I am a little surprised by all the negative reviews here. I went to TR Framing after having been to Michael's and was told that they pretty much couldn't do what I wanted. I had an oversized poster, a small glass replacement, a framing job for a smaller item that was already matted, and a matte job for a frame I had at home. The lady who was there was very friendly and was patient. She went back and forth with me to review several different pricing options. She also told me about a Groupon that I didn't know about and took $200 off. Yes, it was expensive, but I have yet to find a custom framing place that isn't. Michael's certainly is no cheaper and they won't even cut mattes or replace glass in other frames for you! When I went to pick it up, everything was ask I had specified. Frames seemed of good quality. On the poster I expressed concern that they didn't get rid of the logo from the company where I bought it. The man there said he'd re-do it, no problem. I didn't decide to do it because I didn't want to wait, but he said I could bring it back if I changed my mind. The only downside is that it took just under 3 weeks for my items. I wasn't in a hurry so it didn't matter, but probably would have been irritating if it was a present or something. Oh and I had previously gone there to get my diploma framed. I had a standard size and the guy cut a matte for me while I waited. It looked great. read more

I had the best experience at Art and Frame in Alexandria, VA. I recommend them to anyone who wants high quality framing, great prices for exceptional work, and excellent customer service. The staff is very knowledgeable on all aspects of art and framing. Everyone on staff has a keen eye for the type of frame and matte that work best for the art, picture, or item that you want framed. I was pleased with the attention to detail through the entire process when I placed my order to have a picture framed. I was very comfortable with the suggestions and decisions that were made on every detail, from the frame, glass, and matte color. I was so pleased with the first picture I had framed that I went back to have another picture framed. After that, I went back again to have art framed for a family member at an affordable price. Art and Frame is by far the best and most loyal place to go to get art and other items framed, or to buy beautiful art. I made some good friends at Art and Frame, and every time I look at my pictures, I remember how thankful I am to have had such a great experience. I will cherish my framed pictures forever. Frankly speaking I do not know on what criteria people use to comment on any product here because alot of people I came across even some of my friends who just see 1-2 bad reviews and never visit the place by their own ,thinking its a holy phrase or what which can't be wrong.. Any how I have different views on trframing shop as i physically visited this place twice during my stay in Virginia and to be frank with you ,in start when I visited them dated : Jun,2013 they have few variety of frames but customer services is too good but on my second visit dated: Sep,2013 ,I really was amazed to see how quickly they change their setup and added bunch of quality picture framing and other framing stuff. I just place an order for one of my 3d trophy , I was still bit nervous also because I was getting their service for the first time ,even though i have seen their setup but at the end of the day I was really amazed because I not only get the quality which i was expecting but I get my trophy framed within 2 days in 3d box framing and deliver to my premises in best secure packing. Just need to re-frame my picture after I saw all the positive reviews about tr framing. Once I arrived, I spoke with one of the Sale Rep there and explained that I wanted to change the frame I had on a picture. Sale girl just showed me a nice variety of frames that would highlight the picture better than the existing frame. Even though I know nothing about frames, she was amazing at showing me different kinds and explaining why each one would look good. When I asked for a recommendation and told her my budget, she happily showed me some options that were even less than I wanted to spend. The important thing was that the picture looked good, no matter the price of the frame. At the end when i decided the style ,she gave me few days to wait , I said ok because I was not that hurry but guest what I get a call from that store after 3 days and as i visit them I was shown the finished product and it was really perfect ,exactly what i was expecting.. Before leaving for our vacation, I dropped off a poster to be framed. I was surprised to get a call while out of town saying it was ready for pick up. Got back Saturday, to late, Had brunch and rest on Sunday. Today I went to pick up my framed poster! It looks so great! I can't wait to get it hung! The customer service was outstanding. The owner went out of his way to make sure he knew exactly what I was asking for, as I went in circles trying to explain. ( excitement of having it framed). The time frame was unexpected, pleasant surprise! I will post a picture of my art as soon as I can, but the exceptional professional work they did on this is outstanding. I had asked for the special "museum" glass that would keep it from fading as there are not a lot of these in circulation. Due to the size It was suggested that I consider the acrylic version of the glass same protection by less likely to break. I couldn't tell the difference. Happy I trusted the professionals about the glass. I'm very thankful to have found this shop! read more

Unlike many of the reviews here, I had a great experience at the St. Asaph location of TR Framing. My mother in law gave me a Living Social coupon for $200 worth of framing. After walking in with a large photograph taken by a friend, I stated that I wasn't good at picking out this kind of stuff and was open to suggestions for what type of frame would be best. The gentleman there was very nice and spent at least 30 mins with me going over the different types of frames/mattes that would look good with my picture. After settling on a nice frame and double matting (which the salesman suggested) I was charged $90 after the coupon which I think is reasonable for custom framing. If you want something to look nice you can't expect it to be cheap. The customer service there was excellent and I look forward to picking up my photograph in about a week. read more

