The bad: Once you get over the cool glasses you realize that you just paid 13 dollars for an absolutely packed glass of ice. GF Couldn't even get a sip out using a straw on the first pull. By the second pull, beverage was gone. Way overpriced for what you get which in essence is a tall glass of ice with a splash of booze. Sad.

At the Carpenter Bar, the lights are low, there is minimal seating, and it's easy to just slow down, sip on your drink, and enjoy your evening. If you're looking for a Busch light or a vodka Red Bull, this probably isn't your scene, but if you appreciate the finer things and attention to detail with your spirits, definitely try to get a table or a seat at the bar here. I will definitely go back. This Three-Quarter Nelson cocktail is essentially a whiskey sour with a little amaretto softening the spirit and adding such a delicious nutty element to the drink.

One of the highlights of the evening was learning about the building's history and hearing about the upcoming live music that performs downstairs in the cozy speakeasy. It's definitely a reason to come back again. And a huge shoutout to Leo, the waiter, he is the bomb! Friendly, attentive, personable, and he genuinely made us feel welcome. The ambiance was pretty cool and the appetizers of stuffed peppers, chicken skewers and beef meatballs weren't bad. The table settings for the dinner itself were great. They had candles and branches set in vases, with flowers for the wedding party tables. The dance floor was pretty small but luckily it was a small wedding. There's space for a photo booth if you decide to have one against the back wall leading to the bathrooms. The catered food was delicious, only the green beans were a bit salty. Cons: Because it's a shared venue you could occasionally hear the music from the club side of the venue. The bathrooms were also shared which prevented the usual bathroom necessities you find during weddings. There was no coat check, only rolling hangers which I periodically checked on since it was closer to the shared doorway. And the structure of the building meant there were pillars blocking some folks during speeches. Overall this was a solid venue to have a wedding, and they did a really good job setting up tables, and with the food.

Went on Friday night, 11/3/18, and an acoustic duo (guitar guy, vocalist girl) were performing. Now, supporting local talent is cool and both of them had a reasonable singing voice but EACH AND EVERY SONG sounded the same. A shrilly, high pitched, vocal rendition of modern tunes that after awhile, grated on your nerves. It really ruined the evening there and I was begging and praying for them to go on break for 45 minutes. I probably will go back and try it once more but I hope mgmt really takes a good hard look at who they hire as 'entertainment'.

All patrons seemed satisfied, and 'twas a quiet crowd during happy hour--which suited us perfectly. Can't speak to the food, but this place definitely specializes in clear liquids. I'd recommend planning out your grub situation and leaving a clean slate for Paramount to do what it does best.

We got a reservation for a Saturday night, but this didn't seem necessary as there were plenty of open tables. Our server was kind and funny, making us feel fine with accidentally blowing out our table candle. Now what you really want to know is about the food. It was simply divine. We both had signature dishes, lobster tortellini and the pork chop. Both dishes were delicious. The lobster tortellini had a corn sauce, which was perfectly paired with greens. The pork chop was juicy and perfectly cooked. We also shared the tiramisu, which was the perfect ending to our meal. The sommelier was able to provide us with a wine that met our wants and would pair nicely with our meal. An upscale dining experience that is worth every single penny. If you're prone to accidentally blowing out your candle, maybe bring your own lighter. The space is comfortable and unlike other restaurants in Sioux Falls.
