First time in Amsterdam and staying at Park Plaza Vondelpark, which hosts the Italian restaurant Tozi. We ended up at the restaurant celebrating our 29th wedding anniversary because we were too tired from jet lag to go and explore further away. What luck for us! The food was amazing! We had the focaccia, zucchini fritters, the ricotta ravioli with shaved truffles, salmoriglio swordfish, regular green salad, and the charred romaine + Parmesan, and I managed to have two glasses of the delicious Nebbiolo Langhe, which melts in your mouth! My favorite dish was the ravioli. Do not skimp; get the large size! It is worth every euro. The swordfish was light and refreshing, and while I have made fish salmoriglio-style before, the sauce was always overpowering. This was perfect, and something I can try to achieve now that I know how it should taste. I'd have everything again, including the zucchini fritters (think perfect French fries, but with zucchini), but the side salad with the cheese--over done and mushy, but the regular green salad was bright, colorful, crispy and a perfect balance of salt and balsamic vinegar. Buon appetito! read more
