The staff is super nice, and you see the same faces over the years, for the most part, so you can tell it is a decent place to work. The food is REALLY diverse, with the tried-and-true favorites, as well as some more upscale, new agey things. They have a little bit of organic product (not much, but still surprising for a small store) they have a Japanese sushi bar, though I think they may be closing it down. They roast chile during the season when it has been harvested. THey do it in specially designed, big barrels outside the store and then they wrap it up and sell it to their customers. The variety is astonishing, really. In the produce, I recommend the blueberries, strawberries, cranberries (in season), avocados, green chile. For some reason, those things, in particular, are better than anywhere else in town. I suspect that this store has an "in" with local growers of SOMETHING. Basically, this store has pretty much EVERYTHING that a person needs in their household, including some gourmetish items. STAY AWAY FROM: The CHEESE. For some reason, I have had to return several cheese items. I don't think they are storing it properly. Also, the yellow onions look really tired but the white ones are just fine. THE BREAD is also not great. I've never been able to find an expiration date on any of their breads and I am suspicious about that. But at least they HAVE bread, when you're in a pinch. don't expect a lot in the meat department. They used to have a full time person behind the counter, but now the pickings are slim. The store has fallen on hard times since Covid, though, which is why I don't give them 5 stars. They USED to have a full SERVICE department, with Western Union and everything, but now they don't even pay out for the winning lottery tickets. (They do have a lottery machine, however, so at least you can buy them there.) I think that the pandemic made it difficult for them to get staff, but I am betting that when things improve in that department, they will be able to hire back some of the staff. The location of this store is very convenient, and it is a quick "in" and "out" - which is great for me, because I am disabled and can't be on my feet for very long. They switched from manned checkout stations to "do-it-yourself" about a year ago, but if they see someone struggling, they help them through the procedures. Today, when I went in there, I had a complicated checkout, using two different cards, so one of the gals opened up the manned checkout counter for me. They're nice like that. By the way, in the lot right next door, on 12th and Lomas, there is a small gas station with 4 pumps and a small little 7-11 type store THERE as well - but it's only good for EMERGENCY gas runs because it is very difficult to get in and out of there, the gas pumps NEVER have receipts. They always make you walk into the store to get a receipt from the checker, and their customer service stinks. I just mention it because having the gas station there HAS BEEN convenient a couple times when I was running really low on gas. This IS the best neighborhood place ever! When they're able to get more staff again, when they open up the service counter again, and when they get a real handle on the expiration dates on some of the foods, I'll come back and give them a '5." In the meantime, 4 stars for a great effort, good variety, and surprisingly good quality during difficult times. read more

I was impressed with the variety at this little market! While you may not be able to find certain speciality foods, they have a wide variety of fun and funky items. I loved their quirky soda variety, and the cheap produce! I will definitely be stopping in for produce in the future. I have been coming to this store since I was able to walk. I now live by myself and go to this store with my girlfriend. We are both young, which apparently makes us number 1 targets when we walk in. Every time I'm in there the security guard follows us around. Than at checkout there always offering to help at the register instead of the self checkout or immediately ending there conversations between each other to watch the tablet to make sure we're not stealing. I have never ever stolen or given them the intention that I would steal. If you're a minority good luck getting the proper help here because all they do it stalk you. Also we saw a guy shit in the parking lot than when we called they told us off. Smiths has the exact same stuff but a couple dollars cheaper on any item, plus the manager always asks to make sure I'm finding everything okay. read more

