Sunset Mall was such a big part of my life when I lived in San Angelo. I was sorry to see that so many of my favorite stores were no more, but the mall has been updated somewhat and is still quite nice. If you want to shop in San Angelo in the summer without melting away, this is the place to come. I was sad to see how fewer choices there were, though. JC Penney, Dillards and Marshalls are the big anchor stores. There definitely needs to be more food choices (oh, how I missed Karmelkorn from the late 80s!) and some more variety in shopping, but it's a much more comfy way to spend a few hours than driving around, parking, shopping, driving around, parking..... What's disturbing is that so much space has been given over to services like cell phones and military recruiting. Those will not attract high foot traffic, families, teens or even the college crowd. Please, management, add more retail, especially women's clothing. There's an Ulta, but a Sephora would be nice. Upgrade, please! What about adding an ice rink or roller rink? read more

Since I believe it is the only one in San Angelo I can only be a fan of this place unless I want to drive what? 3 hours to San Antonio? It has your major staple stores that are anchoring a place along with its usual satellites. The food court can be disappointed since they're only about 2 or 3 would seem like places that are open now but there are some places to eat near this mall. I mean..... It's a mall, what could you really expect? This mall is a bit dated, although I think it has had some upgrades in the last several years, it's definitely still showing its age. However, in terms of shops, there's about everything you might expect to see in an average American shopping mall. There are several of the large department stores as well as of course several smaller stores that are quite popular. Obviously wandering around the free AC when it's smoldering outside is a benefit, and there's a nice little food court area. I don't understand all the hate on malls. If you hate them don't go. Done. Boom. Anyways, if you have young children then I can't see how you wouldn't like malls. Stroller friendly, lots of AC and space to move around. Stores to peruse through. I will always buy something, maybe small maybe large, every time I come because my family enjoys being able to walk around freely in the AC when it's 102 in August. Where to start? The only way I can write a good review on this place would be pros vs. cons. Pro's- This mall is hardly ever packed, it's convenient to the people that like to do quick shopping! They offer big clothing/show stores such as JC Penny's, Dillard's, Marshall's, Bealls, FootLocker, Finishline, WetSeal, And Finishline. They offer like 3 more major brand stores but I can't think of the names. The mall offers free WiFi throughout the whole mall. Parking is always great due to the lack of customers. Con's- I hate calling this place a "mall", it's farrrrrrr from one. I consider this a shopping strip at BEST! Everything in every store is so overpriced, you literally have to use a coupon just to get a decent price. In most malls there's always a decent food court correct? Well there's three stores. Chick-Fil-a which is a huge plus and a Chinese place. There's another food place that basically utilizes a microwave to "cook" all products (stay away from that food, it made me feel wheezy)! You can walk from one side of the mall to the other side in a matter of 5 minutes, and that's not exaggerating. There is very limited shopping on all items! Every time I happen to go here, there is always a distinct smell that I can't stand. Overall, every store I've been to, many employees have been very rude! Just go to Wal-Mart or Target. There's also a local Rue 21 and Maurice's in San Angelo! If you just want to check this place out for the heck of it then I say go right ahead but for shopping, don't waste your time! read more

West Texas in the summer can get hot. Real Hot. One of the ways to beat the heat is to head for the mall. Ahh, air conditioned comfort. Fairly small with JCPenney and Sears as bookends and Dillard's anchoring the middle, it's a straightforward layout. Most of the basic small shops you find in a mall are here. There's no food court, just a Chick-fil-A, a place called China Pantry, cookies and Dipping Dots (I'll edit if I'm leaving something out). If you're hungry, you're probably heading elsewhere. But when that sun is baking you, an oatmeal raisin cookie, a seat and some cool air might provide a welcomed pause. Parking's not a problem and it's the edge of town in San Angelo so it's never crowded. read more

It's a fun place to spend some time with a friend or family. I love the wide selection of stores and their food places are just great.

Was in town for a friend's wedding and needed to get a few things, so we stopped in. Some areas of the mall actually had a bad smell to them, and it just is in need of some renovations (and a few more stores). We ended up getting what we needed at Target as we couldn't find what we were looking for. read more

I will always have a soft spot for this mall since it was my first. I love the upgrades, I much more appreciate Marshalls over Old Navy, but sad to see the Kitchen Collection closed! I love that store (well I live next door to the outlets soooo.. to me I treat it like Walmart whenever I need something its within walking distance! I don't know if they still have Ulta or not but I appreciate it. I love Dillards, but I do wish they had a bigger inventory then they do, but what they have is nice. I guess it's my favorite taking in to consideration that otherwise I would have to go 3 hours to San Antonio. It's still a pretty good mall overall they have chick fill a, a mini golf place, and even a small but cool arcade. It is clean and does do things like Santa pics and Easter bunny pics and stuff like that. I live in San Angelo so I love to come here, every time I can. This place is literally dying. Carpeted floors = gross. No really name brand stores anymore besides Dillard's and JC Penny. Some boutique wanna be stores. The only reason I go is for Ulta. Luckily they have an exterior door so I don't even have to go into the mall. Malls are such a thing of the past. Turn them into senior living communities. Set them up like a mini town. This mall is a good place if you're looking for somewhere to walk around in the air conditioning after a big meal. It's also fun to people watch. The food court is really small and chik fil a is the main draw so it's really dissapointing on Sundays. I enjoy going in the arcade and shooting some hoops and getting old school on the video games. The best thing here right now is the Halloween store. It rivals any Halloween store I've visited in Texas. Lots of great costumes, props and yard decorations. Very cool. This mall is never crowded, even on the weekends, so that makes parking easier. I come here, not so much to shop, but to spend some time in the A/C, and just hang out. read more

