Needed a new screen. Took it to Lowe's and they instantly said "True Value." So, off I went. In True Value I found a large sign saying "Screens" in the back. A friendly gentleman told me the frame was fine and he could change out the screening in 10-30 minutes. He did it in 10, and it was perfect. So just wanted to put in a 5 star review and say thanks. Went to return sealant for $13.99 that was completely dry & unusable. But it was bought over 30 days ago. At first they told me I could exchange it and then changed their mind after seeing it was purchased over 30 days ago. We could not find the receipt after we opened it & tried to use it. We had taken True Values sealant back to LA the same day we bought it & disappointed it was unusable. So we purchased a different sealant at Home Depot in Burbank that worked perfectly. True Value's sealant was manufactured over 6 years ago. My husband tried an electric caulking gun & two manual caulking guns but the tube was dry. Very disappointed they would not let me exchange this unusable sealant. I will sadly never shop here again. I didn't know they could easily pull up our receipt without having our original receipt. Very unhappy with their customer service. read more

Came to the store with a under sink filter and above sink faucet. 2 employees (Sorry don't know their names) spent a lot of time figuring out the hoses and connectors I needed. Such a great hardware store and staff. I came in expecting to try to find parts myself to cobble together a deadbolt I needed extensions for a very thick door. Cheri came over to ask if I needed help. Showed her what I had and she immeadiately took the lead and in minutes, I had the most perfect solution! She was incredible, knowledgeable and so good. Walk into Town Center True Value and you are quickly greeted by an associate who will ask you what you are looking for and walk you to the aisle with the product. They ask what you're working on, what you need and make suggestions about what might be useful. I've gotten help here several times and staff is always helpful and friendly. This is not a big box store, so selection is more limited than at the giants, but I usually find I can get what I need from a local hardware store, including some friendly advice. read more

After checking out options at Lowes and Home Depot, I met Cheri at True Value (Town Center) in Palm Desert! What a breath of "professional" fresh air. She was so knowledgeable and helpful that's where I ended up buying our Weber bbq propane grill. Why True Value??? 1) the excellent service and knowledge provided by Cheri 2) the great selection of Weber grills 3) selection was fairly and competitively priced (with Lowes and Home Depot) but neither Lowes nor Home Depot had available salespeople who provided service, were available to answer questions, etc. 4) they offered free setup 5) they delivered on the promise of quick "white glove" delivery So if you're looking for a bbq grill, make sure you include Town Center True Value Hardware on your list of options. Service was offered the moment I walked in the door. I had an unusual lamp problem that a lamp expert could not resolve. The solution was to think outside the box and repair a favorite lamp. I stumbled upon TrueValue during a vacation to Palm Desert. Jake is always friendly and helpful, even when it's 14 minutes until closing on a Friday evening! He helped me find exactly what I needed and facilitated an exchange for something I bought a few weeks ago, but it didn't fit my door threshold (should have asked Jake!) Jake's colleague, on the register, was also wonderful, but I missed his first name. This is a great store with wonderful inventory, always clean and orderly displays for decent prices but they are even better.you can get them on sales which they have frequently. It is very hard to find good customer service, and it's more of a rarity, especially after the "Covid years." It's great to have people that actually come to work, that are qualified and dependable. When they like their job & care about the "customer" it's an even bigger bonus. The only disappointing part is they only stay open till 5 PM each night which makes it hard if you work for a living to get in before closing. I shopped at the True Value store previously on Varner Rd near Stater Bros in Palm Desert for years until that location closed and most of the employees moved over to the True Value store in Town Center in Palm Desert. ALL of these True Value store employees are the very best in helping to find the right item and providing information to help with solving whatever problem you are fixing. Recently, I was trying to ifnd 72 inch fluorescent bulb replacements and was unsuccessful at Lowes, Home Depot and Ace Hardware. However, when I went into True Value I got immediate help from one of the folks that used to work at the other location AND... they had exactly what I was looking for. The manager of this store provided help in responding to an email I had sent and ALL of the staff was tremendous. The experience is so much like walking into a hardware stroe decades ago. My 86 year old mom is in a near by health center and the air conditioning wasn't working. My 90 year old dad asked if I could pick her up a fan for her room. Not only did the incredible staff help me find the correct fan but they also assembled it so I could bring it right over. This kind of increase customer service is very hard to find these days. I had a screen replaced on my sliding door at Town Center True Value Hardware. Everyone I spoke with at the store from calling them to service desk were helpful and friendly. Jake the young man who replaced the screen, went several steps further fixing the latch and making sure the wheels worked and carried it to my car. I couldn't give enough praise to Cherie today. Her help was spot on. I had two different sized pieces (metric) that I needed to connect. I thought they were plumbing sized (3/8") but we figured out it was a 16M metric and 8M metric. She took control and knew exactly how to handle the situation with confidence and ease. This is why you go to True Value instead of Lowes and Home Depot. (SERVICE, SERVICE, SERVICE). We were in and out in 15 minutes, whereas if I had to figure it out I probably was going to take 45. TRUE VALUE IS NOT A VALUE! I have been in here on several occasions trying to pick up a quick item or two as they are conveniently located. Every time I go to buy something I look up the item at Home Depot and Amazon. The prices at the competition is 30%-40% less. I am ok with paying slightly above for convenience but not excessively over. They will not match pricing either. I'm finished even trying anymore. read more