The last few times at Lowe's has been a stressful and uncomfortable experience. Me and my boyfriend come in almost every week to do our grocery shopping , so I feel that the workers should be familiar with us by now. The last few times we visited to get our groceries, the security guard followed us around and they rarely let us use the self checkout. When they do let us, they definetly make sure to stop what they are doing in that moment just to come watch us check out. Me and my boyfriend have never given them a reason to think we are stealing nor have we ever stole anything from there ever! My boyfriend grew up in that neighborhood and his family shops there religiously and they never have this problem. Not to mention we had seen a man defecate on the floor in the parking lot and called the store so they can make sure he was okay only for them to say we were lying and proceed to be rude and hang up the phone on us! But just went in for my wic groceries and my mom came with me and paid her stuff in cash separately first which the women working saw and when I was paying for my wic she constantly asked me rudely and with a mad look if my moms milk was paid for after seeing her pay for it! I used to like this supermarket, but now I've put them on my boycott list. They've adopted the nasty policy of having people leave their backpacks at the front of the store. This is a major problem for me, since my chronic back problems prevent me from participating in driving culture. This corner market has a great selection considering it's on the smaller side of grocery stores. They have natural foods as well as conventional, and their prices are decent. I love how it convenient it is for my neighborhood. It's the only market around and I feel lucky it's a good one. I'm not wild about their only being self-serve checkout but I've adapted. read more

We visited Lowe's Market, as we saw that it was close to our AirBnB, and needed to pick up a few food and drink items. It has that neighborhood, corner grocery store kind of feel to it, with not a lot of people shopping and one person working, and just the basics and essentials here. We noticed that they do have some high-quality brand items we were looking for, yet with a limited selection. With that said, prices were on the higher side, but the items here weren't Whole Foods standards, if that makes sense. I'd say a mix of lower and higher brand items can be found here. The already-prepared food was lackluster, even the fresh produce of sliced fruit and packaged salads didn't seem all that appealing. We also visited in the evening, so items for the day could've been already been shopped for. But at least we found a few essentials of what we needed for our stay. read more

Lots of choices - in a small space. Very clean with friendly, professional employees. When you've invited last minute guests to dinner and you realize that you have nothing for that salad, or dessert . . . Lowe's will save you from running to a big chain supermarket. Plus, they have a great wine & beer selection. Parking is limited, but there always is a space. Always a basket. Always a smile. We live in the neighborhood and prefer to patronize this local market vs the larger chains, though it's starting to not be worth it anymore. The customer service is really sad. The workers always seem very "overwhelmed " and management/corporate have not listened to us customers. They insist on ushering everyone to the "self-checkout" kiosks. I am so upset by the little trans guy who seems to be the general mangager of this store. Last week, I saw a little old man walk over there - it was cold and windy and he seemed really beat down when he got in the store. I saw again at the cash register that was trying to purchase some beer. He looked to be in his 80s but the manager was really smirky while he wouldn't let him purchase the beer because his id was expired. I tried to buy the beer for him with my valid i.d. but this smug little jerk threatened to call the law because I was trying to buy alcohol for someone without i.d. This is my neighborhood grocery store - by far the most convenient place to shop but I won't shop there again until that awful person is fired. read more

