This is a woman who LOVES animals and really knows her stuff! She carries a great variety of products and even offers holistic options. Recently I was in there buying a large bag of Orijen pet food (the only place in the area that sells this brand), and asked her about some CBD oil for my dog. Ruby (that's my dog, not the owner) has had some hip problems and shows reluctance when laying down and getting back up. She (the owner, not Ruby) told me about Buddy, the dog for whom her store is named. Buddy had some joint problems and a lot of pain before he passed away. She showed me the products that seemed to alleviate his pain, one of them being the CBD oil and the other being Super Snouts Joint Power. Let me tell you, Ruby LOVES that Joint Power powder. I sprinkle it on her dog food and she DEVOURS it (as if she really needed any help in that area). So I can imagine the taste must be amazing to dogs! I am on vacation right now and Laura's Critter Care is taking care of Ruby, so I haven't been able to watch for progress, but I'll be anxious to see when I get home in a couple of weeks. You should also know Buddy's offers a frequent shopper program. There's a virtual punch card, so when you've bought ten bags (or is it nine?) you get a bag of food free. The second time I was in there, she was out of the large size of Orijen, but she told me that I'd get credit for that smaller bag on my punch card and still be able to get my free large bag (the size I most frequently purchase). She also offers $5 coupons along the way when you've purchased a certain dollar amount. I love that the owner doesn't just care about her customers, but she really cares about their pets too! I'm lucky enough to live within walking distance, but no matter where you live, if you're in the Amherst area, I highly suggest you check out Buddy's for some primo pet products!

They asked if anyone had any suggestions for products they'd like to see in the store. I commented on the post that I have been having a tough time finding cow tails (I know, gross). My dogs LOVE cow tails and occasionally I get them one each when I am near Animal Outfitters on Elmwood. Last time I went though, Uncle Omar didn't have any (Animal Outfitters is another great FB page to follow - hehehe!) in stock. Buddy & Friends said they would order some for me. Sure enough, when the tails came in, they commented on Facebook to let me know! Weeeeee! This store is in my neighborhood, much much closer than Elmwood. So, since I was on my way out the door to drive-thru CVS with my pups, we made another quick stop by Buddy's! I brought pups in, they sniffed around, found a couple more treats they wanted, including a 3-foot long pork stick. Haha! We picked up our tails, paid, and peaced out! The prices are amazing here. Way cheaper than other pet supply stores nearby! I love that and appreciate the lower prices. My pups and I will definitely be back. I saw some cute collars I liked for them, and the prices were half of what they are at the other store nearby!! Tomorrow is B&F's grand opening. I hope they have a great turn out. This is a really nice, well curated pet store! So glad it's in the neighborhood.

I really love to support local business and this is my go-to place for raw dog food (Shout out to…read moreDoggone Raw for the excellent food!). The store is close to home and has an easy location to get in and out. Their pet selection is pretty good and they've got a nice spread of gardening supplies as well. There's even a friendly dog who roams the place on occasion, looking for a pat on the head and a "good boy." He's my favorite employee. Not that there's anything wrong with the rest of them most of the time. Most of the time, things are "okay." Not great, not awful; okay. The line moves fast enough. They have what I need. The person who checks me out at the cash register asks the standard questions. The problem is, I have something to compare this to. Before buying our pet food from Clyde's, I used to get it from a place in Tonawanda where the people were over the top friendly and inquisitive. I get it; Clyde's can be super busy with a lot of people coming through. They don't focus on dog food and have a variety of customers with differing needs. I don't expect them to remember my name like Treats Unleashed always did. Also at the previous place, they kept my credit card on file, which made it so much easier when trying to handle three ten-pound buckets of frozen raw dog food. Not having to pull my credit card out made it a ton easier. (I also get that it's probably a lot safer for me for them to NOT store my credit card on file.) They offered to carry it out for me because while I am pretty strong, it's super awkward to carry three of these thin-handled buckets to my car when I've got arms the length of a baby T-Rex. For some dog food brands, customers get a discount. I don't know what those brands are or what the parameters are (tenth bag free? fifth bag free? $5 off two bags? No idea!). I do not get a discount for the food I buy and when I inquired about it, I was stared at like I had a third eye and told, "We don't do that." Treats Unleashed offered a discount for this brand and I don't know if it was a store policy or a brand policy, but I thought it was a fair question. Our first visit to Clyde's when we moved to Hamburg was super-positive. Everyone was really friendly and knowledgeable. We got a lot of help from one of the employees when picking out a probiotic for our dog. I do see that same worker there from time to time, but she is usually not on the cash register when I am there. I have seen a few newer workers (or people I hadn't ever run into before) on my last few visits, so maybe that has something to do with the less-friendly experiences. I overheard one worker tell a customer, "Please don't leave your things on the counter and walk away. We have grocery carts if you need them." Okay, that was helpful information, but there are nicer ways to say that and the tone was not friendly. Like I said, though, they have what we need and there's never been a reason to NOT go, but I definitely see room for a little improvement.