It's a pretty decent mall with a bunch of well-known stores, or restraunts. Like, chick-Fil-a, or Game-stop, and Dillard's. But if you start going in more of the stores and know most of what's in the mall, it starts to get kind of boring, so all I have to recommend is that they should add more stores. read more

Sunset Mall needs a remodel and add more stores, yes online has changed box stores but I know there is a strong economy in San Angelo to help this mall grow and change up the center. read more

It's older place, so don't be shocked if you see stained really old carpet everywhere. It has all basic stores that you'd usually go to like Dillard's JCPenny, Marshal's, Victoria's Secret, mobile stores and Ulta. There's more, but that's the basics! Food court is non existent pretty much. Mall needs some updates for sure, can't stress that terrible carpet once again. Parking is all over the place, so that's a plus because there is never a lot of people there. read more

I am not a fan of malls because of the usual overcrowding, and the first time I went there I loved it - no one there. So don't come before 11:00AM as it looks a little sad, it fills up after. This mall has the essentials: a food court and stores. What falls short from the other malls I have been to is no movie theater and the fact that there is a designated food court but then you have some food stalls further down the mall... Who comes to the mall? Kids. And I've heard, though never seen, that the kids come here for their quinceanera. The highlight: Concho Valley PAWS. Though odd to have it in a mall. read more

Only mall in San Angelo. Has jcpenney,Bealls,Dillard's and most of the same stuff any average size mall has. Food court is kinda small but has pizza, Chinese food snd chick fil a. I've lived in San Angelo all my life and like everyone else that reviewed the un-incredible Sunset Mall, it's true. This mall is pretty terrible. I've heard rumors it is because the rent for one of the precious spaces is higher than renting your own building and to me that's ridiculous. When I can count on one hand, the only stores I visit in the mall, that's pretty pathetic. Get some variety please before you even call yourself a shopping mall. It looks more like a Ghost store mall with all the abandoned spaces. I do enjoy some of the stores (obviously less than 5), but would just much rather shop online than waste my precious gas driving here. read more

I really don't like the way two stars look up there in my review, but it's true, I've experienced better (and worse, for that matter!) at other malls in other cities. I think the first sign that this mall wasn't going to have much selection was the fact that it's carpeted. That, I'm not going to lie, was a first. I was just killing some time and had been told the Humane Society was located inside the mall. I thought that was strange, but searched it out. With the exception of the three guys hassling me at the T-Mobile kiosk, it was an okay experience. Seriously, these guys were so bothersome that when I was retuning to where I parked on my way out of the mall (I'd entered through Beals), I took a totally different route and left the mall through another exit. I'll probably take my husband here simply because he doesn't believe me about the mall being carpeted. Otherwise, they don't have much of what I'd need or want. read more

For being the only mall in town, Sunset Mall has a woefully small assortment of shops. The first time I saw it, I said, "Well, looks like I'll be ordering most of my clothes online." I will say though the Dillards here is great; nice shoe department and they usually have some good sales at the end of the season. A Victoria's Secret with an extremely picked through selection. I'm at the awkward age where I don't want to dress like a high schooler but I'm not an old lady either, so the American Eagle, PACSUN and Wet Seal aren't doing me much good. I do like the Buckle, but find it hilarious they sell $100 jeans to the populace here. A Bath and Body Works and that is pretty much it for the mall. No defined food court, but there is a cookie place, a Chik-Fil-A, and a Taco Bell...and a really terrible Chinese place. read more

This mall is not the best and the places it has to offer also aren't the best. It is a subpar mall with not that many great places to shop. It does have a Bath & Body Works, Victoria's Secret, American Eagle, but those are about the only places that are remotely located in the mall. Very disappointing. read more

A lot of unique mom and pop type stores. Not many brand stores except jcp and Macy. All stores are usually dirty, disorganized, and a mess. Exceedingly small eatery section with 50% of it closed on Sunday. The few known stores that are visited usually have super small or super huge sizes. Lots of limits to what brand stores usually carry. I do most of my shopping online because I can never find what I need. read more

The mall has an okay bunch of stores, but they definitely need an upgrade. Especially in the food court, where there's only 3 places to eat (2 on Sunday), and 2 cookie places in the mall. I also think it's pretty funny that the buckle sells jeans for so much because nobody in this town can actually afford to dress that way. This mall sucks. It has NONE of my favorite stores and it's so tiny. It takes me not even 20 minutes to roam around and end up empty-handed. I guess I'll have to settle for online shopping or have massive shopping sprees when I visit Austin or San Antonio. read more

Entire mall smells like mildew. It is quite fragrant. They need to rip out the carpet and get tile. I will not be returning.

I have been to Dillards in Sunset Mall, not to happy about it. I wanted to purchase some make up from them. When I asked for the foundation I wanted I was told that they did not have any due to they did not have any of the products I requested besides the foundation. The sales rep told me she would have to order the products then I would have to go in and pick it up. If I wanted to pick up the products I could have ordered them online and received my products that way. Not happy with Dillards at all. They also have too many young people that dress and wear their makeup like they are looking for a date read more

From what I hear it used to be a really great mall until the 90s. Now it smells like some chemical agent and mold combined throughout the entire building. Sears is the worst, had to turn around and walk out, literally smelled like death. Stores were sparse and seemed to be kid themed. Sad pathetic place to call a mall. read more
