My daughter loves going to Mathnasium. She's only 6 and I've seen a great improvement in her math confidence. She loves the staff, in-class activities, and the reward/prize system. Highly recommend! My daughter is in 5th grade and has always struggled in math. We have tried Kumon and JEI in the past and so far we have been really pleased with Mathnasium. Wonderful and knowledgeable staff that cater to your kids pace when it comes to learning. They get to spend 60-90 minutes per session, 3 times a week. Well worth it! I give Jonathan and the rest of the Mathnasium Livermore staff an A plus! The entire program here is well organized, and all the staff are dedicated and conscientious. A lot of tutors will have a highly credentialed individual as the owner, who then delegates everything to tutors of dubious standing, but here, the tutors are ALL highly experienced. As an example, the tutor who helped my son in calculus was retired from the Livermore Lab! Jonathan initially tutored my son and was himself also very caring and conscientious. In fact, he and the other tutors really helped my son in an extremely difficult subject, also taking a personal interest in him as well. Enrolled our 2 kids here to help them get up to speed in math. From the moment we were helped Jonathan assessed them and found the problem areas in which to start. Some are true to their words, but for Mathnasium of Livermore, they have proof of these claims if you decide to send your child into their learning center. The first thing I noticed when I walked in are all the enthusiastic tutors. I rarely saw students going on their cell phones or getting distracted. Not because the staff asks them to put it away, but because somehow, by some black magic, the kids are interested in learning the material that the Mathnasium instructors are giving. Even walking in you can sense an academic learning environment that you would find if you were to walk into a University Library. Every student is treated differently, even though there are standard guide lines to follow. Jonathan Bleecker, the Mathnasium director, is flexible and honest when it comes to giving your child what he/she needs. If he feels the Mathnasium isn't right for your child, he will recommend other tutoring places that specializes in different ways that a person learn. To him, I can tell it's not completely about the money and that he genuinely cares about the success of each and everyone one of his students (he remembers all the names of every student who walked in during my visit!). This tutoring center is very different from others and really appealed to my 16 yr old daughter, who was not at all interested in math. Her trouble with algebra and lack of interest was not relieved by private, school-based, or professional (e.g., Kumon) tutoring. She has been going to Mathnasium in Livermore for about 3 months, is steadily improving, and still looks forward every time she goes there. The major factor is undoubtedly the tutors, lead by Joe Bleeker, and include Colin and several others, who spend personal time with the students and are super helpful and smart. read more

Jonathan and his staff have been so amazing...My daughter really loves math and when asked what her favorite subject was, Izzy would always answer in excitement, "Math!" Even still she and I both knew that she was struggling a bit and her grades were reflecting it. Not wanting Izzy's enthusiasm and desire to learn to die I searched for different options that would work for her personality but also challenged her socially. When I first spoke to Jonathan over the phone regarding her math and social challenges he was completely understanding and scheduled her assessment. I left the phone call feeling optimistic and hopeful that Mathnasiam was the solution for my daughter. When we went through the assessment that feeling continued. Jonathan spoke directly to Izzy and explained the difference between tests and assessments in her 10 year old language. He continued to also teach me through speaking with her where there were possibly some areas she needed to overview in order to succeed in math today. When Izzy and I first left these appointments she was very frustrated and sad but she also wanted to learn, grow and through the frustration I still saw a glimmer of hope that she knew she now had math help and can continue to love math. I am writing this review today because she has been going to Mathnasiam since mid- July and has enjoyed it. This week she has asked me if she could go to Mathnasiam and we have worked through her homework/sports schedule to find the time. What was so awesome was that today even although all Mathnasiam appointments looked full, I called and Jack (asst director) researched it, told me I could bring her in and they could see if they could accommodate. Sure enough they were able to get her in, she left with a smile on her face and wanted me to book her for tomorrow. I should also note that Izzy is succeeding in her current math class based on the fundamentals she is learning through Mathnasiam and feeling that sense of accomplishment is huge. The tutors and quiet environment have been very helpful in getting my daughter on track with her math studies. She is quite distractible, and had some issues with concepts.
