They really care about animals and it shows. I have been to veterinary hospitals that were obviously in business for money. Plenty of chain hospital with serial doctors coming and going. These doctors own the business and will be here tomorrow. My dog, Nina, has been a patient of Trussville Animal Hospital since February of 2025…read more A little background on the patient Trussville Animal Hospital (TAH) has been treating. Nina is considered a giant breed & is also considered a senior dog. She weighs about 132 lbs. Nina's first veterinarian at TAH was Dr. Kelly Bauuman. She was excellent. Dr. Bauuman retired this May (2026). She did a phenomenal job of treating and caring for Nina. Knowing that Dr. Bauuman was retiring soon, Nina switched to Dr. Zach Toves so that he could monitor her symptoms past Dr. Bauuman's projected retirement date at the time. Dr. Zach Toves joined Trussville Animal Hospital as a veterinarian in January of 2026. My senior, Great Dane, Nina, has been seeing Dr. Toves since his first week at TAH. Dr. Toves formed a treatment plan for Nina's extensive arthritis (back, hind legs, and hips). The treatment plan is a relatively new approach to treating arthritis. Some of the things I appreciate about Nina's care from Dr. Toves are how he discussed different treatment options and made sure I understood any risks or potential outcomes, and how he addressed difficult topics with an empathetic spirit and with what was genuinely best for Nina, my dog. Dr. Toves is always putting the patient first. Dr. Toves has given me more time with my dog, whom I cherish, and has given Nina a lot more time to enjoy life. Nina's arthritis symptoms were debilitating. Under Dr. Zach Toves' care, Nina's symptoms are minimal now. She is able to play and run as she did prior to arthritis. She is aging with grace & I am thoroughly ecstatic about the results of this relatively new treatment for arthritis.
