Lovely Staff - but only 1x bed (in my opinion) that tans beyond your base... and it's the highest $$$ That said, I was a regular for 4-5 months, tanning about 3x per week.. I had asked to freeze my account, and then have not returned since May 2024. Upon recovering from some health issues, I discovered Total Tan tried running my debit card on file 23x over 2 months!! To go from being a regular, to that kind of harassment is uncalled for. Leave a dang message at the very least.... Don't keep going till you get lucky, you know? I never leave reviews but the experience left me feeling some kind of way. The results of the spray tan was great, that why I am leaving a 4 star. I don't usually tan, only for special occasions so I am very inexperienced (which I mentioned to the staff) . I felt like the staff was trying to upsale me, which is fine, but they were not really explaining what I was agreeing to, I was confused the entire time. I had to ask so many questions. Specially the young lady that was suppose to help me, I had to extract every piece of information out of her and her answers were so short and minimal that I was still so confused. I think they assume people know all the tan terminology, steps or what things are for and what they do. I had a red light room included in the package I purchased and I didn't even know it was included. I went in there thinking I was gonna pay 40 and I ended up paying 60 but I have no idea what I bought lol On top of it, I had to tip this young lady and I felt like she wasn't attentive at all. I don't think I am going to come back, I don't like feeling like I was annoying for not knowing what to do. I felt really uncomfortable and not welcomed. read more

I love this place!! I've been coming to Total Tan for about 2.5 years now & have nothing but great things to say about it. My primary reason for coming to Total Tan is to use their Beauty Angel, which has Red Light Therapy. I'm what they call in the industry a "redlighter," since I try to come in at least 3-4 times per week. I've been doing red light for the last 6 years & I don't even have to wear make up, since it keeps my skin so clear & glowing. it not only clears up my eczema & acne but also boosts collagen, reduces fine lines, and evens out skin tone. It's really amazing. If you haven't tried it yet, you really are missing out! The salon itself is super clean, has great deals & prices, lots of options for tanning & skin rejuvenation. Bought a groupon for this place so I could check it out and make sure it is something I am willing to commit to. Luckily for me, not only did I get a bargain deal for a month but I found my new tanning salon! The moment I walked in, I was greeted by a lovely young lady who was super kind and explained to be the process. She brought me to the room, guided me through the steps and gave me more info on all the other plans that they have to offer. The salon is clean, has various machine options and best of all has a great price for all of their services. The first time I came in here looking for a spray tan I was grateful for the younger white man at the front desk. He told me there was a promo (2 for $35) which I thought was very good! I obviously got a spray tan and saved the other one for later. The spray tan was OK. They had two types and I wish I went with the rapid color. Later comes around (a month or so?) and there are new workers and one of them was this buffer orange white man who told me that I got sold a false promo and there was nothing they could do for me. U can take advantage of holiday sales even if you aren't in town by buying online. Seriously, where can u get a Versaspa Pro spray tan for $24 (on sale right now, normally $35 I believe). Customer service is impeccable. Free parking up top, turn right on west knoll when heading west on Santa Monica Blvd and then take the first right up the alley once you pass Healthy Spot. Why go to some high-pressure sales corporate chain tanning place when you can support nice local business owners?! Fast-forward to now - I only do spray tans and the customer service is still great! I've tried several salons in the area and the one thing I can't stand is feeling like you have to be "cool" to tan! The BOGO UV tan deal is probably the best deal here. But I think it's only for first time customers. Very clean. Easy parking. Staff wasn't super helpful. Like, if you went in not really knowing what you wanted she wouldn't of been any help at all. && she didn't ask me how much time I wanted, just put me in for nine minutes on a twelve minute bed. Which is reasonable because I had only been tanning once recently, but still kind of rude to not even ask me how much time I wanted... Probably wouldn't return... Edit* I went a second time (because of the BOGO deal lol) and a different staff member was there who was much nicer and much more helpful. I wish I knew her name just to give her proper recognition for being so pleasant. She had brown hair and brown eyes though. I would be more likely to return after dealing with this staff member vs. the other one.&& I got super tan from using the bed in room 3 twice, two days between each session, nine minutes first session, twelve minutes second session and had only tanned once a week before at Ibiza in a similar bed for ten minutes. It's been about a week now and my tan really hasn't faded. I don't use lotions before though and just use moisturizing lotion after. read more

