The best kept secret of the Century…read more It's Nov 12, 2016 and they just finished their 50% off end of the season sale at the designated plant outlet which is set up in the parking lot of Lancaster Farms at the intersection of Bridge Rd and Knotts Neck Rd (across from Shoulder's Hill) in Suffolk. They offered up great variety and spectacular deals. I did both my flower beds which had been completely stripped down (needed about 13 foundation plants). I purchased gardenias, abelia kaleidoscope plants, hawthorns, butterfly bush, burning bush, golden mop, several varieties of lorapetalum including purple diamond semi dwarf and the larger ruby, not to mention the 35+ pansies/violas (1.50 after 1/2 off) - all for less than $220. Are you kidding me? Please, don't change, end of the season blowout! Ever!!! If you missed it this year, pay attention next year - second week of November or so. Stalk them, if you have to...you won't regret it. I need to talk about customer service. I felt welcomed and not just tolerated like some places. Genuinely welcomed. Diane helped me 2 days in a row. I consider myself below novice. Novice negative. I had a few ideas after months of researching. I wanted certain color contrasts that would remain during Winter's gloom, certain textures, specific plants. I couldn't find what I wanted anywhere else. I also had some gaps I hadn't quite worked out yet. Diane really pulled it together for me. And there was also a gentleman who was so kind and helpful. I wish I could remember his name. I want to say Larry. Amazing staff. Can't beat the feel goods here. I discovered Diane is my neighbor. She did a drive by on her way home to check out my design and give me added boosts of confidence and suggestions in a truly neighborly fashion. Wow! Thank you. Let me tell you a little bit about the background: Lancaster Farms has been around since 1964. It's not a direct-to-customer model. They are a major distributor of top grade plants and trees to commercial, professional and retailers locally as well as Nationally. Their motto is 'If we don't grow it, we don't sell it'. (And, let me tell you their plants are healthy! Not like some places where you get 50% off because it's infested with some kind of rot or nearly dead.) Typically, you can't access a nursery of this magnitude as a consumer but they now offer the plant outlet at varying times of the year and you can order other items such as certain pre-selected types of trees online and pick them up at this location. Yes. Please. And Thank You. Amen. 10 star

The others did (all were in the same bed). Brought the sickly tree back for a replacement and they said tough luck!!! They do NOT stand behind their products. They offer NO gaurentee. Staff was rude. Buyer beware. I will never go back. Don't say you weren't warned. If you don't care if your investment dies and are made of money then go ahead. But every other nursery tries to compensate in some way for losses of their product. They offered nada. Nothing. Zip. Said I'm sh$t out of luck!

I've gotten materials here on multiple occasions. Great experience awesome support, great pricing…read moreand I was in and out very quickly.

This is my second delivery from Tri-City Materials, for the same kind of stone (River Rock). I…read morethought the first load was light, meaning that I didn't the full 2 yards I ordered and paid for. I mentioned this to the lady at the stone yard's ordering window, when I placed the second order. I also confirmed how many bucket scoops of each kind of bucket I could expect and took pictures of the buckets. When the driver arrived, the load looked to be 2 yards. However, when he proceeded to dump, I could tell that the load wasn't quite right, but figured I could work with it. This delivery was so filled with clay that I had to quadruple my work by loading the stone in the wheelbarrow and rinsing it several times, before placing it. I guess they made sure I got my 2 yards of material, even if the same amount of stone was the same as the first load. Overall, the ordering process was straight forward, the delivery came when they said it would, the driver was extremely courteous (he called me "Sir" a whole lot), and the cleaned stone was the proper size. I'll let you be the judge on if my assessment is accurate or inaccurate, based on the attached images. If possible, I would say you should try to be there when they are loading up, if you can swing it and coordinate it with them. My recommendation is Buyer Beware. UPDATE 14AUG2023 The is a re-post of the update I also made on my Google review. I contacted the company as requested. I said that the Load Master should have caught the heavy clay issue, especially since it would have likely required multiple buckets. I was told that the stone on rare occasions is not sufficiently cleaned before leaving the sourcing rock yard. The rep said that they also run the loader and that they agreed with me and would meet with whoever loaded mine to discuss. I got the genuine impression from the rep I talked to that this was an deviation from how they do business and somebody went off script. I received a refund for 1/2 of my order (they did this on their own with no prompting from me) ,and the process was straight forward and smooth. Based on the consideration I received and swiftness of action, I have changed my rating from 2 to 4 stars.

There are those days when you just want to get flowers for the person you care about...then realize…read moreyou're living in Norfolk and you have never seen a florist shop here. Luckily (in my case) I took a chance and stepped into Sunflower Florist last last Valentine's day and anniversary and got exactly what I was looking for! What's even better was that I didn't pay my life-savings for a dozen roses! Even on Valentine's day, I paid around $10 for a dozen, long-stem roses and I couldn't have been happier! Of course, like any florist shop, they have packages with stuffed animals, balloons, vases, exotic flower, etc etc, that will cost you upwards of 70-80 bucks, but if you just want some basic stuff like me, then it's your place! When I've gone in, I need to knock and have them buzz me in which I thought was a little strange (but I guess flowers are a hot commodity?) and the shop was definitely small (which might be an understatement). Also, I did see some less-than-perfect flowers around which is always a little disconcerting. However, the people that helped me were so incredibly nice and friendly and assured me that they would pick out the best flowers for me and make it look great (which they did!). Overall, I would recommend this place if you need some flowers in the Ghent area. As with any flower shop, you probably want to go pick out the flowers yourself to make sure you know what you're paying for, but it was exactly what I was looking for and I plan to go back next February 14th!

I spoke with Justin at Sunflower Florist while inquiring about wedding day floral arrangements…read more During our consultation call, Justin was very helpful and broke down the costs of each of the arrangements my fiancé and I wanted. I let him know our budget of $600 for flowers and over the phone he estimated that what we wanted would likely come out to just over 1,000 with Sunflower Florist. Sunflower Florist was the first floral shop I reached out to and when I told Justin this, and he sensed my sticker shock, he told me to take some time to think on it and to reach out to other florists in the area to price compare. I was surprised that he advised the latter but really respected and appreciated his suggestion. As I researched other florists and thought more about what we wanted, Justin continued to check-in and follow up to see if we were still interested in having the shop do our wedding flowers. While, we ultimately accepted a kind offer from a coworker to arrange our flowers, we really appreciated Justin's follow-up and customer service.

My husband and I visited Lowe's today prepared to spend over $500 on lumber for a home project…read more Unfortunately, the associate in the lumber department refused to assist us, which resulted in us leaving without making a purchase. The only boards available on the floor were severely warped, had raw edges, and were clearly defective and unusable. We noticed new, usable inventory stored overhead and asked if he could bring down approximately 16-18 boards so we could buy them. He refused and told us he could not move the inventory unless all of the defective material on the floor was sold first. At no point did he offer to ask for help, call another associate, or suggest a solution. He did not ask us to wait or attempt to assist in any way. Instead, he insisted that we purchase the damaged and unusable boards. Because of this refusal to provide basic customer service, Lowe's lost a sale of over $500 and likely future business as well. As customers ready and willing to make a significant purchase, we expected reasonable assistance and access to quality merchandise. This experience was unprofessional and disappointing, and it has seriously impacted our trust in Lowe's. We hope management addresses this issue so that other customers do not encounter the same situation.
