an accepted module for parents to stay in tune with their kids grades. Mr. Rexelle's music program is top-notch! They have won awards in competitions the last two years! The sports programs are developing with girls basketball leading the way with its success in the school's first two years. The track and football field is a impressive! This school has gone through growing pains, but I strongly feel the staff in place continues to steer the school in a positive direction. I know many of the teachers and administrators. They are good, caring people. I see this school getting better and better each year. With all the people moving to Mountain House, this school will be the prominent focus of this town.

I remember last year when i was driving pass this place, I noticed that it wasn't even Lathrop Annex anymore. Most of the portables were gone and all that was left was the "Office". I just couldn't believe it. Was it because 2 other schools opened up in Lathrop too that they needed to just downsize by just putting K-8 in Lathrop Elementary? Anyways, I remember getting in trouble here a lot and getting sent home for all the wrong reasons. One for sticking out my tongue at the teacher LOL. The other time was when I was digging in the sandbox and for some reason there was some boy behind me too that as I was digging, all the sand was going in his yes LMAO. He should have known better not to go behind me while I'm digging in the sand. I used to be Student of the Month all the time. I miss going to the book fair which was my favorite. We used to always get those book catalogs and would always have to buy something since back then I loved reading. Another thing I loved was the annual carnival that they used to have here usually during the month of May. They had cotton candy, lots of bouncy jumpers, a rock climbing wall, and other good stuff. That was one of the things I used to look forward to when I attended the annex and the elementary. I met most of my best friends here. We all attended the same elementary and the same high school. They were the reasons why I loved going to school. Overall, this place had so much memories.

St. Bernard School in Tracy, California claims to stand for values like fairness, compassion, and…read morecommunity. But my personal experience tells a different story--one where those values were ignored when I needed them most. I was recently removed from St. Bernard for an incident where I acted in self-defense. I didn't start a fight, I didn't go looking for trouble--but when someone put their hands on me, I protected myself. I didn't expect to be rewarded for it, but I definitely didn't expect to be punished either. The school's decision to expel me shows just how broken their system of discipline really is. Instead of investigating the situation fairly or listening to both sides, the administration rushed to judgment. They didn't care about context or truth--they cared about image. To them, it was easier to kick someone out than to admit that their staff might have failed to prevent or de-escalate the situation in the first place. What's worse is the message this sends to other students: if you stand up for yourself, even to protect your own safety, you're the problem. That's not justice. That's cowardice disguised as policy. St. Bernard claims to be a place that prepares young people for life. But life doesn't punish people for defending themselves--it demands it. If this school truly wants to teach real values, it needs to start by practicing them. Let me know if you want to add your personal details, tone it up/down, or include anything specific like what happened in the fight or how they treated you afterward.
