When I think of the way family-owned business was and is-- this establishment is going to be what comes to mind. This is a combination liquor store and restaurant. Customer service is their name and I just can't believe how well they do it. We were in the neighborhood, honestly, just looking to buy a few minis, and came about Monte Carlo. We left with 8 bottles of liquor, 1 case of wine, cups, ice, and the minis we originally came for! We were greeted the moment we walked in the door, pointed towards the sale items, given recommendations and offered samples-- I felt like royalty! We were explained that this business has been a local presence for many, many years and it's no surprise why. We will continue to come here, even though we live 30 minutes away, given this fantastic experience, wonderful prices, and exceptional service!

The baked potato was still hard hamburger steak was not tasty like before and the ribeye was to chewy . The staff has changed , the staff from April was missed this last visit .

The staff is super nice, and you see the same faces over the years, for the most part, so you can…read moretell it is a decent place to work. The food is REALLY diverse, with the tried-and-true favorites, as well as some more upscale, new agey things. They have a little bit of organic product (not much, but still surprising for a small store) they have a Japanese sushi bar, though I think they may be closing it down. They roast chile during the season when it has been harvested. THey do it in specially designed, big barrels outside the store and then they wrap it up and sell it to their customers. The variety is astonishing, really. In the produce, I recommend the blueberries, strawberries, cranberries (in season), avocados, green chile. For some reason, those things, in particular, are better than anywhere else in town. I suspect that this store has an "in" with local growers of SOMETHING. Basically, this store has pretty much EVERYTHING that a person needs in their household, including some gourmetish items. STAY AWAY FROM: The CHEESE. For some reason, I have had to return several cheese items. I don't think they are storing it properly. Also, the yellow onions look really tired but the white ones are just fine. THE BREAD is also not great. I've never been able to find an expiration date on any of their breads and I am suspicious about that. But at least they HAVE bread, when you're in a pinch. don't expect a lot in the meat department. They used to have a full time person behind the counter, but now the pickings are slim. The store has fallen on hard times since Covid, though, which is why I don't give them 5 stars. They USED to have a full SERVICE department, with Western Union and everything, but now they don't even pay out for the winning lottery tickets. (They do have a lottery machine, however, so at least you can buy them there.) I think that the pandemic made it difficult for them to get staff, but I am betting that when things improve in that department, they will be able to hire back some of the staff. The location of this store is very convenient, and it is a quick "in" and "out" - which is great for me, because I am disabled and can't be on my feet for very long. They switched from manned checkout stations to "do-it-yourself" about a year ago, but if they see someone struggling, they help them through the procedures. Today, when I went in there, I had a complicated checkout, using two different cards, so one of the gals opened up the manned checkout counter for me. They're nice like that. By the way, in the lot right next door, on 12th and Lomas, there is a small gas station with 4 pumps and a small little 7-11 type store THERE as well - but it's only good for EMERGENCY gas runs because it is very difficult to get in and out of there, the gas pumps NEVER have receipts. They always make you walk into the store to get a receipt from the checker, and their customer service stinks. I just mention it because having the gas station there HAS BEEN convenient a couple times when I was running really low on gas. This IS the best neighborhood place ever! When they're able to get more staff again, when they open up the service counter again, and when they get a real handle on the expiration dates on some of the foods, I'll come back and give them a '5." In the meantime, 4 stars for a great effort, good variety, and surprisingly good quality during difficult times.

I found everything okay, mildly rotten produce and sky high prices aside. But when I got to the register the woman there was very cold to me. I didn't know how the registers work with paying cash and when I asked her she sighed and rolled her eyes and just grabbed my cash from my hand without explaining to me that she had the cash register on her side. No other employee in the store greeted me or made eye contact. For buying an 8 dollar pint of ice cream I think I should at least get a "good evening". I work customer service I understand it can be hard but both times I've been in here the vibe is just bad

The tuna poke tostada was AMAZING. It was a bit pricy for the size, but it was well worth it and delicious. When I asked for some jam for my toast, they presented me with their homemade jam that was tart, sweet, and spicy. My overall experience was great.

Our server was quite honest with her recommendations and fast with her service. We chose a little get together for a colleague holiday celebration. So food and drinks needed to happen. For food we got the disco fries, which did not succumb to the wet ingredients and remained crunchy on the outside. The grilled chichitos had a few spicy exemplars but the rest were tolerable, with a lime aioli that made them pop. The chips and green chile queso were decent. The carne adobada was tender and easy to shred with good flavor. The Korean chicken and waffles were mine. They looked special and exciting. The gochujang maple sauce was interesting but it lacked sweetness and spicy. It was a very tame flavor. The chicken was very crispy on the outside but not too moist on the inside, making that cut into the chicken pieces quite tricky. The waffle was ok. Our drinks, however, were stellar heroes for the night. The hot cocoa with rum was warm, sweet, delicious, and full of whipped cream sprinkled with cinnamon powder. It was a very rummy and wintery drink. The desperado was quite summery, for a big contrast from the hot cocoa. It was crisp, fresh, and a bit sour like a good tepache. And last but not least, the meat & potato man was a powerful and surprising drink, as it was small but full of different flavors that worked together like magic. Overall, I'd recommend the drinks, ambiance, and service at this place. The food, needs more work to match the flavors and quality of their drinks.
