Like other reviewers here, I too felt watched while I was in the store. We were watched non-stop by a woman. I finally found a Go game and asked if the pieces were glass. The owner told me yes and then gave me this whole story on how it was priced over $100 before Christmas and he has been bringing down the price to this super good price of $59.99. Further promoting the story that the pieces are glass and the game has a higher value. I bought it and when I got home I discovered the pieces are not glass. One of them even had some excess plastic on it from the mould that I had to break off and sand. I looked up this company and the suggested retail is $49.00. I understand small business usually charge more, and I would have been more than happy to support a local merchant by paying a little more. According to other reviews for this store they have a sign indicating no phones, even if this is true I saw absolutely none while I was in this store. For some background information: I just moved into my first proper apartment and was looking to maybe buy a plush to put on my bed. I also had been texting my friend throughout the past few hours since she had been having a bad day and wanted to see what I was up to, therefore after looking through the plush options I went to send a picture to my friend and maybe ask her opinion on what to get, when a woman (I assume one of the owners) came up behind me and snapped that I was not allowed to take pictures (in a toy store?? What am I going to do with a picture???) and when I apologized and went to put my phone away a man (possibly the other owner?) appeared and told me to delete it in an honestly very threatening tone, I told him my phone hadn't saved the picture since it was taken in a messaging app but not sent (true), apologized again, and left. I didn't appreciate how I was treated but more honestly I'm worried of how an excited child, possibly with access to a phone (as is pretty common nowadays), may be treated. My rating is mixed. I love the products at Toy Terminal, It's the atmosphere and shopping experience that staff have poorly curated that make you feel uncomfortable. It completely dampened my experience. After having spent some time at a couple of stores in the neighbourhood, I saw this store and had to go in. I love plushies, so it was natural for me to enter this store. I walked in. There were two staff members: an older Caucasian male and an older Chinese female. They both stared at me like hawks as I looked at the cute plushies. I settled for a strawberry plushie that sat perfectly in the palm of my hand. It brought me great joy. The man approached me and asked if I needed any help. I said that I was good -- that I had found what I wanted. I thanked him for offering to help and I continued to browse. He left me alone. One hawk down. One more to go. The woman did not leave me alone. She continued to circle me as if I were prey. Practically every aisle that I was in, she was there. At one point, we looked directly at each other in an aisle. We had this exchange: Her: Did you need any help? Me: Nope, I have what I want. Did you want to pass by? Her: (she moves past me) Me: Thanks. She was blocking my path browsing. If you are going to make me and every customer uncomfortable browsing in your store, I have no problem dishing it back at you politely. Walk away. I will not make you make me feel like a criminal for being a customer who likes to browse and is about to buy a plushie from your store. She stopped circling me after this exchange. I shouldn't have to politely tell you to stop being a jerk. You should know better as an adult. There are a couple of signs that say to not take photos. I didn't care. I took some. I didn't get a talking to about that, which I think was wise for them to not do that to a paying customer or one that was about to make a purchase. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and the transaction went through successfully. I placed my plushie in my paper bag. I thanked the man and left the store. I love my plushie. It's adorable and perfect. When you see this store please walk away!!!!!! NEVER STEP INSIDE!!!!!! They are excellent at protecting their products, no people are welcome!!!! They don't love kids, they don't love toys, they don't love people!!!!!!!! I felt untrusted and constantly watched. It was impossible to browse comfortably, I barely lasted 3 minutes before leaving. Decent selection of games and toys. HOWEVER, this is not a place i would give business to out of principle. Owner is super rude. The one star reviews are accurate and mirrored my experience. I can understand not using my phone in a medical office, but this is a store selling toys and board games. He also didnt need to shout or give a stink eye when i pulled my phone out simply to look at the game reviews and competitor pricing. Place the signage where it is easily visible and eye levek, not literally on the very top where there isn't much reason to look at. I can only guess that this is because their stuff is overpriced by comparator sellers. The one i looked at was $25 in store and was selling for $16 online. This is the WORST store I've ever reviewed. The customer service is RUDE! I've never given a 1-star rating before but here it is! My son wanted to go in a look at toys so we went in. They had a radio station playing in the store. My wife spoke to the owner saying that the radio is talking about murders and rape (including about Harvey Weinstein) and it isn't appropriate for children in a toy store. The owner (an older Chinese lady) said that is news and the classical radio station broadcasts news every hour. Every hour (yes it was 2:02pm at the time) the radio station broadcasts news. My wife reiterated that particular news is not appropriate for children. Then the owner said in a very condescending tone, "Where are you from?" My wife said Toronto. She said "Do you ever listen to news?". My wife said "Yes". She said "Well this is news!" I overheard the whole conversationfrom 10 feet away. My wife gave up. The owner has no empathy for children considering she is an owner and is currently walking around and managing the store. You would think she would be sensitive to such issues! She could have at least empathized with us and apologized for the news content, assuming she didn't want to change the radio station. I could conclude that the choice of radio station (classical music + news) is for the benefit of her and not her customers. We promptly left without buying anything. After I wrote my review, I was curious so I went through other reviews on Google. Out of 213 reviews, 50% gave 5 stars and 40% gave 1 star! I've never seen 40% 1 star! So I don't feel bad about my rating at all! We've actually been to "Toy Terminal" at Richmond and Bathurst but the staff was nice. We bought an expensive toy there. Looks like that one is closed. This location opened about 5 months ago. Too bad they have new very rude owners. The store has a good variety of toys but more expensive that expected. I was profiled right away by an Asian lady. I looked at her, she looked at me, she said nothing - awkward. I wasn't sure if she even worked there at this point. There were a lot of people in there, but she followed me around, I ignored her at first, giving the benefit of the doubt. As I was crouching to check out toys on a bottom rack, she *literally* stood over me, to the side. I looked at her and I was the first to greet her, "Hi, how are you?" I said pleasantly. She answered and continued to stand over me, watching. Count to ten, Dan, count to ten - Zen yourself. I was intending to spend hundreds of dollars, if not thousands, for 16 kids (not all my money). I was so put off by this woman's behaviour I just bought 3 small items for a stocking stuffer. I get that there are shoplifters out there, but she should not make it so obvious that she's glued to you and not even a greeting - Just hovering over your shoulder. Needless to say, being judged liked this based on your physical appearance is not a pleasant feeling. And I was even wearing my ensemble that got a lot of compliments at work! Get cameras or take a YouTube class on TACT, lady. The one star is for the gentleman at the cashier. I ended up going to Game & Hobby Zone, Treasure Island Toys Ltd, Mastermind Toys, and Walmart. The traveling was worth it if it meant not putting money in ol' Helicopter Leech's pockets. Prices seemed higher here as well. I ended up spending $2168.45 at Treasure Island Toys Ltd and Mastermind Toys - Two stores with similar stock as Terminal and I have 2 more kids to gift for. If you want to support local shops, there's plenty of others in Toronto - Go there. read more

