Second time on a staycation here. They are finishing up some holiday decorations when I arrived and it looked fantastic I got the same room I had before. It's a partial ocean view yet comes with a in room jacuzzi tub which is what I want most. The room is spacious. Great king sized bed. Fluffy towels. Wish they had water in the coffee pot or free water bottles. Service is always professional and sweet. From valet, front desk, the restaurant I'll continue with my stays here!! read more

I received this confirmation from Tower 23. As you can see in the photo, my reservation is May 24-28. However the room breakdown underneath is for May 23-27. Clearly a Friday night is more expensive than a Tuesday night. I reached out to the hotel reservations email. They said their system had a glitch. I was still having trouble understanding why I am being charged a Friday night rate as opposed to a Tuesday night rate. Angelica (I think that was her name) called me and was annoyed from the start. When I was still not understanding her explanation, she became outwardly annoyed. I asked her why she was getting frustrated with me when I was just trying to understand a discrepancy sent from the hotel. At that point she put me on hold to get a manager. I never asked for a manager, and was happy to work with her. After being on hold for a few minutes, she came back on the phone and asked if I received the room break down she sent me. I had not, I received a reservation confirmation, but it only provided a nightly average, not the daily room breakdown. I did eventually receive the room breakdown, but I am still not understanding why I received the original confirmation. Angelica asked me if I was satisfied at that point, and I said since she wanted me to speak to a manger I felt I should. She then said her manager was not available and her supervisor would be there in 10 mins. (The manager she wanted me to speak to.) At that point I asked the managers name and to please have the manager call me back. I look forward to speaking with Elizabeth. In this economic time when we have the choice where we spend our money, it was veery off-putting to receive the service from Angelic based on the error of the hotel's reservation system (again see photo). If this is any indication of what my stay at Tower 23 will be like, I would like a full refund and I will gladly book a hotel that will welcome my patronage. We stayed here for the first time and it was such a wonderful and relaxing getaway. The staff was attentive and very accommodating. The hotel is impeccable and it was the first time in a while I didn't feel the need to Lysol everything down. We stayed in a suite with a partial view and I highly recommend it-better yet go with the full view! It was so nice soaking in the tub while listening to the ocean waves. The room was a generous size and came with two bath robes. We also ordered room service from the restaurant below. It was pricey but had some good bites. There are also plenty of places within walking distance. My only critique is the jets in the tub had some build up in them so some residue was floating around in the bath. Just make sure to run the jets before filling up the tube. read more

This hotel is fantastic. We stayed there two nights ago in a full ocean view Sweet Suite. The two balconies we had were gorgeous biews The bed with the massage and raising foot and head was super comfy. But the best thing of all was the jacuzzi tub. The water to fill the tub comes from the ceiling. Really fun. The staff, I don't have all of their names, but Jessica from my first call helped with everything I needed. Brought us a lovely welcome spa items gift. They were ALL fantastic. Our breakfast on the 2nd floor deck was delicious . The waiter we had - Robby - was THE best - kind and thoughtful. My Girlfriend and I stayed here last weekend for a wedding, that took place at this Hotel. Neither one of us had ever been to this hotel. All in all it was a great stay! The staff were courteous and professional, some more than others, but still very polite and courteous. The large guy that acts as the bouncer for the restaurant was the most friendliest guy of the whole place! Props to him for his winning personality! The rooms were great, although for the price / cost it is for the rooms you would figure the furniture would be in tip-top shape. One of our furniture pieces on the bottom corner looked like it had been dropped, or water damage, or something. Not sure but for the cost of the rooms, there shouldn't be any damaged furniture. The rooms came with a great mini-bar, snacks to purchase (Although the alcohol was a better price than the snacks). There were robes, a nice balcony, and the beds were very comfortable. Everything is just a walk away, which is great! My only issue, was that we woke up early on check out day and asked for a late check out in case we needed it. We have asked this of every Hotel we have every stayed at and always a positive yes. However, the response we got from Tower23 was that they reached their max and could not grant a late check out.... read more

I've had basically their whole menu of appetizers. All of them are very good. I recommend this place for a quick cocktail and a quick bite. Not really a place to get a meal, although that is definitely on the menu. Reason for subtracting a star is their service is sometimes slow, especially at the bar. No urgency at all. No acknowledgement of guests until it's convenient for them. Not even a "hi, I'll be with you in a moment." But other than that, can't beat the setting, view, and great for apps. I recommend their calamari. One of my fav calamari dishes in San Diego. read more

This was our second time here. Last time was a perfectly served brunch and today's lunch did not disappoint. The spot is beautiful and the service is exactly what every restaurant goer wants- Lots of refills on iced tea and water, polite, and no mistakes in our orders. We had the short rib tacos, the ceviche, and the Jordan salad. Everything was lovely. The tacos are messy but worth it. Came here for drinks but was told We couldn't have any garnishments with our drinks like an a bloody Mary or Mojito without mint, or a lime in our gin and tonic, The reasoning was because the garnishments are in the open, well garnishment trays do you have lids on them plus there are no people in the restaurant except for the bartender yet they serve food and I'm sure the food is open in the kitchen so that made absolutely no sense. I just stayed here the for the second visit. Great location and very nice comfortable rooms, particularly if you have an ocean view. I love the clean contemporary decor. It's a bit hard to review during COVID as some amenities are unavailable. That said enjoyed using the bikes which are available as part of the resort fee. Service was very good.my only complaint is the water pressure isn't great and it was very (VERY) hard to get the proper temp on the shower. Took about 15 minutes of either freezing or scalding water... will definitely be back and hope this issue is resolved. read more

