This school opened in 2014. I am a parent of an MHHS student. The school is at the forefront of the traditional vs. modern methods of teaching and learning. MHHS focuses on the "flipped learning" concept where student and teachers work collaboratively in the classroom. Online learning is part of this process and it has caused much controversy. From my perspective, there is a benefit in learning from new technology. Information is distributed much more quickly and students receive the latest up-to-date information. I remember being in a private school growing up and learning from traditional textbooks published 10 years ago. I wondered as a student why I was learning out-of-date material. Fast forward to today, and I find myself appreciating this school's commitment in learning from Internet platforms. Students are issued chrome books which serve as their textbooks for the year. No textbooks are issued. Good or bad? IMO, good. I don't have to worry about my student carrying luggage to school. We just worry about two things. 1) don't lose your chrome book and 2) keep the chrome book functional The downside for some parents is simply my son or daughter is on their chrome book all day. But what is the difference if they are hovering over a textbook or chrome book? There is no negative difference! I know my child is studying. I hear parents complain about the large homework volume, but I don't get this argument. Homework is part of the deal in high school and prepares kids for college or the rigors of the military. After all, high school isn't supposed to be easy. It's supposed to prepare students for what is in front of them - post high school life! My child and MHHS students benefit from "flipped learning." I went to a prominent University in my undergrad years. Professors expect you to have the ability to function on your own -- no hand holding! Papers are submitted online. Assignments are given through class and reiterated through Internet modules. Students communicate with professors in person but largely, by email! Assignments and papers are submitted through -- guess what --- email or an online platform! This is college! MHHS prepares kids for college by forcing them to be independent learners! I love this. I know my child will go through ups and downs, but by the end of high school will be more ready for the everyday common practice of college life. I've heard complaints about teachers not doing much during class time. In the first year, some teachers would refer kids to websites when class questions came up. My child's experience is this happens minimal but I'm sure there may be a percentage of teachers who may not be engaged. My hope is all MHHS teachers are involved in the learning process and infuse enthusiasm in their class. Every class depends on the direction and enthusiasm of their teacher. As a parent, I'm able to track my kids progress through Aeries. Other schools also use Aeries (or equivalent), so MHHS is using an accepted module for parents to stay in tune with their kids grades. Mr. Rexelle's music program is top-notch! They have won awards in competitions the last two years! The sports programs are developing with girls basketball leading the way with its success in the school's first two years. The track and football field is a impressive! This school has gone through growing pains, but I strongly feel the staff in place continues to steer the school in a positive direction. I know many of the teachers and administrators. They are good, caring people. I see this school getting better and better each year. With all the people moving to Mountain House, this school will be the prominent focus of this town. read more

My child was one of the original 10th grade class when school 1st opened. She has prevailed and the school and continuously progressed in academics yearly. I the progress and potential that Principal Forbe is trying to build the school up to. She graduates this year, has been in honor program the last year. I attended the aware ceremony. And to see that over 400 kids making A/4.0 better Honor Roll in any school was quite a successful achievement read more

My wife and I when to the MHHS to watch a play with some friends. We had a great time! Student actually cooked and served our food while we watched the play which was performed by, you guessed it, students. We love supporting our local schools and obviously our local students who are our future. The future is bright. read more

here we are again friends and family. deserve minus 10 stars **mountain house high school has completely ignored their very 1st graduating class of only 45 or so seniors. ** many of you here on fb including myself have experienced many graduations , our family , our children, our own etc and you all know about the buzz, excitement, preparation, parent involvement that happened around this event right?!?! well.....there are merely 31 days left in the school year and as parents of what was promoted by mhhs to be the most exciting and unique experience being the schools first graduating class....has been a flat out sad disappointment. did you know? * we have only received one announcement related to our senior class and it was for a senior college information night - that's it!!!! * there isn't a single exciting piece of information about seniors on their website - please go look mhhs.lammersvilleschooldistrict.net *first order on the news of their website is "chromebook inventory" really?!?!? * you will see nothing in their news about any activity or graduation event but instead there's: library journal for sale, college credits for classes, oh and this one is the kicker folks...winter percussion brings home the 1st championship!!!!!! hmmmm i wonder why this makes their news , could it be because the principal has a personal interest in band!!!!! *there isn't a single section of the site that showcases the senior class , nothing for the students and nothing for the parents *you will see junior senior prom on the calendar which is this weekend but where is the fun announcement *about half of the 45 senior students aren't going on any senior trip because they can't afford it being over $500. apparently their is rumor that there was a fundraiser over spring break - we got nothing and our son got nothing, nothing about any attempt to raise funds so all seniors had a chance to raise money for their trip. *as a parent we have not gotten one email regarding sr prom, fundraisers, sr grad night, graduation!!!!!! graduation?????? other than volunteer hour reminders. are you kidding me? to make all this worse i have called and emailed over 20 times throughout the year raising my hand offering to help, asking who is in charge, can i put together newsletters, etc etc etc. none of my questions have been answered. i got a few responses from the vice principal brian schum just this past week, and this is what they consist of: 1: let me see what i can find out ...week later 2: i haven't forgotten 3: i'm waiting to hear back from sr adviser 4: (just today keep in mind) would you be interested in organizing a sr sober grad night as much as i am very supportive of a sober grad night , im so furious that this is an idea just now with only 31 days left in the year- this means my fears are real and that nothing is being done to help make this a memorable experience and its so disheartening mhhs has ignored and forgotten the poor hard working sr class and im disgusted. the community has to know! no wonder so many mountain house parents chose to keep their kids at kimball high school in tracy. moms n dads please rethink having your senior at this school who only cares about volume, $$ they get per seat and last but not least - the band ( i love instruments, music , and appreciate bands a lot but this should not be a high schools only focus) spread the word. - just a loving mom- read more
