We normally use petco grooming at the 280 location but they were full -they always are booked up. When I looked at trussville I wondered why there were so many next day openings. Then I arrived today 10 minutes early for my appointment and met Dee. The first thing out of her mouth wasn't a pleasant greeting it was you are early. Now I see the problem after my two verbal Interactions with her today about my dog Oreo. Why would someone want to be a dog groomer that doesn't appear to even like dogs. She never spoke to my dog. Acted like she was put out that we were even there. I asked her to call a certain number when she was finished. She didn't. She called the wrong number. So when I didn't hear from her. I called at the 3 hour mark. She starts the conversation with well your appointment was at 945. What does that have to do with is my dog ready? Don't send your dogs here if Dee is the groomer. No manager in site either. I just hope she wasn't ugly to my dog for the 3 hours he was there. read more

I was really impressed when I came here. I was able to find a few Christmas items for my fur baby all priced at 75% off! The store layout was really well arranged. Everything in the store was very organized to see , which made it easy to shop. I really loved the dog treat bar that's available ; such a huge variety of treats. It's good to see that grooming services are available. My dog has a groomer but it's always good to have a back up when needed. I despise PetSmart so that particular chain of pet stores is never an option for me. I'm really glad to have a Petco near by to meet my pet's needs. I'll definitely be visiting more often! read more

It's been terribly difficult finding a groomer here in Birmingham. A lot of businesses either closed or are not taking new clients. I made this appointment online 2 weeks out, it was the first available appointment. I received a confirmation email and we arrived on time. When we arrived, I was informed that Aspens appointment was canceled because stylist was in quarantine. I was told that they tried to call me but they didn't have a number. The associate told me she would have to reschedule for another day. I was very upset and the next associate who came out didn't make it better. She was verbally aggressive and defensive. I asked why I never received a cancellation email the way I received a confirmation email. Another associate, Jamie, came out and her tone was much calmer. She deep dived and saw there were 2 accounts for me, one which had no contact info. Jamie said they would work Aspen in and that she would take care of her. I left Aspen and received a text a few hours later that she was ready. I seriously love her new cut. She looks like a totally different puppy. Jamie saved the day and saved me as a customer. I will absolutely go back for more grooming and pet needs. read more

We came in looking for some specialty food that our vet recommended for our dog's kidney issue. We searched the store, and eventually one of the staff saw us and asked if they could help. They confirmed that they did NOT carry the food, sadly. The rest of the store was fairly laid out. They had an area for dog trainings. Large selection of aquariums and equipment. The dog area was actually smaller than I would have thought. Everything was kept very clean. As far as adopting an animal and taking it home - they had areas for cat adoptions, but none were there that day. They also had birds, lizards, various fish, a few turtles, ferrets (a surprise), and hamsters. I may be missing a few, but you get the gist. read more

So just came in here to grab a couple of things. No one was at the checkout counter. An associate actually came to the area to get something saw me standing in line and still walked away. So after about 5 minutes I found 3 associates and asked could someone check me out. No one Said a thing they all just acted like I wasn't talking to them, no response. One of them just truend around and walked to the register. What kind of customer service is this? Then I was going to try and talk to the groomer and ask questions about potentially bringing my pups for training but it was taking her forever to set up something on another customer phone. Again didn't say hust a moment or even acknowledged I was there. I just left. I think I'll stick to PetSmart from now on. read more

Petco is not our usual pet supply store, but we were on the hunt for a specific type of food for our pup that our usual place didn't carry, so we stopped by. The store is fairly new, and still has that new store shine. After perusing the aisles for a minute, we were asked if we needed any help. The attendant immediately told us they didn't carry that product, but offered an alternative vitamin. The vitamin really wouldn't have done much of anything, so we left without purchasing anything. But if I'm in the area, I wouldn't hesitate stopping here again. read more

Nice store. Staff was very helpful and friendly. However, the in store price of the product I needed was shown online as almost 30% less than the actual price I paid. read more