So my entirety of this review is centered around inexcusable behavior of a single employee who is a bellman by the name of Ricardo! I'm a professional makeup artist and came to tower 23 to service a client of mine that was staying there paying in excess of $500 per night. Now mind you I've been doing this a while and most hotels know us and are very helpful and welcoming. This one was not. I came in with a ton of bags and politely asked the guy at the desk ( who turned out to be a bellman by the name Ricardo ) if they had a bell cart. He responded yes. I asked if he could please get one for me as I had a lot of stuff to bring up. He rolled his eyes and walked away, never got the bell cart. I thought maybe I had asked the wrong person and that's why he had that reaction. Come to find out I had asked the bellman for a bell cart. I know, wtf was I thinking. I mean really god forbid someone actually do what they get paid to do. So I found my own bell cart and got up to the room. I saw Ricardo later that morning and thanked him for his help. He got real close to me and said "I don't care" . Man! That is some stellar customer service. Finally when I was packing to leave I went down the hall to get a bell cart and he was in the hallway. He literally blocked the hallway like he was going to square off with me to fight. Wtf is going on in this hotel, who is the management that hires people like this. No wonder a hotel right on the beach has such a terrible rating. Extremely over priced with absolutely terrible service. You couldn't pay me enough to ever step foot in that place, it's a ripoff and dangerous, the employees clearly have some anger management issues. Maybe the hotel should pay for employee therapy. Either way your literally better off camping on the beach in a box. At least the beach bums know to be polite and use good manners! read more

I am surprised I did not write any review of Tower 23 up until now, because My husband and I love this place. We moved to SD 4 years ago and on my birthday we always have breakfast at Pacific Beach. PB was the first tourist place we visited in SD so it is very special to us. The first time in Tower 23 though was this year and I loved it! Since the first time in February we came back 3 times for breakfast and a few weeks ago we went for lunch and OMG! We enjoyed amazing sea food! Getting a table outside is the best, although sometimes in rash hours is difficult to get one and those who does not like to eat under the sun, it is not recommended. Just a tip: there is a door in front of the beach that goes straight to the patio/outside of Tower 23 but is closed from the outside. The entrance is around the corner, but, you can exit from the "front" door. read more

This place is beautiful. By beautiful, I mean you can't get a better view in PB than here. The ocean, the interior the patio- it's all super chic and just plain beautiful to look at. I guess it's a part of a hotel and there's a valet garage that you drive in (and can get comped for up to three hours after dining) and its a nice luxe. The place inside seemed to get pretty lively too, not with music more of a high class young 30s older 20s crowd which I can now appreciate. We ordered a Pisco sour which apparently are the best here but I'll have to come back for the food. Great place for a date! Hint-hint. If anyone gets proposed to, it probably should be here too! The hotel staffs were wonderful! However, the restaurant staffs were ignorant with horrible attitude. I ordered breakfast to be delivered to the room. I ordered too much food and so I needed a togo box, and togo syrup for my brioche French toast. (It was my last day at the hotel so I needed to take it to go instead of wasting food). I went down to the restaurant and asked them nicely for a to go box and syrup for my brioche French toast. I told them my room number and had ordered the brioche French toast along with other food...... And the reception lady and the waitress was giving me an attitude. They went and got me the Togo box, and told me they couldn't find syrup. Wtf... It's barely 11am.. syrup should be available for customers. It's a freaking restaurant.. . how could they not have extra syrup for customer to take it to go. Oh wait.... they couldn't find it probably cuz I'm Asian. read more

Love this place! The food is delicious, it's right at the beach, and there is free valet parking in the building (make sure you get your ticket validated at the restaurant). What more could you want from a San Diego restaurant? I love going for brunch! I have had Big Mama's French Toast, Shrimp and Grits, and the Bloody Mary (which was like at appetizer on its own). I had brunch with my girlfriend here last Sunday. The location and venue are wonderful. We had the poke platter and fish tacos, and both were delicious. This place is pricey for brunch. The 2 stars is for our server. We had ordered drinks and she never brought them. We asked, and eventually they came after our food was served, I sent mine back. In addition, my first order was an eggs Benedict. The egg whites were runny and not fully cooked. The waitress argued with me, and said this is how their restaurant cooks them. I ended up ordering tacos, as the eggs put me off. Later, the waitress's attitude was nicer and more attentive for unknown reasons. read more

Our stay here was a good one. This hotel is a great value: balcony with a good view of the ocean, just a few feet away from the beach and at the heart of Pacific beach. It's family friendly and they offer complementary bike rentals. If you stay here I highly recommend trying the coffee shop next door - Pacific Bean Coffee.
