The place was empty so we were hoping to get some decent service, but I had the most laughably bad experience of my cumulative dining experience. I was served a soda in a chipped, jagged plastic glass. My father was served whiskey that sat next to a bottle of vermouth and was called a manhattan. The bartender came over and told him he was wrong about his understanding of manhattans (it's the only thing he drinks and does so everywhere). We soldiered on and got an order of pretzels with the crab dip. The crab dip was rancid and our pretzels were soggy to the point of congealed. We decided to cut our losses and I went to find the waitress to close out. She had our entrees, which normally we would've eaten no matter what, but she put the two plates down, licked the barbecue sauce off her bare fingers, then picked up our food again. I explained that we don't want the food and offered to pay but they said no charge. Shortly after the manager/bartender chases after us in the parking lot and starts screaming at us, holding up my father's glass and asking us to show her the chips. I told her it was the soda glass and she responded with "so what? It's plastic." And chased us out of the parking lot like leather face at the end of Texas chainsaw massacre. Plastic can cut your lip just as easily as glass. You don't serve rotting food. You don't serve congealing bread. You train your front of house on proper food handling. I've been a foodservice professional for 11 years and was honestly flabbergasted at how cartoonishly bad this place was. In short, someone call a health inspector, a priest, and Gordon Ramsey.

Since I came towards the end of their night after the Brewers pizza party at Andy's Pizza, I wasn't particularly hungry. But I did make note of their cheese counter, where you could purchase offerings like Midnight Moon, Willoughby, and Morbier by the plate or to go by the pound. They also had a good selection of handhelds, appetizers, dinner, and brunch offerings. However, the best thing might be that, during the unpredictable government shutdown, they had the option to pay a meal or a beer forward to a neighbor in need. I also managed to enjoy their Brussel sprouts that delivered a pleasant umami bomb with its sweet Thai chili sauce and crushed peanuts. For beers, they had a right and proper mix that went beyond the IPA overload, while also having good ones like their Big Tomorrow west coast IPA. Their flights came at a reasonable price and allowed me to enjoy offerings like their Haxan robust porter, Senate Maerzen Marzen Oktoberfest style ale, and Super Carina Italian Pilsner. Factor in all of the above and a good selection of brewery games and table spaces, and they had everything I look for in a solid brewery!

I went up and down the aisles, no cart or basket, that way I would limit the amount I could purchase. I will say that the store was at least clean and organized. Even if the selection was lacking. In the end, I didn't get much, interacted with no one (self checkout), and made my way back out to my vehicle to get out of there.

We have been shopping at these outlets for decades. Many of the shops have turned over, leaving…read moreempty storefronts. However, some new stores have moved in, like Generations of Furniture. They also still have Old Navy, Chicos, Talbots, Pepperidge Farms, Under Armor, Christmas Tree Hill, Gertrude Chocolates, and others. While this shopping center isn't as robust as it once was, it's still fun to walk around and look for bargains.

Even today, when many of their pieces are made in China or Indonesia, their woolens are unmatched. The Pendleton Outlet store is a mid-size outlet store in the Gettysburg Outlet Center. It features both men and women clothing at very competitive prices and best of all, with no tax. A salient modern trend is their selection of washable woolens including soft Merino wool sweaters and shirts. The nicest part of the store is their selection of Western-inspired blankets. I fell in love with them and wished I could have bought them all.
