The staff here are always helpful and very nice. I usually can find exactly what I need and the prices are pretty reasonable.

Petsense - Left picture is taken literally on the way to petsense. Right picture does NO justice as to how mangled my dog looks let alone the cut.

It's right off the interstate: great. You'll pull into the parking lot and dash inside, and find a natural anxiety remedy and a diffuser full of some kind of cat pheremone that promises to calm them down. You'll be saved by Petsense! Also, their bathrooms are very clean. Strong recommend and thanks for the rescue, Petsense.

My dog had an appointment to be groomed by this horrendous place 10/17/15 at 12:30, I received a…read morecall at 11:24 am informing we could come early so I got there about 11:40ish and after talking to the two female employees I left. I was literally gone for 10-15 minutes before I received another phone call from Sasha at 12:13 informing me that my dog had been "nicked" and she "may' need to go to the vet, I asked was she okay she replied yes. I immediately got in my car and went to check on her when I arrived she looked scared to death and as I looked at this so called "nick" I saw the blood and a GASH and my dogs BONE exposed. The only thing the staff asked me was "do you want me to continue", not sure who in their right mind would even think to ask that let alone actually do so beats me but NO I did NOT allow these people to finish also being Saturday our vets in our area close half a day usually so I pressed for time. My dogs usual vet was closed as well as Lake Country so I had less than 30 minutes before Roanoke Animal Hospital closed and thankfully/luckily they saw us although they have never seen her before. My dog ended up requiring to be put to sleep, getting stitches and glue over top of that due to the injuries these negligent unprofessional people caused. They not once called me, I had to CONTACT THEM once I got home around 1:30ish and when I immediately asked for a manager I was advised one was not there but they could help me so I explained what happened, I was then transferred to grooming department which anyone that just experienced this would of felt the exact same way that I did and that was that I did not want to speak to these people who didn't know the difference between a nick and her bone exposed. As I again asked why I was transferred to them and wanted to speak with a manager I had to re-explain or try but as I was trying to do so this employee did nothing but interrupt me, talk over me and wouldn't let me express my concerns and only infuriated me more as she constantly repeated and downplayed what they did to my dog, and continued to use the word NICKED. As I tried to explain but was again talked over and cut off that this was not a NICK, there is a huge difference she explained that 'if I would have stayed long enough to go over and complete an incident form" I was not told about this when I arrived or when she initially called me to tell me they "nicked" my dog, the only thing they mentioned when I arrived was did they want me to continue grooming her. & I wasn't aware I should be up to date and know the facilities policies and procedures ... then she proceeds to tell me that if I would of read the form I signed about matting, let me explain my dog is 9 years old and a teacup maltese when I arrived to this place she that was now on the phone telling me what to do and blame me for their negligence and injuries to my dog stated she was not matted all over and had a few places and it was NOT to the skin. I have NEVER had an issue with this EVER and never went through this nightmare. She states it explains they may get nicked, again Nicked.... Let me explain to you again HER BONE WAS EXPOSED AND SHE WAS BLEEDING. SHE REQUIRED SEDATION AND STITCHES AND GLUE! then as I try to explain to this arrogant witch that I have never had this issue before and they can't try to blame her being matted and all she was doing was trying to cover her tail she proceeds to tell me that "i should be taking better care of my baby" so then I proceed to tell her my choice of words and hang up on her. Not once were they going to send an incident report off or call me to check on my dog, I had to call them. The fact that they did this and rushed is ridiculous as well as how this employer spoke to me. The female cutting my dog I found out AFTER was in training, do you think they mentioned this to me? NO they didn't not once and not. It should be required to tell this and if so she would not of touched my dog, who is literally 4 lbs. I also have documentation where someone that knows me and my dog was in the store and confirmed Tootz which is my dog was not moving and was sitting still so there is absolutely no excuse for this, especially to the degree of how bad they did this. I also have had NUMEROUS people inbox me including someone who previously groomed her but moved tell me they have NEVER seen something like this. It looks as if she had nothing but the BLADE out and sliced my dog open or cut her with scissors. No one should be allowed to do this or continue and then to act and talk to someone the way they did is beyond unprofessional on so many levels. I posted a picture as well as NUMEROUS pictures of what they did to my dog, as well as how she was half way groomed before and after pictures on my facebook because this needs to be known and an employee who was not even there has put their unprofessional two cents into this and the statements they made as well are unprofessional.