We've followed this store for over 25 years and purchased a number of toys for our niece and nephew throughout the years. They've moved around downtown Toronto a few times but each location is convenient to get to. Owners are friendly and helpful and they have a variety of toy selections that other toy stores don't carry. We recently visited their store at Queen Street and managed to buy a couple of puzzles from Germany for our now adult niece since we know she will love and appreciate it. Poor customer service. Went in with 4 happy kids but was met with terrible attitude not 3 steps into the store. We asked for more info about toy piano in window display, fully ready to make purchase for child's Birthday. Her response was just like seething anger barely wanted to give me a proper answer. Yelled at me to go to the very back of store to take a look myself with my stroller. At this point I'm wondering do I really want to hand over $150+ to this person after being treated this way? Do not shop here. My girlfriend purchased a stuffed bee here(which was insanely overpriced at $80), and needed to return it. It still had tags on, was not touched at all other than during the purchase, and had zero hints of any type of damage. We were told there was absolutely no return or exchange for store credit because he "Didn't know where it had been or who had touched it". I explained it had been purchased 2 days before and had not been removed from the bag it was in, and was bluntly told there was nothing he could do. Given the situation, and the fact that he remembered the purchase so he knew it was recent, a store credit would have been entirely reasonable, but also a small stuffed animal should never cost $80. The lady followed me around the store and then asked me to get off my phone and was super rude and aggressive. I would avoid this place at all costs. I can only say this store has the best selection of traditional toys, (no PlayStations or electronic stuff) that I've seen in Toronto. Clearly the owners carefully select only the best toys to sell. Every time I've bought something here for my niece and nephews they've been extremely happy. I'm sorry to read other reviews where bad encounters with the owners took place. I had a very different experience. The owner was kind and very interested in answering my questions. I should point out that I'm a guy who could easily be profiled as one likely to steal. I certainly don't look like I frequent toy stores. It saddens me to read that people left upset. I wish there were more stores like this because it brought me back to my childhood! read more

Almost get psychically harassed by the owner. I didn't see the sign saying no phones so i wanted to take a picture of a toy I'm considering getting as gift for my cousin. The owner yelled at me with a big attitude and when i try to ask him the reason for this l rule and explain I'm just taking a photo, he yelled "get out" at me. And approached me to trying to grab me and push me out. I backed away and left the store. People especially girls absolutely shouldn't go there, it's not safe and I'm mad curious why this store still exists. I won't be surprised if customers had actually got assaulted here and people call the cops on the owner. Today I entered this store, myself being 9 months pregnant and accompanied by my friend who was shopping for his partners friends sons birthday. This was on our lunch break. The man running the store proceeded to yell at us and following us around the store because my friend went on his phone to email his work who has messaged him. This man literally thought he had the right to police us from touching our phones?! He said we had no right to be on the phone in his store. He was rude and blocking my way when I proceeded to tell him good luck running a business with such a strange and aggressive attitude towards customers. It was honestly the most uncomfortable exchange I've encountered in a long time. At least it stressed me out to the point of contractions. That's one way to kick start labor. read more

Very unique shop!! Beautifully presented and neat. It sells the best toy brand on the market with all the newest releases. The owner has been very polite and friendly with my children. It's a pearl in the heart of the city center. Prices are good! Also, the classical music inside the shop makes the experience memorable. Sure I'm going to visit it again. read more