We used a Groupon for two prints and have yet to pick them up, hence only three stars. We will post an update once we see the product, however, based on a job they did for us previously, I'm certain that we'll be happy with their service. Edit: Just picked up the prints and they look wonderful! Bumped to five stars; will return if we need something framed again. The staff was friendly and helpful in picking out matting and frame styles for our prints. Other reviews mention the price. I'm not en expert (else I'd do it myself!) but I feel that you get what you pay for. If you want your art to remain presentable then I think you'll pay for the opportunity - else you'll go to a crafts store where you get what you pay for. I cannot say enough positive things about TR framing. I collect a wide variety of concert and popular art prints, and I can say several things about the framing at TR. First of all, the finished product is always immaculate - I'm pretty sure they only use archival quality acid-free backing and UV-glass protection to make sure your prints or art stays perfect. What sets apart TR framing is their ability to pick an amazing frame and matte combo (particularly Victor I think, he's the shop owner and is almost always there, he's great with setting up a layout for your frame) and implement it in a way that turns a good print into a great piece to put on your wall. Terrific service at terrific prices ,specially their coupon scheme is very great . when first time I just Walked into the store, it looked like any other framing store, I thought,they too have expensive prices and moderate service but I was wrong they have great service and very helpful staff. On my second visit I got more confident as i have experienced them regarding their service and prices plus i have their discount coupon as well ,and it cost me just $60 for my poster to get framed ,I just order few more pictures to get frame and was really happy with their work and price Range. I have been taking my framing to TR for over 10 years. I started small with my law degree, and moved up to museum and festival posters. I then entrusted TR with signed prints from major artists, and finally oil paintings from Cuba and El Salvador. I have the entrance hall to my co-op all framed by TR, and will upload fotos later. have found the prices to be fair and reasonable. Victor and his staff have always taken their time, and their help has enhanced my artwork and collection considerably. I have priced framing at other stores, and the pricing has been considerably higher. Having a good time decorating our new home. The help of the clerk in the store I was able to find the perfect frame for our wedding photos and family memories from India. I have more to frame. I was the only one in the store for most of the time there, during which l had both clerks helping me find the frame that matched another picture I had brought in with me. Although the frame I brought in was from home, we were able to match it from all the selections the shop had. I will be looking for these deals I see people posting because I have several photos I would like good quality work and preserving to be done. I came to TR Framing on a recommendation from another artist in Made in ALX. I was totally new to them and I couldn't believe how well they took care of me. I gave them a really tight turn around time for an exhibit (right in the middle of the holidays!) and not only were they able to have something ready for me that was beautiful, but they also offer great deals for artists like me! The level of service and quality is something I would have expected as a repeat customer, but I got it the first time I walked in the door. I met with a few people who were all great, but Victor, the owner, really took care of me and made me feel welcome during my pick up, even as a new artist in the area. I just gave my family portrait to them but the frame design was my own ,as i hire one designer to design a new and unique frame for me in electronic format so that i can show this to my vendor in order to have the same look to be used for my photo. I am really happy that they did a good job by giving me the same look which I just show them in digital format .No doubt they have good machinery for cutting and modeling and good team. But as long as I get what i need,I am happy :).. May be there are some other shops in your town also but I just visit only 2 stores because of timing and luckily found this service more reliable, i better visit them again for my custom frame designs. read more

I have been getting paintings framed at the "Art&Framing Alexandria for the past 5 years. Each time I picked up my newly framed painting I was thrilled with the appearance and the quality of the work. I have been assisted by many excellent knowledgeable staff. I first started using this company because of the great value, professional customer service and the best coupon deals. Because I have been so happy with their work I have not compared prices to other framers - I just take it on faith that I still get great value. Anyways, their prices are fair. Highly recommended. Ordered 3 custom projects and a glass replacement. Customer service was top notch from the moment I walked in. They helped me with every decision for my unique projects and gave me lots of options to save cost along the way too. Plus their variety of frame and mat materials is outstanding. The projects took about 2 weeks. Ordering custom frames is expensive in general, but they have a very generous military discount. Their prices were lower than most frame shops I have commissioned in other places I have lived. There's no doubt these frames are high quality and are well with the investment. I've had several expensive prints (from the Old Print Gallery in Georgetown) framed here, as well as a pencil sketch that my 12-year old son drew. I used two groupons with no problems whatsoever. The frames came out beautifully and they were all completed in a timely fashion. The service people were very friendly and took their time to help me select frames and mats. I was shocked to read about other people's experiences, as I am very particular about my framing/art work and have been nothing but pleased every time I've come here. I have had several things framed, professionally. I went in with 4 rare posters that are oversized, and have value to them. The customer service was great. I explained that I needed to have them preserved, and as affordable as possible. I chose a frame that made getting all 4 out of my price range, The gentleman helping me, took the time to find a frame that was in price range. Therefore, I could get all 4 framed. I was able to get all 4 oversize pieces framed. The quality of the work was excellent. Customer service was great. I did not have a living social deal. read more