I didn't wait more than 2 minutes for some VERY prompt and professional assistance from J.R. I was on a time crunch for assistance because I was only one hour away from hosting an AIRBNB property for guests from San Francisco. J.R immediately got to work and helped me loosen a piece that was stuck on the old component. He took the time to educate me on the component for future reference. I have visited True Value in Palm Desert. I go in all the time and experience the best local customer service. I pay more but who cares. I like the service. Well when it became bathroom time, I asked if I could use their bathroom. I was told that both bathrooms in the corner are for employees only. The nice employee I was talking to was clearly not the decision maker. Where is my local store? This is Palm Desert. I get gas station restrooms close all the time due to vandalism in bad areas. This is not the way Palm Desert is. With no other choice I went 2 doors down. Leaving my family at the store. Ten minutes later, As I walked back I let the cashier know how I was even more irritated. Home-depot and Lowes allow their customers to be comfortable. Ace is the New Place. I think managers need to address this now. read more

We love this small, local business so much better than a big box store! Every time we are in this True Value, we receive exceptional customer service and unmatched value. For example, we were recently looking for a specific Weber BBQ and the big box stores did not have it in stock. We reluctantly placed an order directly thru Weber, and had to wait longer than we wanted. The next day, we were in True Value and they had the very BBQ we were looking for, and said they could deliver it the same day. We quickly canceled the order with Weber and received delivery at home from True Value a few hours later, and we were cooking on it that night. This is the kind of service you get when you take the time to shop locally. Everyone in this store makes you feel valued - living up to their name! read more

Amazing store with amazing staff!!! I stick by saying this is the "Ritz-Carlton of hardware stores" after shopping here about 5 times in the last few months since moving to PD. Everyone here is super helpful and can assist in finding everything on your list. Because it is a reasonably sized store with close parking, and they are like a personal concierge for finding things, you can get in and out SO much faster than the big box places. Yesterday, when our power was out for 10 hours, my husband called about a generator and they were nice enough to give us the information about it over the phone and then hold it until we got there. The gentleman named J.R. even helped my husband put it in the trunk!!! He didn't know my husband is heat-sensitive and really has a tough time if he has to exert himself in hot weather. We were so grateful to him for that thoughtful and generous extra step in this heat. The cashier is always very nice too. We are thrilled to have this well-stocked resource close to home and will be in often. read more

Friendly customer service. Not so friendly customer prices and selection. If you are looking for something local with good customer service, then this place might be for you. If you are looking for the best value and larger product selection, then possibly this place is not for you. I was in the area and in immediate need of some rope for my truck bed, and the sales associate was very attentive to showing me "the ropes," but I paid a premium price for that rope. Home Depot has probably better prices and larger selections, but you run the risk of someone slamming their door open into your car; placing their shopping cart next to your car instead of walking it back to the cart return stall; dealing with sales associates who are all essentially giving you "the finger;" and then getting Covid on top of that. My previous rating on this store only gave them 3 stars, but after my visit yesterday I have to bump it up to a 5 star rating. 100% improvement in customer relations. I was greeted at door when I entered, and immediately a gentleman approached and asked if I needed any assistance in finding anything. So much better. The store is huge and it is filled completely with soo many hardware items. Almost anything for any project. I loved the display of patio furniture and barbecues. Finally! I will never drive allllll the way to Lowe's or Home Depot again! love this location! Shiny new HUGE store by Whole Foods and The Rack. It's very easy to get in and out of the corner and it has a ton of parking right in front. Trying to get in and out of Ace Hardware is anxiety inducing and forget finding a parking space. It's damn near impossible. as wel the store and the people that work there it's one of my favorite places to go especially during Covid Nina who runs the paint department is amazing at matching colors and the most patient person on the planet read more