I wanted some tank mates for my Betta mainly a ghost shrimp or freshwater snail. They did not have any shrimp and the snails were ALL ate by the fish in their tank, is what I was told, just a bunch of empty shells. So I chose 2 different fish but the first one wasn't for sale because it was a fish they used for breeding, so was my next choice... So I just got 2 different fish. The place was cluttered and dirty but this time the person working there was nice. I think this place has potential but it needs to be ran like a pet shop and not a garage sale. One more thing that was aggravating is a lot of animals are not for sale, IT'S A PET STORE isn't it?

The only places left I know of are in Rocky Mount (PetSmart) and Raleigh, nothing near where I live. Pet stores are very high in overhead and labor and it's not profitable. I feel sorry for people who try so hard -for the love of pet ownership- and have no chance. The pet industry is going away and I'm sad about it. It's getting hard to find any fish/birds for sale, no variety etc. I was at the pet smart a week ago and they had ONE green cheek conure and nothing else. Please patronize any pet store you can find so hopefully they can stay in business. If you have pets, take really really good care of them; they deserve no less.

Erin and Cooper are incredibly patient and skillful. Erin managed my VERY difficult doodle after many other groomers told me they wouldn't be able to handle him. She not only completed the groom with such skill but she was patient with me and listened to my concerns/questions in advance so that we could both feel comfortable. They kept me updated and the pricing is very fair -- great value for service! I can't recommend this place enough--Erin has a special touch that you won't find with your average groomers! My dog was very comfortable with Erin and Cooper plus their treats are now my pup's new favorite. (Obi says thanks for the Dino too!!)

It was on the Neighborhood Pet Bingo card so I stopped in to get a stamp. While there I browsed the selection and picked out some toys and treats. They were good quality and pricy, but comparable in price to other local pet stores. This shop is unique in that they offer their fresh dry pet food as a self fill station where you pay by weight. Pet Wants offers pick-up and delivery as well. The employee working the counter was welcoming and helpful. Overall, we had a positive experience here and recommend this shop to others!

I walked in and......crickets........it was like a ghost town. There was music playing overhead and the lights were on, doors unlocked, so it has to be open, right?? I walked around for about 5 minutes, clearing my throat, saying "hello?" in all the departments...and this is a small store so it wasn't that difficult. FINALLY a lady came out from the back in the shoe department and I asked her if she could help me with a return in jewelry. She said yes but then kept looking over and around for someone in jewelry. I told her it was like Night of the Comet, there is no one anywhere. She didn't think it was funny. I handed her the receipt and she snapped, "where is the receipt?" Yikes! She then started telling me she didn't see the barcode so I started sweating it until thankfully, it was on the bottom of the watch box. Now, normally, I take full advantage of a return by buying something else. 1. The watching was a Betsy Johnson watch and the lady in shoes didn't know who Betsy Johnson was. They did not have any Betsy Johnston in jewelry nor anything I would want in it's place. I guess all Belk stores are VERY different. 2. I was sort of afraid to continue going through the store as desserted as it was to stroll and see if there was something else I wanted to buy. It takes a lot to get me to not shop...just sayin. 3. The lady that took my return was probably the one who would check me out and honestly, I didn't have time to find her again, nor sweat whether or not I was going to be allowed to make a purchase. Come on Roanoke Rapids Belk....get it together. You don't have a lot of shopping options. It's a shame that someone can't feel comfy in Belk.
