It was a Saterday and we were buying 2 boards as to R&R the bad ones (many others warped but not as bad). I told the MOD about them and before I could tell her how bad they were she said that boards will warp. Yep boards will warp, however do not think customers are a fool and do not know what normal warping is and what is so bad that it pull the hangers loose I wrote Corporate and got no respond. Then I called the office an the manager of the La Grange store then wrote me this email Hello Mr. *****. We did get your email about the 2x6x16 you had purchased. I am sorry and there may be some misunderstanding about this. When you talked to the ladies at the front desk they asked you when you bought the boards and you were not sure. The boards you brought in that day had no paint on the ends. All of our boards are color coded and have been for over 2 years. Our return policy is 30 days with receipt. We need proof of purchase in order to do a return or exchange and would have to be within the 30 day window. We try to help everyone we can with looking up receipts but we need the customers to offer more info. Being that you have no receipt or when the time of purchase and the boards do not have paint on the ends it may be possible they were purchased elsewhere. I buy from different places myself and I have made a mistake of thinking I bought from one place and it happen to be somewhere else. We would love to help but we need a proof of purchase. I can go over the 30 days but we have to make sure the boards were purchased here. Hope you understand. I have a bookkeeper that I send a scan of EVERY receipt to and can get a copy....Again it did not get past me being told that boards will warp and she did not let me tell her how bad they were warped..I was a fool for talking about warped boards. As for the boards having paint as marks ...Again it did not get that far...However they have paint on their ends (see photos) Again the MIC a AND the manager think people are fools. Just because they cannot remember where they buy things do not mean other are as ABSENTMINDED as they are I wrote back to S**** M****** making the points, and have not heard a word. So I call Corporate and got the runaround as well. Well Sutherlands did me as a customer wrong. Not so much about the boards and their cost , however the way they treated me as a customer. My guys cut the boards up to mak bracing and fire bolcks. I paid a premium for short boards ...Something I have by the 1000s. I have 1000s of shipping pallets that are made of 2x6 Douglas fir. They have seven 2x6x7'6" and eight 2x6x5'

Because we had a large delivery of nearly $2,000 worth of items, we paid extra for delivery. After they dropped everything off and took off we realized that they pulled and delivered multiple incorrect items. The items were correct on the receipt, but they simply brought the wrong stuff. Everyone makes mistakes and if they had come out and made the exchange with the corrected items it would have been fine, but they refused. We really tried. We talked with the manager, the driver, the guys we placed the order with, but they would not come back out to replace. They made us go back in there to make the exchanges. We had to borrow a truck and get everything incorrectly dropped off loaded into the truck and make the journey ourselves to make the exchange. No one was happy about this on our end. We lost time and we lost money when the workers had nothing to do because Smith Supply dropped off the wrong materials. This is really poor business and we all decided it was our last time purchasing from this company for any of our future projects or needs. We did not find them honest nor anyone we would want to buy from again. There are too many great companies to buy from and this was a really negative experience for all of us.

They always show their Texas charm and helpful ways to complete a project. Not one time in twenty years have I got any lip from any of the employees for not knowing what I was needing for a job I wasn't sure I could even do. The owner Mr. Smith taught them well and must be keeping them happy too since they seem very content in their work. It is the #1 place I go to for hen scratch, plumbing supplies, fencing and look forward every spring for vegetable plants to mull over. It's nice to have a keeper right here in town for hardware and supplies, a local gem. Thank you all for your service!

I came here yesterday to purchase a piece of equipment. They had what I was looking for and the…read moreattachment I needed. While asking questions about the product, it was discovered that the box for the item I wanted was not onto the shelf. The person assisting me answers some of my questions, however, they didn't have the answers for some of the most important ones and needed the box to provide that information. While the box was being located, I continued to shop. I didn't receive an update within a few minutes and saw how the workers were talking amongst themselves and looking a little goofy, I asked, "Did you find the box?!" They had not found it so I asked about the store hours and told them I'd be back tomorrow (which it today) to pick up my items. Well, I am here in the store now. I don't see any familiar faces and a sweet lady named Julia asked me is I needed assistance. I told her what I wanted and watched in the background as a conversation began between two employees who obviously knew what was going on with my particular situation. When Julia asked about the box, they had lost it and couldn't sell me what I needed, so now I'm dead in the water! Do better Ace Hardware!!