When you step in, you're likely to be greeted by a shop dog (the golden retriever girl is an absolute delight - loves to be pet and is the calmest pup you will ever meet). The staff I've spoken with here are always so friendly, so obviously pet owners when you have a conversation with them. There's a great amount of passion in their pets, and the products they provide at this shop! All of the treats and food here are so obviously carefully selected - the brands they have here are free of all those preservatives and by-products that your average dog treat brand has - and the best part is, they're all fairly inexpensive! I've brought home a couple of different kinds of treats from here, and my dog absolutely loves them. I found out she goes crazy for lamb and was recommended these small hard cookie treats, and she'd probably eat the whole bag if she could. They've also got some really cute apparel and accessories here! My dog is a bit too big for a lot of their outfits, which seemed to just be for tinier dogs anyway. But they've also got some really nice collars with different unique patterns on them, and leashes! Let's not forget the dog toys too - they've got an assortment of enrichment toys, eco-friendly, pull ropes - you name it. We have great interaction and she did a great job grooming my baby. I didn't like the cut and contacted them. I asked did someone else groom my dog because I didn't like it. She immediately made excuses and said "If you don't like it you get go elsewhere" I was shocked and pissed off. Haven't returned. Will not spend money where I am disrespected. PS Place never smelled clean and sometimes my dog smelled like kennel after grooming, which made me have to air out my vehicle. She was heavier dark brown haired woman could be of Latin decent but I am not sure. I called after dropping Apollo off just to see how he was doing and if he was ready. My legit words on the phone were, "Hello, my name is Rose I just dropped off Apollo and I am wondering if he is done or if it will take a more time." The response she decided to give a paying customer was rather than simply answering my question, she chose to answer my question with a question which is always rude when it comes to CUSTOMER SERVICE or life in general. I would know having worked in that field. It could also make a dog owner cautious if they're being treated rudely over the phone...how are they treating my dog? She said, "I thought I said to call at 2:30?" Now I'm always a polite person so I don't get into spats like this. No time. My mature response was, "I understand" and waited for a more polite answer. All she had to say was he wasn't ready. Duh. No need for an attitude. Then she said to call back at 2:30pm. I just hung up because I knew I would not call I will be right there at 2:30pm wait and make sure my dog is okay. I call early all the time to pick up my dog because most places just leave them in a cage to bark. He's good at grooming because I wash him at home. It doesn't take too long with him. I'd rather pick him up especially if he's done early. He's not a barker unless he has to. So I'd rather not get him into the habit of barking his head off. I got a bad vibe from the place after waiting outside for my ride I saw a Maltese break from her leash, run from her owner downtown the street into the adjacent parking lot and run around the car from her owner in fear of the impending grooming. I almost didn't want to leave my love bug after seeing that. Animals are smart, maybe that lovely little dog had a bad experience. So you can easily understand why I called just to see if he was ready and check in on him. When I showed up at 2:30pm. He was not ready. I was then told to come back 15 minutes later. I did, but was late to work where as the Allentown location is always done early; as is every other dog grooming location that I've ever taken my dog to. Every other employee I encountered was nice, but I had to write a review on this one. I never got her name. They are a lot more courteous at the Allentown location so I recommend that one. I will not be returning to this location. I only accepted this appointment because the Allentown location was completely booked and for good reason.
