If I could give this hotel "0" stars I would. I regularly book with Marriott hotels and have seen less than great service before-- but this experience is by far one of the worst customer service and hotel experiences I have had. I booked several months in advance for what I thought would be 4 rooms for a 4 night stay. Two weeks before my trip, I ended up shortening my trip to a 4 rooms for a 3 night stay. Originally, my rooms were $139/night with AAA rates. I talked to someone on the phone from their front desk to adjust the length of my stay, and I thought I was set to go for my trip... I was sorely mistaken.
I had requested when I originally booked that I have two adjoining rooms. I know those are never guaranteed, so I spoke to the front desk about it when I shortened my trip length. I had my kids staying with me and hoped to get an adjoining room with them. They told me on the phone, they couldn't guarantee it, but they would "try and have two rooms next to each other". When I arrived, not only were the rooms NOT next to each other-- they were on separate floors. And, when I inquired about the room next to me, which was empty/open/available for the 3 nights I was there, they told me they couldn't accommodate my request. No one even tried to help so I could be close to my children.
Then, when I checked out at the end of this stay, my rooms were over $189/night. I tried to talk to someone at the front desk, but they were the "lowest" on the chain of command, and couldn't do anything to help me. I totally understood this situation and thought I would get in touch with the manager, whose number they gave me. When I got back home and tried to get in touch with the manager, Josh R., he was free exactly one time, and told me that he didn't know why the room rate changed and would do some investigation. He never called me back.
Four days later, I called again and asked to speak with Josh... his assistant responded and said he was in a meeting and would get back to me. He never did. I called again three days later and asked for Josh again, his assistant again told me he was in a meeting but had checked out my "claim". According to the assistant, because I had shortened my stay, my rate changed and the way I was "notified" was because the fine print when I originally booked my room said "Rates were subject to change" (and I'm talking about the finest of fine prints, among the ads at the bottom of the emails). I asked why I wasn't notified when I changed my stay, and she said that was the notification-- that I should have expected the rates to change because the fine print of the email said it was "possible" they could change.
I asked to leave a message for Josh, hoping maybe if he couldn't help me than his supervisor would-- he never got back in touch with me and the 2 more times I called asking for him, he was never "available".
I am sorely disappointed with my stay here. I understand that rates can change, even if I shorten my stay by a night-- but shouldn't the customer at least be notified of a rate change, especially if it's done over the phone?! I mean a $60/night difference for 4 rooms, over 3 nights, adds up and the management never even tried to help. Horrible customer service. This whole experience was incredibly underhanded and deceitful and I will NEVER stay there again. No one tried to "make the customer happy" or help in any way, and quite frankly, the services available and amenities are not worth the price I paid at all. And on top of that, to NOT be able to stay with my kids...? Well, now you know the reason for this review.
