Our food was very good and cooked to order. Unfortunately, there were no more biscuits to try out because they had run out, but the food and service was very good. Our waitress seemed to be a little checked out during our visit but everyone has a bad day. We had to ask multiple times for drink refills because she would see us with an empty glass and not refill it. We tried multiple things that day and everything was really good. I know they're "famous" for their biscuits but I would say it was my least favorite thing I tried. Only because the biscuit was very average and it wasn't very warm. I will definitely be back again to try other things.

/5…read more Visited on a Sunday afternoon. There was a moderate line and about a 5-10 minute wait to reach the cashier and place our order. The inside dining space is small to moderately sized, overall clean and well-kept. The vibe of the area wasn't very diverse or culturally rich, if that matters to you. The staff was very nice and attentive, which added a welcoming feel. Considering they've only been open for a little over a month, they seem to be functioning smoothly for a new establishment. Menu selections were straightforward and basic -- nothing that stood out as a "must-try" signature dish. A nice touch: their cups feature small affirmations, which was a thoughtful detail. As a severe foodie, I could tell the food was fresh and made to order, but leaned more toward "prepared" rather than "crafted." For instance, the biscuits were confirmed to be from packaging and not homemade. That said, for the price point and the area, it's perfectly fine if you're not expecting anything culinary-forward. If you're a true foodie, don't come expecting a wow factor -- just expect a well-prepared, decent meal. Only con: service related to condiments. When we ordered, we proactively asked for jelly and honey butter to avoid additional trips, but were told to ask again when the food was brought out. When we did, the server forgot, and after waiting about 10 minutes, I had to go back to the cashier myself. Turns out, the jelly was just simple packets that could have easily been handed to us when we initially asked. A staff member did apologize for the oversight, and to be fair, they're still working out the kinks as a newer spot. Final Take: Grind and Rise is a clean, friendly place for a simple, prepared meal. It's a solid option for the area if you go in with realistic expectations. They're off to a good start but still have room for growth, especially when it comes to smoother service flow and elevating some of the food elements.

We also had very prompt service and were checked on several times throughout our stay. They serve breakfast all day, but we both chose options from the lunch menu, instead. They had a lot of regular customers. The servers knew most everyone's names. We both got the half sandwich and soup option. We both chose the cup of chicken noodle matza ball soup. The cup was packed with noodles, chicken pieces, and a matza ball. The broth was a tad salty, but I liked it anyway. For my half sandwich, I chose corned beef on rye. The sandwich was packed with corned beef -- the real deal. It was very good. Alongside the sandwich was a pickle spear and a small cup of potato salad. I could have chosen coleslaw instead. The potato salad was slightly sweet, but good. My husband chose liverwurst with added onion for his sandwich. It was a healthy portion and he said it was very good, as well. We both felt that this diner/luncheonette was a keeper. Good food at decent prices in a casual setting.

In hindsight, I assume they simply couldn't see us. We were in camo, after all. Eventually, employees started peeking around the corner at us like they'd spotted a rare species in its unnatural habitat. Once Summer lost the rock-paper-scissors contest on who had to serve us, she was great and the food was actually fantastic. And honestly, having every employee come out to deliver part of our food was a nice touch. Nothing says "welcome" quite like the entire staff taking turns coming to see the camo people in the segregated room. 10/10 food. 10/10 Summer. Questionable habitat management. Wellington may be used to people on horseback, but apparently six people in camo was a little too outdoorsy.

Enjoying a sunny day with our best friends from med school and residency who left the winters of PA behind to live in Florida. Celebrating life, family and friendship. Ordered a Mediterranean Skillet with skillet potatoes and a sunny side up egg. (You know I already looked at the quite extensive menu the night before.) My hubby ordered the same to match me. Our friends got a My Big Fat Greek Omelet and a Heathy Omelet with onions added. The skillet potatoes are more like a scalloped potato casserole. Milk, cream, cream cheese, scallions and shredded potatoes. So rich and creamy. The Mediterranean Skillet adds grilled red onions, mushrooms, peppers, Kalamata olives, sun-dried tomatoes and a generous sprinkle of goat cheese. Topped with two eggs, it is decadently delicious. Bread options included scones, toast or biscuits. Our table tried all of them. My scone was so delicious. I only ate half because my skillet was so delicious and so filling. My friend loved her biscuit and my hubby loved his scone. Sophia was great. She kept checking on us with a warm smile and refills of coffee. Lots of parking on a Sunday morning. A great breakfast for four. Very reasonable prices for fresh skillets and omelets. Hopefully we will be back on another visit to the Sunshine State.
