I can't say Total Wine & More in Uptown Albuquerque, NM, had everything I wanted - because they didn't - but close enough. I like the organization of this chain every time I walk inside. This location was clean, organized, and always had nice attentive employees ready to assist. I came here on November 26, 2025 hoping to find Old Elk Blended Straight Bourbon Whiskey for my brother and girlfriend for Christmas. They had a bottle, but not the less expensive one they would want. So my sales guy gave me other recommendations that worked just fine. The young lady at the register was nice, but not as fast as the other employees. Parking was a bit tight but I think this was due to the hustle and bustle of the then approaching Thanksgiving holiday. read more

I was looking for the tequila section. GT was kind enough to show me where to find the 818 brand I was looking for...then we started discussing what we liked. GT recommended the Gonzalez Anejo. He was then kind enough to offer a tasting. I tried the repososado and then the Anejo. I did enjoy the Anejo better than the one I had been purchasing. He started talking to me about the fact that Total Wine does tastings on their products. Certain bottles with the yellow crowns were usually available for the tasting during the scheduled times. Coming here in the middle of the afternoon on New Year's Eve is like visiting a toy store on Christmas Eve. It was packed! But instead of frantic, stressed individuals, the patrons were happy and loved shopping for ordinary and extraordinary alcoholic beverages. We were on a quest for El Padrino, Reposadra. The Blanc was on the end of an aisle. We had to go down the aisle to find it. No worries. We also looked for Coors Light, and one of the friendly employees guided us to it. Prices are great here, by the way. Check out lanes were not too long, and while waiting in line, we engaged in conversations about our selections with others waiting for a cashier. Our cashier was patient and friendly. When we asked if they'd close early (nope) or close tomorrow (nope), he told us employees only have one holiday off a year - Christmas. A friend and I attended their holiday pairing event, 20 dollars and so fun! They had a huge charcuterie board, and about 10 different alcohols to taste. The interest thing about entering this location was that security asked me to leave my backpack at the counter while shopping. On problem as I follow the rules. The people here were nice and helpful so I was in and out quickly. The lady at check out was also nice and concerned as I mentioned that I was walking a few blocks to my hotel. I was out front at the benches texting with my friend about what to get at the store. The security guard came up and was like are you ok. It was like he thought I was up to something as I had the audacity to sit at the benches they provided for customers. I was minding my own business and he had no reason to come up to me or even engage with me. I was immediately made uncomfortable. How dare I sit at a public bench - WTF! Then when I got the info I needed from my friend the same security person was all weird with me because I had a bag. I was like I'm happy to check it no big deal. Another employee came over and I explained the security guard was harassing me for sitting at public bench and how stupid that was. Honestly Total Wine you are going to have a bench in front of your store but mess with people for sitting there. Ridiculous If you don't want someone sitting there don't have a bench- seems like a very simple concept. I'm now at the side of the building in the shade waiting 12 min for my Uber. This place has gone so far downhill in wine selection. It's flooded with budget bin wine with double-digit prices. Chilean or Argentinian wines? Good luck. It's packed with Italian garbage wines. Used to be a 12% wine would be scoffed at, now it's $25. I was there on their opening day and I've never been disappointed by them. They have regular free tastings of wine AND beer that have helped me discover some fantastic vintages that I never would have tried on my own. The staff is really knowledgeable about their products and always helpful with a recommendation as well. They have honest descriptions posted with the wines. Also, if the price ends in a seven, it is the absolute lowest price available and therefore not coupon eligible. It's an easy system to use! Otherwise they have a great loyalty program and a mix and match offer! Their selection is extensive and cannot be matched in the area. Their prices are also the best. This was the second time of having a very disappointing experience at this specific store. Overall the store is a bit pricier than most supermarkets and some other liquor stores. Therefore, you'll be reimbursed with a wide selection and usually find what you're looking for. But, beware! At this store it happened twice that I was charged for more than what I actually bought. First time I had a pretty big bill and didn't notice initially. This time I didn't notice in the store either. But, when I received a msg about what was charged to my CC I realized that I was ripped off again, unless the tax was suddenly increased to over 30%!!!! My bill before tax was $46.80. But, I was charged $65.10, about $15 (30%) more than what it should have been. Considering that this happened twice to me and once to a friend this seems to be common practice for that store in uptown. read more

I originally avoided this place, thinking that a speciality liquor store would be much more expensive than a typical grocery market, like Whole Foods. I was clearly proven wrong with my visit last night. Not only is their selection vast, it's also neatly organized via sections! The beer section was incredible... they even had a separate "seasonal" shelf, where I picked up an interesting chocolate-orange beer. The prices are fair, and they offer a rewards program! The employees are super friendly and knowledgeable, providing insight into their personal preferences. I had a hard time deciding which chocolate beer was better, with all the choices, and was able to narrow down the options with the help of one of them. I went in to get some wine for a dinner party and I had my little sister with me. Obviously I wouldn't leave her in the car so I brought her in with me. I am of age to drink, however the guy stopped us and asked if I was her mother. I told him I wasn't but I was her "guardian" for today. As a general note, dear reader, if you care about supporting local shops that truly know the civic booze landscape, you gotta head to Jubilation, prices are comparable and the service simply beats what you'll get at Total Wine. But when it comes to selection... Look, you should probably peruse other reviews, I buy two basics in this place: foreign beer (which rarely ever meets or beats what I can find locally) and bulk wine/liquor. The latter is simply way more affordable, with more to pick from, great for parties and celebrations. One other note: the parking lot can be a major bear, consider grabbing a shady spot at the neighboring lot, west. And always consider tacos. They're to the east. read more

The one stop shop for all your alcohol needs. Entering the place feels like being a kid in the candy store. They've got a little bit of something for just about everyone who drinks. From wine, to hard liquor, to beer, to kitchen essentials, even snacks, non alcoholic beverages, and mixes. They've got it all for you ultimate party or Netflix and chill nights. I don't often, but when I do I prefer local breweries for my beer. Unfortunately I can't always go to them so luckily they carry them at the store. They have canned and bottled packs of Marble, La Cumbre, Santa Fe Brewing, Steel Bender, and so many more local breweries along with imported, and domestic beers such as Blue Moon, Budweiser, etc. they have a large selection of different liquor ranging from Rum, Whisky, Tequila, Gin and so many others. They have a large selection of great wines red or white depending on your preference. They even have a special room for cigars for those of you who partake. I am not a smoker so I wouldn't know the types they carry. Price wise these guys pretty reasonable. They do carry top shelf liquors, and those can be costly. Whatever your poison is they most likely got it. They also carry wine glasses, novelties, and even cool kitchen accessories and nick knacks that could come in handy. Personally if your looking to buy Handles of liquor, I recommend going to Costco or Sams because you'll find a much better deal at the wholesale stores for the larger quantity size.
