I had a bad service experience with them before. But I gave the the second chance. I booked an appointment online for AC, and when I got there, they told me the person you booked appointment with is at lunch. I said I didn't choose anyone. Anyway, after 5 minutes waiting, they assigned me to someone. I told them I know what the AC problem is and I tested it, I want you to fix it.. they didn't accept and said we will charge you $180 for finding the problem ourselves. I took the car to an AC shop closed to them and fix the problem with $30. I don't recommend them to anyone at all. read more

This was the place where I purchased my Toyota Tacoma. I decided to go to this place because of the brand I had heard nothing but good things about this product and decided I would be purchasing a vehicle from this location. I had gone into this place already with the idea of purchasing a truck so I knew what I wanted. The staff was very helpful and were doing their job very well by presenting the vehicles in a very professional way. The representative that was assisting me also was very helpful by giving me advice based on my situation. I think the only bad part about my experience was that their finance department had very bad rates when it came to the interest and I feel that they were very pushy when it came to trying to close the deal even though the rate that was given to me was not to my benefit. But this situation was not their fault it simply is how the system works and now that I have more knowledge I would have done more shopping around when it came to the financing aspect of the deal. I recommend this place because of its good staff and the great product they have to offer my only recommendation to buyers would be to look into other financing options before going into the dealership. read more

A parking attendant directed me in and when I asked for Javier Melendez, Javier came quickly with ready paperwork on a clipboard. Since we had already called Javier, he was knowledgable about what was needed. We always ask for Javier because he always gives clear definitions of service that will be given. When we pick up the car, he always goes over our bill carefully and shows us models of tires or injection systems if we need to have a graphic to understand how cars work. Had an oil changed and front brake pad service here on Nov 26, 2019. So now, it's time to change my oil but can't open the oil cap using my oil cap metal wrench and different tools I tried. Whoever the Tech who did the oil change it was OVER TIGTHENED the oil filter housing causing the tabs to snap. Stores are close, can't buy a new filter housing, need to purchase a power tool wrench to try to use it to remove the oil cap! Can't close my garage, will be open overnight because of this OVER 18 ft lbs tight! You guys owe me an oil filter housing! read more

Salesman named Ranlie is very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately my first experience with the service department wasn't. I called and made an appointment for an alignment for my newly-acquired used 2015 Highlander since it wasn't steering straight. The lady on the phone was nice, and I reassured her I needed the appointment in order to get the alignment done while I wait. She confirmed the work would be done while I waited and shouldn't take too long to do. I showed up for my appointment and Alex, who was not very personable, was assigned as my service writer. I advised him I had an appointment and would be waiting for the car. After 90 minutes and no word from Alex, I asked about it and he determined the car hadn't been seen yet. I told him I have to be at work in 30 minutes and I need the car done. He promptly got on the phone and had the tech take the car back. After fifteen minutes he said the car doesn't need an alignment and the problem is with one of the tires, a "radial pull". I then asked if they rotated the tires to confirm the diagnosis and he said no, and offered no other explanation or avenue to rectify the problem. I was late for work so I grabbed my keys and left. Later that day I had my tires rotated at Pep Boys and sure enough it didn't solve the issue. Knowing the alignment was the culprit I took the car to D&D Wheel Alignment in McAllen and they confirmed it was quite misaligned. The tires are fine. D&D properly aligned the car in 40 mins while I waited, and they were very friendly to deal with. I posted the spec sheet in the photos above. Toyota of Pharr Service Dept failed miserably with this new customer. D&D, you win! read more

I have noticed a distinct difference between "Toyota of Pharr" and Frank Smith Toyota. When I bought my truck there (while it was still Frank Smith), I could say nothing but positive things - an incredible buying experience. After my last service appointment well...not so much. I scheduled my service appointment over a week in advance (almost due to necessity because they were booked at all other convenient times). It was a basic 20K mile service. I arrived on the dot for the scheduled appointment. First, when I explained that I needed a 20K service when I made the appointment (I had to do this over the phone - their website wouldn't allow me to schedule on ANY given Saturday at the time - this may have been fixed now, but then it wouldn't work) the receptionist simply put me down for an oil change. When I arrived, the person greeting me did ask if I wanted the tires rotated which, after 5,000 miles of driving, of course I did. Next I was informed that it would be approximately 90 minutes. I felt this was rather long - especially since I had made an appointment. It's not like I was walking in. I shrugged and thought "oh well" and waited there for the service to be completed. 90 minutes would still allow me enough time to get on with my day. After TWO HOURS I began to get agitated. I needed to be at an appointment. At this point I missed it. After two hours and twenty minutes, I walked over to the service advisor's desk and saw my keys sitting there! I simply said, "All set?" He gave me my paperwork, didn't go over the service performed, and then informed me this was my last included scheduled maintenance service and walked me to the cashier. Upon inspection of the form where the work was done, I noticed it was different from a previous multi-point inspection form. Magically, my air filter seemed to improve all on its own (previously marked in the yellow section, now it was green). I had heard from others never to get maintenance included - they put "paying customers" ahead of those with included plans. Perhaps this is true. Perhaps not. The thing is...I DID pay for this - on the front end. I feel a two hour and twenty minute wait for a simple oil change, multi-point inspection, and tire rotation was too long - especially when I had an appointment. On a brighter note, the fact that they washed it was a nice touch; however, due to the fact that I was running so late, I would have happily washed it myself. read more

