Decided to check out this escape room with my friend tonight - we do one every other week or so! We entered the room and although it looks outdated compared to most, the room looked fun. During the intro, the host gave us a very short backstory, and said that he "couldn't talk, cause I just drank some water." Unfortunately, one of the items wasn't working in the room as it should, so we were given the answer (no biggie). The host states "I'm not sure how to fix this, but this is what you should do for the answer." We continued the game, and asked for a hint later, but received hints beyond where we were, and were told "oh, that was the wrong hint, I was supposed to give you that later on." After that, along with the very interesting intro, we decided to leave in the midst of the game, and forfeited the money we spent. We've done several rooms throughout Raleigh, Durham, & even at the OBX! This really bummed us out, and unfortunately we likely won't return here. read more

I like escape rooms but when I'm somewhere new and visiting I usually like exploring local or something new but this escape room was honestly a highlight. Fun escape room in downtown Raleigh. We completed the Castle of Loche room with 18 minutes to spare. We completed most of the room in about 30 minutes and spent about 12 minutes on the last puzzle. The room was simpler than ones we have done in the past. It was still fun and we would recommend it to those new to doing escape rooms. The employee running the room was attentive. We did not ask for hints but he did nudge us in the right direction towards the end. He just did not seem very into it. Some escape rooms are more theatrical with more backstory and a review at the end. This one was simple and even though we completed the room, we left with questions about the story line. We LOVED all the signs set out for pictures. The meme boards were hilarious. We started on time, the instructions were clearly communicated, and all the equipment worked well. You can keep your belongings with you and set them on a chair in the room. We parked on the street since the adjacent lots are for church parking or AT&T employees only. Overall, we had a good time and recommend this escape room to others. We likely will return to try out the upcoming asylum room! read more

We had so much fun with our first escape room here on 2/15 that we immediately found another room for 2/16 and booked it! Honestly one of the coolest escape room buildings and we really enjoyed the rooms we did. Our first room was Sir Walter Speakeasy and we got out a little past our hour but still got it nonetheless! We had so much fun here! The location is in downtown Raleigh, close to a parking deck and food at Morgan Street Food Hall. When you walk in, there's a small waiting room and some games to play while you wait. The game master was very nice and treated us all with respect. The whole vibe of the Tower Escape is worth going. It's like being locked away in an ancient castle, which adds to the ambiance and mystique. From what I could tell, two of the escape rooms start on the 2nd floor of the tower, and one room is on the first floor. The one on the first floor and another room are in the tower itself (although the first floor room feels like an extension of the hallway by the waiting room) and from what I could tell, the last escape room is over the waiting room and not actually in the tower itself (although I could be totally wrong). My family (2 adults and 2 kids 10 years old) did "The Secret of the Tower Keeper", which is in the uppermost two levels of the tower. The puzzles are all challenging, but totally doable; we only had to ask for help 4 times during the whole hour. All of the puzzles are automated, which I thought was cool-- at no point did anything break or function incorrectly. And it was so satisfying every time we got a puzzle right and a door would unlock and pop open. My gripes are small. The waiting room was pretty small and there wasn't anywhere to put coats or our phones, etc., so we carried them with us and left them on a windowsill in the escape room. Our game master was awesome, but at the end he gave us a hint even though we hadn't asked for one, and it was one of the last hints in the whole game (and we still had like 15 minutes left), so it kind of ruined winning the challenge. I assumed he was helping us out because we had two kids with us, but again, we hadn't asked for the hint and it would have been so cool to figure that part out ourselves. Overall, I highly recommend going here. If you're an advanced escape room participant, some of the puzzles may seem a tad easy, but there are certainly others that I wouldn't have figured out in time without assistance. Pro tip: be sure to arrive 15 minutes early to get settled. A group arrived after us, and they were 15 minutes late, which got deducted from their overall time. read more

My sister is an Escape Games connoisseur and has prettty much crazily done all the escapes across the country with multiple companies, and dragged me along. While I appreciate a good puzzle, immersion is something I look for. We absolutely love multi-rooms and traps and surprises in escape rooms. Makes it more real, rather than locks and combinations after locks and combinations. It can get repetitive. The Tower escape games were in a single room, so the clues were "one after another" becoming repetitive, and bland after staying in one small room. A few of the instructions can be confusing. A nice place to bring a group for team building. More chill and have everyone in one room. Would be good to have a designated leader. read more

