Tonal/Ryder takes forever to even allow scheduling. So a month after the request, my installation day arrives. It's odd that Ryder said they'd call or email an arrival window but I never get one. So I call and they say it looks like the installation equipment didn't make the truck so we need to reschedule and a week from today is the soonest. Good grief! I didn't even need the installation packet! I literally need a body to come put this thing on my wall. Not to mention, the woman in customer service I talked to clearly HATED that I called. I was very nice and respectful and all she had to give me was attitude. I could hear her frowning and rolling her eyes through the phone. Would've been easier to hire a dude through Thumbtack or something. Not worth the wait and hassle.

After calling around to a few different places, I was surprised at how good Ryder's truck prices were. I made a reservation over the phone with a girl at the Tempe location for a one way move and a drop off at their Phoenix location. She was so friendly and explained how their rental process works. Ryder charges by the day. $54 some odd dollars, plus mandatory insurance, and about .29 cents a mile. She quoted me about $100, and that was great! My final bill was $106 and some change. They have a variety of trucks to choose from! They have 16 and 24 foot box trucks, metro vans and quite a few other larger vehicles as well. I reserved a 16 foot truck, and went to pick it up on Friday, and it was huge! Truck was in great shape, and it even came with an automatic lift! I was impressed! (take THAT stupid U haul! you and your stupid ramps can go to hell! lol) We got to the rental location right at 6:30 am when they opened. They had a 16 foot truck, but told us that it had no air conditioning and was going to be an hour before it was ready because the headlight had to be replaced. They offered us a 24 foot truck for the same price, but that was wwwaaaayyyyy to big for me! They also said that if we didn't want to wait the hour, we could go to Glendale and get the 16 foot truck from them, but I said no, it would take more time to drive and get back, so Austin waited for it to be ready. I asked for a slight discount and they took a few dollars off the bill for the inconvienience. It literally took 1 hour to the minute! We both were impressed that their time quote was right on, so high 5 to them. Plus, they gave us options which was nice of them as well. Being that its not that hot outside right now, we decided to take the truck with no AC so it was no big deal to us. The guy behind the counter was wonderful. He was professional, treated us with respect, and seemed to know what he was doing. The rental process only took a few minutes, I signed some paperwork and I was on my way. The truck itself was clean, full of gas, and had an automatic power lift gate on the back. This makes loading so much easier! If you need to do a move in town, please, forget Uhaul and come here. The ONLY downside to ryder truck is that they don't rent moving dollys! I deducted a star for this, as its important to have for heavy items. If they did dolly rental, they would have received the extra star.

I rented a 15' truck from this U-Haul dealer on 9/12 and returned it on 9/14 after only driving it…read morefor a total of TWO miles. To my surprise, I was charged $17.25 for 3 gallons of gas. Keep in mind, only drove 2 miles. When I inquired about the charge, the dealer was unhelpful and unwilling to resolve the issue. So I get punished for their incompetence, and their lack of ability to do their job. That or it was a deliberate tactic to take advantage of the truck's vague gas gauge design to deceive the customer into thinking the gas gauge is where they "recorded" it. Not recorded as in an actual photo but instead writing it on paper. I strongly suggest finding another U-Haul dealer with better customer service. This dealer lacks accountability and willingness to help their customers.

However, I can't say enough about Ernie who is the owner of this location I believe. He took care of me expeditiously and helped me attach my car dolly to the truck. He worked with me in every way to ensure I felt comfortable for my cross country move. Customer service on 1000. The truck had 70k on it and the car dolly was brand new. Highly recommend this location!

First got a quote on line from U-Haul for a 16-foot moving truck and then tried Penske. The…read moreannoying thing with Penske's website is in order to get a quote you have to enter your e-mail and phone number (you can of course fake those). Penske turned out to be slightly less than U-Haul, but I didn't book anything at that time. Within the next few days I received two voice mails from Penske following up on my quote. Instead of booking on line I ended up calling their 800- number and the lady was kind enough to give me a discount. They had four different pick up locations in Phoenix and the most convenient pickup location turned out to be Sun Rentals, an independent Penske agent. Jay called me a couple of days before the scheduled pickup to confirm and I called him back. Jay was very professional and friendly and the truck was a almost new GMC that had a very smooth ride, but of course was a gas guzzler.