I live very close to the Lowes Grocery Store on 11th and Lomas and I have been shopping there for 15 years. The staff there are now so horribly rude that I will consider no longer shopping there. Today I was purchasing some n.a. beer and my teenaged son was with me at the checkout. He was being helpful and picked up the 6 pack of beer for me. The manager came running over and threatened to refuse service to me because my son was touching the non alcoholic beer. My son immediately set it down, but she continued raging at us and threatening to kick us out. I obliged and left without my groceries. She followed us out of the store yelling that we were being rude! I am a middle aged woman and my son is a sweet boy who didn't know that he shouldn't touch the beer. I have seen employees there be incredibly rude to countless customers - particularly people of color. Let me start with... Wait for it... WOW! This is the most improved grocery in the whole of ABQ. There is a mix of conventional and organic products, and the feel of the store is really nice. When you walk in, you feel sorta like you walked into a Wholefoods. I would shop here more, but they aren't really close to my house. But, if I lived in the area, I would totally make a stop here. I was sort of shocked "amazed" at the beer selection. They have a full liquor selection, but the beers are many and varied. Stopping at the Lowe's grocery down by old town to get some water. Dude tries to start a fight with us in the parking lot; the full on "do you wanna go?" I'm with my wife and teenage daughter, so I'm not happy about it, but we go in and shop. Dude gets behind us in line; he's buying beer. My wife tells me to go start the car and take the kid. Security comes up to the dude and asks if he's okay. Dude weighs more than all three of us put together, starting a fight, women and kids around, mr macho--security wants to make sure HE is safe. I work right across the street... I mean, I could legitimately throw a quarter and definitely hit the parking lot, if not one of their little plants out front. I remember the first day I stopped into Lowe's (wow, it feels like forever ago) because it was my first day on the job and my bosses were running late. They said, check out the coffee across the street! Apppparently they were talking about 7-11, ew, but I just assumed the grocery store. Now, I hear I've been quite lucky to check this place out POST remodeling, so I'll gladly take it. I ended up purchasing a crazy blend of coffees that I mixed (7.99/lb) and got a bunch of mini bagels and a tub of cream cheese. Who doesn't love a new girl that supplies breakfast treats? Der. Anyways, I go here at least once or twice a week for groceries for my lunch, rather than buying something at a restaurant all the time. Things I love: the $5.99 rotisserie chicken. I buy one of these bad boys and have chicken salads and chicken sandwiches for lunch for days! Their soups are $3.99 (for about a bowl's worth) and my fave is the cream of green chile chicken. They rotate in other soups; wedding soup, vegetable beef, broccoli cheddar, chicken noodle, but posole and stew seem to remain daily, as well as any additional. They offer macaroni salad, mustard potato sal and chicken sal too. They have breakfast burritos for $3.99 daily also, as well as little packaged lunches they create *red chile beef enchiladas, green chile chicken enchiladas, wings, ham and mac and cheese, cod and vegetables, etc* You can find decent little sales here some weeks, and other weeks it's full price all the way lol. I like to get bags of romaine lettuce when they go on sale for 2 for $5. Also, a less expensive brand they offer "Shurfine" is actually quite tasty. Very similar to Kroger. And sometimes 16oz of assorted cheese goes on sale for 99c! They have 88c and 99c loaves of bread, too. The gentlemen who work behind the deli are the sweetest. I've also found deals on bacon wrapped jalapenos and pounds of bacon at the deli. Just have to be there at the right time, and for me, I'm there ALL of the time...lol ;) check this little market out though! Neat selection of products, friendly staff, but way way overpriced, the markup here on products on average is 25% or in some cases 50% money does not stretch far here and they don't have unique items, 90% of what you can find you can find at Walmart. Will use as a one stop but will continue my hunt for a local inexpensive option in Albuquerque. I was spoiled on the east coast with large German retail group driving prices way down. In most cases Albuquerque is far more expensive to live in than ever before. read more

This has got to be the most fun I've had in the grocery in a long time. I walked in and immediately was hearing The Bee Gees being played, followed by hit after classic hit. The store is packed with stuff and has a great selection of whatever you need. The customers are definitely colorful, which makes for great people watching as you shop. It's like going to a big city market right here in little ol Albuquerque, but I can see how that's not for everyone. I'll keep coming back for the sick tunes, and the diverse clientele. read more

I have lived by the 4th street Lowes since day one, and even though it isn't as fancy as the downtown Lowes, I have always enjoyed shopping there. It opens early enough to get those emergency items that you really need in the morning, and it stays open late enough for the evening items that you forgot. I have always enjoyed the service from the staff and especially the manager. She was always very caring and attentive to her customers' needs. I recently heard she was promoted, and will not be at this store. It's sad for us, but good for her because she truly deserves the best. read more