Just had the most amazing experience. I'm so white that when at the pool or beach I glow, I kid you not. I have a Hawaiian theme birthday party this weekend and I did not want to show up looking like Snow White wearing a hula skirt. (No offense Snow White your beautiful but our porcelain skin can use a sun kiss for special occasions) I called today to make an appointment and Natalie fit me right in. I just left now feeling sun kissed; and OMG it's beautiful! It looks so natural. I wasn't expecting the spray tan to look this amazing. The ladies who work there are super friendly. Brittany sprayed me; she was professional, attentive and super sweet. She made me feel very comfortable. I like to use this big blue bed that is located right behind the front-desk. It's just very unfortunate that I am able to hear everything that the staff says.. and it is ALWAYS, without fail just them talking shit about the clients. I was fine with that, until I heard what was being said about me. Total Tan--you are a TOTAL BUST. I seriously couldn't race home fast enough to write-up this review to warn anyone else on here thinking of making the same mistake to visit to your establishment. It's unfortunate that my experience happens to be the first review here, but had there been others, I'm sure they would have given the same warning. About half an hour ago, I went on Yelp to look for a tanning place closeby so I could get a couple base tans in before a cruise next week. Guess what? Total Tan popped up with a buy one get one free deal (on their Yelp listing)--PERFECT, I thought! I went to the website to check it out, and sure enough, it also confirmed it was giving new clients a buy 1 get 1 free into offer, so off I go to Total Tan, with a print out of the coupon (which was actually just the home page of the site). First of all, when I arrive, the parking lot is nearly empty (a rare sight in LA). I find this place to be on the second story of a totally sketchy office complex/shopping center, one building west of SM Blvd/La Cienega. The stairwell to the second floor is on the right-hand side of the building, and to reach it, you have to maneuver past a bunch of dead potted plants, old fish tanks (?!), and random debris outside of the walkway to get there. Not a good sign--but again--it's buy one get one free, and I'm already here, so whatever, not a big deal. As I make my way upstairs, I find this place at the far end of the walkway. Inside, the walls are covered with 80s-era photos of overly tan models, and behind the front desk, there's a glass cabinet with a bunch of old tanning lotions and oils that look like they've been siting there for possibly just as long. Needless to say, the entire place is empty, except for the older woman behind the desk who appeared to be managing the salon. According to the sign on the front desk, the pricing seemed to be on par with at least others in the area ($14 for the low-level tan, $30 for the premium). However, none of that mattered after I finished filling out my intro form... The woman behind the counter, while friendly enough at first, had asked me where I received my coupon for their establishment because she didn't notice an expiration date. I said, "On Yelp.com, it said to mention Yelp to get a buy 1 get 1 free offer, and just in case, I also visited your website, which is where this printed coupon is from and confirmed that. And she's right, there is no expiration date (online it just says, expires 7 days after printing, and I had just printed this out today). She said there wasn't a way for her to "enter the coupon into her system" so she tried calling the owner to find out what the deal was. She got ahold of the owner's son, but couldn't reach her. As a result, she said that I could pay FULL PRICE today for the first session, but she couldn't guarantee that I would receive the free tan my second time there, because--and this i quote VERBATIM, "THE OWNER WOULD KILL ME IF I GAVE SOMETHING LIKE THAT AWAY FOR FREE." What kind of a scary person runs this place?? It made me hesitate to even post this review. Umm...well seeing as how this is actually on your website RIGHT NOW, and being advertised as an ACTIVE offer on YELP.COM, I find that very hard to believe. I explained I only wanted to try out this place because of the coupon, and I don't feel I should be paying full price under any circumstances because this deal is being advertised right now. She then had the nerve to ask me if I wanted to come back tomorrow instead when the owner was there to see if she would honor the discount (??!!!). UMMM NO?!!! At this point, I was in shock and disbelief. NO, i will not be coming back, and that's ridiculous that your store would advertise something and not honor it. As I did feel a little bad for her (she seemed to be in great fear of the owner), I assured her it wasn't her fault (even though, really, she could've offered SOMETHING to make me feel like I hadn't just wasted my time there), and then, she actually replied to my half-hearted statement "you're right, it's not my fault. but you can come back tomorrow to see if we can give you the offer." WAAAAATT?????? FIrst of all, I make the effort to come to this place because an offer you are currently advertising online that you now may not offer--and as a CONSOLATION, you're offering me the opportunity to pay full price today with the "chance" that I could still get another free tan tomorrow?? No thank you. Total Tan, I don't know how long you expect to stay in business at this location, but if you keep this up, I highly doubt there'll be many others that will even give this place a chance like I did. It looks like you have another location in MDR--one that I will never try either. (*I also want to note it's obviously not Yelp's fault for having this discount advertised--as it was most likely a paid announcement, and Yelp discounts have worked EVERY other time I've used them). read more

man where do I even get started with this review.. So here goes: I wanted to try an infared heat wrap for the first time and maybe try my first tan because I had a photoshoot the next day. First off the staff was completely unfriendly. I've never set foot in a tanning salon.. I have no idea what to do or where to go or how the procedures work. I literally felt like an idiot for not knowing. That is NOT how a potential customer should feel like. So I did the infared wrap and after my time was up, no one came to take the bandages off of me. I was already sweating and extremely hot. I literally had to CALL their business number to have someone take the hot wraps around me. Seriously? Anyways, I wanted to get a tan after because whatever I was on a roll anyways. I asked them if its ok to get a tan after an infared. They said it would be fine. You should trust the professionals right? WRONG. 2 minutes in I got kind of nervous since I felt really hot. I got out and inspected my body.. Sure enough I had a heat rash on my booty and on my stomach where the bandages from the infared were extra hot. Mind you this is my first time ever getting a tan. I tried to stay calm and showed the girls who were confused and said they never saw something like that before but it should go away in an hour. I ran out and grabbed aloe vera and slathered it over myself praying it would go away. It didnt go away for a full 24 hours +! Anyways.. They put 1 tan credit on my account but there's no way in hell I would ever go back. I had an absolutely terrible experience at this salon with incompetent staff. Do. Not. Come. Here. read more
