If you want to shop in San Angelo in the summer without melting away, this is the place to come. I was sad to see how fewer choices there were, though. JC Penney, Dillards and Marshalls are the big anchor stores. There definitely needs to be more food choices (oh, how I missed Karmelkorn from the late 80s!) and some more variety in shopping, but it's a much more comfy way to spend a few hours than driving around, parking, shopping, driving around, parking..... What's disturbing is that so much space has been given over to services like cell phones and military recruiting. Those will not attract high foot traffic, families, teens or even the college crowd. Please, management, add more retail, especially women's clothing. There's an Ulta, but a Sephora would be nice. Upgrade, please! What about adding an ice rink or roller rink?

I enjoy wandering the aisles, even when I don't need anything specific, or I have already grabbed whatever I came in for. I typically peruse the stationery, home section (candles), and the personal care section (I like to see what's new and exciting). This Target is EXTREMELY average, at best. It's in pretty decent shape, and appears to be maintained properly by the staff (which is sometimes too much to ask), and the employees are nice enough. I'm not particularly sure what I expected coming into this Target, but I was pleasantly surprised with what I received. It's nothing special, but it's decent for sure. I'm sure I'll be back while I'm in the area.

Yet, when I stopped by this location this week (twice- one to shop and once for a return), I was surprised to see the smiling cashier. She was apologizing for the line being so long, but we were all returns and that was the register she happened to be working. I didn't mind at all. After returning my item, and like the day before, I wandered around the store telling myself I wouldn't spend more than $20. Needless to say, I did spend more than that, but I wasn't disappointed. The store is clean and the selection's okay. The only real issue for me was that I made 3 visits to the dressing room where the first attendant was nice and the one for the next two visits seemed bothered by having to help people. This is actually common for Ross, so it was pretty minor in my eyes.

The clothing was more urban styles maybe because of the area. The kitchen and indoor household items had a good variety and the prices were about 20-40 off retail. I bought a towel rack that could be installed over a cabinet door for the kitchen or bathroom. This store was about half the size of a Marshall's. They also had electronic accessories like you would see at other discounted retail stores. It was easy to shop, I will visit it again to see what item they get periodically.

When I went in to pick it up, instead of just handing me the box, they opened it and reviewed each item with me to make sure the correct thing was shipped and I was happy with it. Then they packaged it all nicely in a shopping bag with tissue, making it feel so upscale. I was definitely impressed with the experience. The store itself is beautiful inside.

Like only one other Big Lots I've been to, they had a furniture section of couches, beds, recliners, etc. Most just have the bookshelves and TV stands. Anyways, we browsed and purchased a bunch of stuff we didn't need, but really wanted. Also, they always have food that wasn't a big hit at other bigger stores and may be hard to find. This location was no exception! We found some cool stuff. I've been back about once a week since I went a few weeks ago. :)

I've never seen such poor customer service! I went to Big Lots today looking for a skeleton for Halloween. There were only two in the store but one was broken and missing an arm and one was missing a leg. I asked the sales representative if I could take a leg from the broken skeleton to complete the other. The sales representative said i'm Sure we can discount them and you can buy both if them. She called the store manager, a young Hispanic man, to ask him to discount the skeletons which he did. The skeletons were priced at $16.00 each. The store manager discounted them to $13.99 each and they were both broken! After the store manager discounted them, the sales representative rang them up and put them in a bag without telling me how much they were after the discount. I asked the sales representative hos much the discounted price was and she said $13.99. I asked her if it was 413.99 for both and she said, yes. When I left the store, I checked my receipt because the total seemed to high and it was. They had charged me $13.99 EACH for two broken skeletons! I went back to the store to return the skeletons and after I explained to the "manager" that I didn't want the skeletons that they couldn't take them back and give me a refund because they were damaged and he had given me a discount so I paid $27.20 for two broken skeletons when I understood that I was paying $13.99 for both! Lesson learned and shame on the "manager" and his lack of customer service. He lost a customer over $27.20.

I went back because one of my wheel weights had been left off and the alignment was off. They said they fixed it but it is still shaking terribly. So now I'm going to have to pay Discount Tire to do the job Sam's was already paid to do. I will never use this service from Sam's again. Also my black rims were freshly scratched when I picked up my car.