I absolutely LOVE PetCo and the groomers at this location. My dogs get excited to see the girls and I never doubt that I'm leaving my furbaby in the greatest hands. These amazing group of ladies are always so nice, caring and pleasant to work with. Hands down the best and definitely won't go anywhere else! read more

If anyone is like me and obsessed with your pet then this place is definitely for you. I'm always skeptical of taking my girls anywhere afraid they may act out or that the groomer might be mean to them. The first time I took my baby and got her nails clipped ,buffed and polished sewing that she will never allow me to at home. I informed the groomer about her paranoia and was embarrassed when in about 5 minutes her she comes with Izzy .i thought to myself she must've not been able to do them never that quick but she had cut ,buffed and polished her nails so that day we made friends and have been going there ever since. read more

If you are thinking of using Petco for your pets prescription medication, consider looking elsewhere. The pharmacy they use are idiots. I had a prescription for my dog that had refills, and they caused me to have to get a new prescription twice because they wouldn't recognize what "refills" meant. And my latest experience... this prescription has 6 refills, I placed the order through their web site, it automatically took the payment out of my PayPal account, then I get an email that they are waiting on an approval from my vet!! The whole purpose for refills is, that your doctor has PRE APPROVED that many more fills of that prescription before needing to go back to the doctor for approval. I tried to call their pharmacy, got a message that they were experiencing technical difficulties, try my call later. So I talked with Petco twice, they were to get in touch with them and tell them I had pre approval, they were told that the pharmacy couldn't find my refills, even though they are listed on the bottle, well today I get an update that the order was canceled and I got a refund from PayPal. Wonderful. Just what you're looking for when your pet really needs that medication! read more

Where do i even begin, this place is the trash of the trash . Took my GOLDEN DODDLE to get groomed asked for just to be cleaned up puppy cut , yes she is still a puppy . Appointment was at 10:00 , i had to call them around 2:00 they told me my puppy had an accident and had to ask them what kind of accident she apparently she pooped in her cage . When i went to pick her up 1. You pay before you even get to see your dog , and when i was waiting i saw an groomer with glasses and long ponytail grab this poor dog and tell them to "shut up" how disgusting can petco employees be ? Finally they brought my puppy out and the SHAVED her , no phone call no alert no message no thing , claimed she was matted which is a damn lie because she is brushed regularly and gets a normal home bath once a week . Also when i picked her up she didn't even smell like she got a bath , how do 1. Shave a dog without owner's approval and 2. Charge almost 100 dollars for shaving a puppy that did not need to be shaved . Do not take your dog here , this place is just looking for money they don't care about the clients or the dogs that come here . read more

I made the appointment online, which was a mistake, because it took longer than the website said (5 hours!!!) and cost more than the website said. I won't do that again. However, the dog looked amazing. Even so, I will think twice before I put him through the trauma of a 5-hour visit. read more

It was our 1st time using Petco and they did a great job! Our pup had several bad grooming experiences before going here. She was way past due for a spa day! Petco did a fantastic job with the correct style our type of dog is supposed to have. I was very pleased and will definitely use them again. read more

My frenchie and I cannot get enough of this place. I literally pass a pet store right by my house and drive another 10 minutes to Petco because I love it that much. It's kind of like how people prefer target over Walmart. Customer service is AMAZING. All employees are so friendly and very engaged in all pets that come in the store. They have a treat bar, like Whole Foods! You can pick an array of treat for your dog and cat. They even have grain free treats. And my puppy loves them! We've done puppy training here as well and Jessica was our trainer. Super sweet and worked very very well with my dog. She's great with animals. Also, their home section is great. They have lots of high end pet accessories (treat containers, food bowls, beds, clothing) at very reasonable prices. If you don't know exactly what you need, they are very knowledgeable and will let you know right where to find everything and what is best for your pet. 5 stars for me! read more