This was a fun escape room with friends. we did a crime theme room where we had to solve the mystery. I do think the room design/set is pretty simple like the one we did we stayed only in one room the whole time. Other escape rooms I did usually have a second surprised room/area during the puzzles. The puzzles were unique and fun. There were many parts to them. The staff was really nice. We were able to complete the puzzle in under the hour with 11 min to spare. I think most escape room are pretty expensive so I do wish the room itself looked more elaborate in design but overall it was a good time. I've been to a number of escape rooms and it's interesting to see how different each one is. They're set in downtown Raleigh with a really cool location but my friends and I did the Crime Scene room instead of what seems like the main attraction (the Tower). This was a very logical escape room and the puzzles and clues followed that theme. They had good story telling with the room which is a plus. I personally like a full experience, where we have been forced to unlock a new section in the room and the environment changes which really sets the scene. Great friendly staff here though, and even though we didn't try the other rooms I just hope it's more complex. Still really enjoyed my time though!! read more

So, we did the castle murder one. We'll planned out and good clues. Overall, IF the staff is doing their job and being attentive, it would be excellent. Today that wasn't our experience. We were having significant difficulty with one clue so we asked for a hint. We ended up asking for 13 minutes. The room is locked so we couldn't leave and ask for assistance. We pounded on the door and rang the bell as instructed. Then we followed the clue and nothing happened. It turned out the staff didn't reset the clue from last time. We lost about 20 minutes on that one part and at that point lost most of our interest. When we asked where the staff member was when we asked for a clue for so long he said "you only rang the bell once." So I asked if he stepped away and he admitted he was helping other customers and they were fully booked. Ok, I get that but you can't literally lock a customer in a room and not be available. We had access to an emergency exit but poor customer service isn't an emergency and we would have needed to stop the game. I asked about the clue that didn't work until suddenly it did and he admitted that he didn't reset the room correctly from the last time. There was no offer of apology other than "that's on me." read more

First of all, the staff at Tower Escapes did us a huge favor. We drive in from Winston-Salem and got stuck in traffic. They started our game fifteen minutes late due to our arrival. We called from the crawling traffic on Hwy 40 and they offered us the late start. Thanks! We took on the Loche Castle escape. Early on it offered opportunities for collaboration. Roughly half way through the puzzle the puzzles got linear ( meaning 1 or 2 people focused to solve the puzzle to reveal the next in the solution. We like rooms which demand collaboration/coordination through more of the escape. Yes, we escaped! read more

Came here twice and both times were so much fun despite losing the first. The hosts at this establishment were both super welcoming and warm. Made my husband and I feel so comfortable as "out of towners". I recommend the Sir Walter speakeasy room. Super fun and has the coolest back story if you ask me. Went with a group of 7 and it was a cool experience! I liked the puzzles but I wish there was more to it. Most escape rooms I've gone to had different rooms but this was only one. The receptionist was not very warm, and we had trouble understanding what she was saying as she rattled through the instructions very quickly, and they were hard to follow. While in the escape room, we found it difficult to understand her clues because the sound from the intercom was garbled. Some of the clues were very vague. We went as a family (parents and teen) and did the "The secret of the tower keeper" room. The old building and stone aesthetic of the room added to overall feel and mystery. The round room is in the tower section of the building, although only 3 of us, the room could easily fit more people comfortably for bigger groups. Puzzles and clues were solvable and had the right balance of obvious and harder to get (we definitely used all of our hints) as well as pretty good tech surprises along the way. Our host was great and he added much to our overall experience. If we had to say one thing that could use improvement is that the hints were sometimes hard to hear (would break up over the intercom system). I've been twice now. I really like this place. The people who worker there are super helpful when you get stuck. I've done the Castle Loche and the Secret of the Tower Keeper. Tower Keeper is my favorite so far. It was soooo much fun! It's 100% worth it. My only criticism is it's hard to hear when they talk to you through the intercom when you ask for help. You and your party have got to be silent and at least one person better have excellent hearing! read more
