I had an absolutely fantastic experience with Larry from San Leandro Auto Upholstery! His shop has…read morerecently been renamed and moved just one block down to 296 139th Avenue in San Leandro, but it's still the same AWESOME Larry that everyone raves about -- and now I understand why. Larry does truly top-notch work and clearly takes a lot of pride in what he does. I came in to ask about my convertible soft top, and he didn't just rush me out the door -- he took his time, explained everything in detail, and gave me extremely helpful and informative advice. You can tell he really knows his craft and has years of experience. He also gave me one heck of a deal repairing my S2000 seats! What I really appreciated was that he gave me different ideas and options specifically to help save me money. It was very clear he was watching out for my budget and not just trying to upsell me. That level of honesty is rare these days, and I truly appreciate quality workmanship combined with genuine honesty. On top of that, Larry is just a genuinely kind-hearted person and a pleasure to talk to. It's rare to find someone who is not only highly skilled but also honest, patient, and truly cares about helping customers make the right decisions. If you need upholstery work, convertible top work, or seat repair -- Larry is the guy to go to. Highly, highly recommend. 5 stars all the way!

I am the proud owner of a 26 year-old car. It is an absolute workhorse of an automobile. I have…read moretaken good care of it, and it has taken good care of me. Even after some jack-in-the-box kept going straight in a turn-only lane years ago and rammed right into me, and his insurance wanted to total my car, I refused, fixed my baby up, and got it back on the road (despite the DMV's ridiculous salvage process). I don't believe in throwaway culture, I believe in making things last. So after 26 years, it's still running like a champ, but needed some cosmetic work - and don't we all. The headliner was peeling off in the rear, and fabric on a door panel had also come off. I took it in to Alameda Auto Upholstery, spoke with the owner Jose, and he quoted me $350 to replace the headliner and reattach the fabric on the door panel. I thought that was pretty reasonable, and agreed on the price. On the day of service, Jose and his team had my car done in 6 hours or so, very quick. The work looks great, I'm glad I invested the money. A few years ago, this place also put in a new convertible cover on my partner's Miata, and did a nice job with that as well. Would recommend this business for your auto upholstery needs.

Anyway, after going to three shops I landed at AAUG. I got the initial estimate (after they also checked with the dealer for the cover price, which were very expensive and one was back-ordered - so we went with custom), slept on it and decided to go for it. I brought my car back so we could choose the fabric - we got VERY close to the original, not identical. They were SOO stinking nice, they both felt like old friends. I brought my car in first thing on a Friday morning and picked it up Saturday afternoon. It looks absolutely FANTASTIC! I still don't know how he did it in a day! They were also able to fix my rear seat that was partly coming undone. Exceptional work! HIGHLY recommend!

He was very good with laying down expectations of what could and could not be done to restore the cars (which he exceeded, but we will come to that later). The newer Highlander had scratches and artwork from sidewalk chalk all over with significant damage. Mike worked his magic and restored it in a day (and was even gracious about me nervously checking up on his progress through the day). The car came back looking shiny and bright with no signs of the vandalism it had endured. 10/10. The second car was an old black sedan and while I didn't have much hope for it, Mike managed to get the chalk scratches out from that one as well. He also cleaned the headlights (which was a nice bonus and not part of the job). He was very professional throughout the process and gave me a good price for both the cars. I hope my cars are never vandalized like that again but atleast I know who I would go to now if they ever are!

I have nothing but good things to say about this shop. The quality of their window tint, PPF, and…read moreceramic coating work is excellent, but what really sets them apart is the prep work. The attention to detail before anything is applied is unmatched. They do not rush the process and clearly prioritize doing the job right over doing it fast. You can see that mindset reflected in the final result. Clean edges, no bubbles, no shortcuts, and a very consistent finish throughout. They genuinely go above and beyond. Every surface feels properly corrected, cleaned, and protected, and the materials they use are clearly high quality. The results are better than anything I have witnessed, and I have been in the auto industry for over 15 years, so I have seen a lot. Heat rejection, paint clarity, and overall protection are all noticeably better than what I have experienced elsewhere. Communication was professional, timelines were clear, and pricing was transparent. The car was returned on schedule and in immaculate condition. This shop has been serving the community for a long time, and it shows. My dad trusted this place with all of his vehicles for years, and now I am following in his footsteps. That kind of long-term trust is earned. If you are looking for premium work done with care, patience, and pride, this is the place to go.