We do not normally comment on these surveys but Mr. Salinas was an exceptional salesman. He was very polite, professional, and helpful without being pushy which was a welcomed surprise. Honestly, we did not think we would be able to purchase anything, but with Mr. Salinas's help, we were able to find a very nice pre-owned car that we like. I appreciate that they are always busy and that's a good thing because that means they're doing something right and consistently so. How unfortunate that out of the thousands of customers only the ones that are disgruntled for petty stuff are the ones that actually rate them with low marks. I have purchased 3 vehicles from this dealer (2014 Tundra, 2016 4-Runner, and 2016 Sequoia). Most, if not all my issues derive around the service department. Seeing that Toyota is offering 2 years of schedule maintenance with purchase, it made sense to me to utilize their service. The first issue i had was when the Tundra was due for its first oil change. The appointment was actually scheduled well ahead of time by my salesmen. I took the Tundra in when the day came around and had all intentions of waiting for my truck while the oil change was being done. When i advised them that i would be waiting for the vehicle, they told me the work would take between 3 and 4 hours. When asked why the oil change was so long, their response was that they book 8 appointments an hour plus have to work on walk-ins. I'm not sure how any walk-in should affect my appointment, but i ended up leaving and dropping it off that weekend so my wife could actually pick me up (since I'm outside of the courtesy shuttle area). As far as the oil change actually went, everything seemed fine with the exception being the 4 hour turnaround for a scheduled oil change. This is the same issue every time i took the truck in for scheduled maintenance and basically had to pick days when i had a ride back home. A few months back, i had noticed the truck was starting to shimmy a little. A quick visual inspection showed that the tires may have been wearing a little uneven, so i decided to take it to Discount Tire, since i was closer so that they could take a quick look before it was taken in for its next scheduled maintenance, which was a week or two later. When Discount Tire took a look, and gauged the tires, 3 out of the 4 tires had worn so badly, that they wouldn't even balance the tires or align the truck. They recommended 4 new tires and an alignment to fix the issue. Thinking that Discount may just be trying to sell me something, i took the truck to D&D wheels (off a friends recommendation). Sure enough, they had the same conclusion and stated the wheels were all bad due to a bad alignment. I also asked at both places, if the tires could have gotten that bad since the last oil change (which had been done at Toyota and supposedly the tires were completely even). At both establishments, they agreed that even with the bad alignment, there was no possible way that the tires could have worn that badly uneven. Given that the two tire and alignment specialist agreed that this was something that A) Should have been noticed and B) Didn't happen in between service; i decided to take it over to Toyota, explain what was happening and what the two other shops has told me, and give them a chance to resolve the issue. Once at Toyota, i was spoke with a few service writers about the issue, which they appeared to be dumb-founded that this had happened. One finally came outside to the truck and measured the wear with a tire gauge. He agreed, yeah, those tires are wearing pretty badly uneven. Then he passed me over to another service-writer who "owns a Tundra,' as well, so he can speak more intelligently on it. We talked for a few minutes, and i agreed to leave it so the technicians could look at it to verify there wasn't anything major mechanically wrong with the truck. A few hours later, i received a call back, stating that it was in fact, a bad alignment and they too were recommending a new set of tires and an alignment and proceeded to ask me what i wanted to do. I told them, i want you (Toyota) to take care of it. I have all my maintenance records of the vehicle being serviced from the dealership and paperwork stating that this truck has always had even tread wear and no issues. I also have two independent shops stating that the level of wear that the tires had, would not happen in the amount of time since the truck was last worked on. I was then told, he would have to speak to the service manager and see what he wanted to do with the issue. A little while later, i was contacted by a gentlemen claiming to be the service manager. He said he had been told a little about the issues, we talked a little more about it and i basically told him again everything that had happened. He apologized for everything and said he would leave the decision on what they were going to do in the service writers hands. About another hour later, i received a call from the service-writer, stating that he had spoke to the manage after he contacted me, and asked me what i wanted to do. I asked, what exactly they were willing to do for the truck. He told me, that they were not accepting any responsibility for the issue at hand, and stated that the uneven wear could happen in as little as 500 miles (which, in 2 other shops opinions, would not be the case). He told me that they could sell me, 4 new tires and get the alignment down in a few days and that they could discount the alignment by $30, no discount on the tires. I ended up going to D&D again and had the work done. read more

We purchased our 2018 Toyota Rav4 earlier this month, Mr. Valdez patiently showed us a variety of vehicles that would accomodate our budget. Unlike other salespeople who just sell and then forget your name after you sign the contract... no not Mr. Valdez he made a follow up call a few days later to make sure we were enjoying our new purchase...WOW! They were really friendly, honest, and willing to stay about an hour after close, to be able to finish up our paperwork. This is car dealership hell. First off, if you're unfortunate to drop your vehicle off and wait for service be prepared to sit alongside at least 30 other miserable souls waiting for their vehicles. The service waiting area is common with the dealership showroom. Second, everywhere you look, there are way too many employees sitting or standing around doing nothing but shooting the breeze with each other. Parts. Front end "management." Service advisors. Salesmen bs'ing around with golf carts. Don't have any customers, how about you clean up the trash strewn about the front area? Where is the leadership, the pride, the professionalism? I waited three hours for a recall fix to be completed for them to tell me it was the incorrect part they had in stock and couldn't complete the fix. "We will call you in as soon as it arrives" which was weeks ago. Needless to say, I will never give my business to Toyota of Pharr/Frank Smith ever again, even if it's a free service. Went in this morning to have my vehicle serviced and needed a shuttle ride home. Waited for quite a while, I asked the lady behind the desk where the sign in sheet is for the shuttle, "how much longer?" And she was not very nice, told me to sign in and that the driver would call me and for me to Waite in the lobby area. Barely mad any eye contact with me and brushed me off. It's sad that a person like that is in the front line representing Toyota. Management, please look into this it was barely 9:30 am and the lady (long hair with glasses), was already very bothered.
