Mr. Mike Jenkins is a dedicated and accomplished auto mechanic in Houston. His knowledge of car functioning and construction is outstanding. He works alone in his shop and his attention to detail is exemplary. Since he is a one-man show, he sometimes is a little behind schedule. At times there are small instances of invoicing not being in full agreement with the work done. But these are small items and could be because he does everything, including paperwork, alone. My first experience with Mike could not have gone smoother. Within minutes I could tell I was speaking with someone who was being honest with me and extremely knowledgeable. Mike @ Toyotas Limited is about as good as it gets if you're not in a big hurry and don't have a big budget. Everything he does he does well--and that runs the gamit from a $40 oil change to a $5000 complete engine rebuild. There just about nothing he can't do as good or better than a dealership--for less--but he's a one man show with a long local history and a loyal following--so he always has steady work and thus, as mentioned above, can sometimes take a while to get to your vehicle. For me that's never been an issue since I have more than one truck; I just leave one with him whenever I need service or maintenance and when it's ready it ready--and I know (a) the problem(s) will be resolved and (b) there won't be any sticker shock or surprises. Mike is a great communicator. Once he has definitively identified the problem he will always call and review the situation with you, give you options, give you advice, etc--letting you make the best decision before the meter starts running. If the problem is pretty expensive but there's a safe and affordable work around--he's open to that--which dealerships never are. I have a 2001 and a 2003 vehicle and they both still run like a top--partly thanks to Japanese engineering and quality--and partly due to Mike @ Toyotas Limited. In fact, sometimes I joke about how I'll never be able to buy a new truck because these will never die. :) They're beat up, they have high miles--but they run tops and purr like kittens. Mike is one of those rare guys you don't meet often anymore who really love what they do and have spent a lifetime perfecting their craft. Personally, if I could rebuild a late model Toyota Sequoia engine as good or better than a dealership can--for less--I probably wouldn't do $40 oil changes... because there's really no money in those. But Mike doesn't think that way. He's a neighborhood mechanic. He'll do whatever your car needs to keep it running and safe. He's even done minor paint and body work for me now and then--and he's even good at that. I can't remember how I found Mike originally. I think I just did a Google search for something like "Toyota repair Houston" and called a few places and ended up at his shop. That's another funny thing about Mike... he doesn't really advertise, has no web presence, doesn't even have a sign up at his shop. I think when it's slow he's probably happy to take a day or two off and go down to the coast and go fishing. :) read more

I have 2 Toyotas with a combined 420K miles and I do most of the routine maintenance myself. For the things I'm not able to do, I am very thankful that I have Mike to go to because he is always kind, helpful, and honest. There isn't much he hasn't seen so he can accurately figure out what the problem is. Mike was really great to deal. Diagnosed a shimmy in my RX350 as a tire issue, explained what probably caused the issue and sent me off to the tire shop with recommendations on what needed to be done and what not to get upsold on (thanks!).