This is what grocery shopping looks like, gentrified. Gluten-free and organic products throughout. Wood-paneled walls and shelving, an updated storefront emphasizing "natural" stone and cedar overtones (quite likely imported materials), CARPET(?), and a microbrew selection that dwarfs the produce. Nice priorities. The strange thing is that this kind of just occurred out of thin air. For those of us who at one time lived downtown only to find ourselves commuting all over the city for groceries because we couldn't stomach (sometimes literally) the products and lack of service at the old Lowe's, this is a godsend. Honestly, it's ridiculous that the financial center of the city went so long without a solid grocery store, but I'm betting the pressure was on corporate headquarters after the Mayor recently announced an exploration to fund just such a project. And that's pretty awesome. Finally, downtown is developing into the kind of place a person can live, shop and play. For the time being, it appears that Lowe's will be recouping the remodel expense by upping the prices a good buck or two - on everything - so expect to drop a dime here, but it ain't Whole Wallet. The selection is limited, but fresh, and the meats and fish look worthy. So how 'bout it, neighboring 7-11? I think those gas pumps could use an update. Wood paneling, perhaps? That old parking lot could use some carpeting. And inside, an espresso bar, staffed with a barista perhaps? I could totally munch on some gluten-free cookies, while you're at it. I used to affectionately refer to this little neighborhood grocery store as the "ghetto Lowe's" as they had a rather scary clientele, dark parking lots, and 6 brands of lard. That is NOT THE CASE ANYMORE! They remodeled this store a couple of years and it is absolutely charming. From the metal cutouts of wheat (or corn?) at the entrance, to the new signage, to the layout. They really did the neighborhood proud with this remodel. Although not the cheapest place to shop for groceries, it's still not horribly overpriced and has a fine selection of fresh vegetables, and organic section, a deli with delightful green chile enchiladas and roasted chickens, an olive bar and even a sushi bar! Also new is their liquor license. It has a decent liquor selection (pricing is about $1-3 more per bottle, but it's convenient.) The wine selection is quite sad but the craft beer selection MORE than makes up for it. Local and national craft brews overpower the dull American lagers. It's absolutely wonderful to be able to get organic blue corn chips, local salsas, local beer, Santa Fe hummus and anything one needs to get by for the week two blocks from home, in downtown Albuquerque. read more

Yes, it's weird to have carpet in a grocery store. I don't get that. However, the selection at this store has improved so much I'm giving them 4 stars just for effort. Back in the day, you couldn't get anything here but diapers and fried pork rinds... Now you can get good fresh produce and organic items! Almost everything I have bought here has been bad, even when it looked just fine when I bought it, not good when it tends to be pricey compared to other places. We have nicknamed this local oasis in the downtown-Old Town food desert "Blows." They are a very limited selection of brand name foods and household goods at prices so high you swoon at checkout. They also carry fairly priced but low quality generic items produced marketed under the Shur-shine label. Fresh produce is not so fresh. Organic produce is available if you are very rich. The cashiers are usually unhappy and sour-pussed. I would give them one star but they do sell beer, wine and spirits; are open late on week nights; they keep the store and its parking lot impeccably clean; and they are often my only choice when shopping locally. The one exception to the usually profit-grasping, food-desert, kick-them-when-they're-down tactics is the butchers' counter. The quality of the meats are good, and the staff friendly and knowledgeable. The prices remain astronomical however. When you actually consider grocery shopping at the 7-Eleven next door instead, you know something is wrong. read more

The staff is helpful, the produce is great (those digitized scales are spiffy), they have awesome gluten-free & organics selections, the liquor selection is impressive, the olive bar is like WHOA, and their bathrooms are so clean! I can't totally decide if I'm a fan or creeped out by the carpet. However, I will say that it makes the shopping experience much quieter. They have a full-service meat & seafood counter and I think I'll be giving that a whirl in the near future. I have a Lowe's by my house and this one makes me envious!! Most products are way overpriced. I paid $10 for a jar of PB that I've gotten at Walmart for $2 - same brand, same size, same everything... Be careful buying produce! 60% of the fruits and vegetables I have bought has turned out to be rotten or moldy. The center "pseudo refrigerated" aisles do NOT do a good job of keeping food cool during the summer. These are the sections with the cut fruit & veg, hummus, guacamole, prepared, perishable meals. Hummus and guacamole shouldn't be hairy nor taste cultured, akin to goat cheese. The selection isn't great, either. read more

But what I dread is the unfriendly mood of the place. I was overcharged today. Had to go to customer. The cashier communicated that I was heading to the manager on duty.
