    Affordable Screen & Patio Enclosures

    (5 reviews)

Our new screen enclosure is a haven! We are out there every day, with 3 cats, music, twinkly lights…read moreand nature all around (bundled in layers with temps now dipping into the 30s). Affordable Screen and Patio Enclosures made our wish come true, something we thought was out of reach. After meeting with several contractors--so many design options, techo-features, price tiers to choose from--we sat down out on our deck with Dave Maloney and knew Affordable was our choice. It wasn't because of price, folksy sales-speak, flashy literature, big promises. It was because our gut told us: integrity, commitment to quality. That was our introduction. With each subsequent interaction, whether it was Affordable's Jen on the phone answering our questions, in-person with Dave at the Kenosha showroom, emails and banter with installation crew led by Eric and Dan on-site, every exchange reinforced that these people know their stuff. Any job is going to have its peculiarities and ours was no exception. When a hiccup arose with code, Affordable quickly resolved the matter. When something unexpected arose with the deck foundation, a creative solution was deployed and work continued uninterrupted. There may have been other wrinkles along the way, things homeowners are blind to, but this team is proactive and delivered to us a living space that feeds our soul after a long day at work. The crew was professional, friendly, respectful of our property--and our neighbor's. I've already recommended Affordable Screen and Patio enclosures to two people and will continue to sing their praises. Integrity. Commitment to quality. Thank you, Dave, Jen and team!

I shopped around prior to finding Affordable Screens and Patios and the price cannot be beat. Jen was helpful dealing with my HOA approval and communication was great! The guys who came out to install were hard workers and went above and beyond what I expected. Great company I recommend! If your looking to have screens installed look no further.

He was accommodating with my schedule and showed up on time- actually early! We talked, he shared the history of the company (30 yrs in business, I remember correctly) and reviewed what we were hoping to replace- he showed me what Shading Solutions could do- measured, twice, and we were on our way. The date he told me to anticipate our awnings should be delivered and one week before, contacted me to say we are on schedule! The awnings were delivered and we set a date for installation. The day before, Kurt Lamothe, the installer, came to look at the awnings and to check out the job site, impressive! Not waiting for 'day of ' - being proactive shows professionalism ~ so appreciated in this day! The installers show up, again, professional and friendly and EARLY! Again, I was impressed because as they're installing, Joe, my sales guy, shows up just to make sure all is going well and that I was satisfied. He even texted me after to say there is a windy storm rolling in so make sure to roll up the awnings as they were just installed. The guys picked up all the wrappings and left not one piece behind. Oh- and the price was fair, no hard sell or upsell. Will post pics later ~ but we are VERY satisfied to find a company and people who are professional and are great at their jobs! Thanks Joe, Kurt, Kurt Jr and Cliff (?) I apologize if I got the name wrong!

At around 8:15am, I pulled up to my parents' house and no work was going on, but Daniel was there. He said he's going to have to leave this project for the next one due to the reason that he couldn't get the material for today. He said he could do it the following week, but needed a $1,000 down payment. I gave him a $1,000 deposit check, and he gave me a receipt. Wednesday, 10/30/24, at 10:26am: I called Daniel to check in about the driveway project, and that's when he informed me that he's too busy to do the job. I told him to just rip up the check. At 1:23pm: I texted Daniel, "I see you already cashed the $1,000 check. Please refund the money." Daniel texted, "yes of course tomorrow afternoon I will return them to you" I texted, "Thank you." Friday, 11/1/24, at 2:47pm: I texted Daniel, "Daniel, please refund the $1,000 I paid you for a deposit on my parents' driveway." "I need to pay a deposit to another contractor." I got no response. After a few more attempts to contact Daniel Villegas, he ghosted me and never refunded the $1,000. The registered address of this corporation is 1025 Shoreland Ct., Round Lake Beach, IL 60076. When she asked me when I was looking to do this job I told her probably not until early 2021, to which she responded "well we're not gonna talk to you right now because I have to focus on other clients who are doing their projects right now." I can actually respect the fact that she's focused on short-term clients, but it just seemed so off-putting that when I hung up I figured I would never hear from them again. Flash forward to February 2021, and to my surprise, Kristin leaves a voicemail on my phone. The voicemail was very polite, unobtrusive, and invited me to call her back if I wanted to engage her in conversation. And that she wouldn't be calling me again unless I wanted to speak with her. This intrigued me because I wanted to get a competing bid so I called her back a few days later. At first, she didn't recognize my name, but then pulls my name up on her computer and realized who I was. I told her we were looking to do a back porch and the first thing that came out of her mouth was a confrontational tone that said, "It says here you're looking to do a front deck" - as if her notes were gospel and I couldn't possibly be inquiring about something different. I politely responded that we were considering both (and that we had discussed that in our previous conversation) and decided to do the back porch first. She started asking around pricing saying that she could do a project from $5000 up into the six figures. When I told her I was thinking about somewhere between $15,000 and $20,000, she said "that will definitely be a wood deck." I asked her what that meant - was that good or bad and she responded as if I should have known that composite decks are better and costs more. How the hell am I supposed to know that? I've never done a deck project -- that's why I'm reaching out to you to get a quote on one. But instead of treating this as a way to build a relationship and potentially get to a sale, she basically made me feel like an idiot because I didn't know the difference between wood and composite decks. When I asked her about the process she informed me that it included sending her a photo of the back of our house, sitting down for a phone call to discuss what we're looking for, and if we chose to proceed then she would come out to our house to take measurements and do more in-person analysis. At that point, she insisted that we do the 45-minute conversation right then and there -- to which I responded well I need to get my wife and she's not free right now. For some reason, she just assumed that because I was calling, that I had all the time in the world to engage, and a 45 minute to an hour-long discussion was something I could just do anytime. I called her out on being rude and while she backpedaled for a moment, she resumed her defensiveness. I was hoping maybe I caught her on a bad day but seeing as other customers here have had similar experiences, it doesn't sound like an exception.
