I arrived about 10 minutes before about my appointment and was able to park right in front of the salon. I was greeted warmly by Jenna upon arrival when I checked in. My hair was in pretty rough shape, and Chelsea and I discussed what I requested ( at length) and gave me her recommendations as soon as I sat in her chair. What a lovely young lady she is. She did a remarkable job considering what she had to work with ( I had not done my hair for almost a full year). She is polite, professional, kind l, patient and competent. I will be back in July and look forward to building a relationship with her as my new stylist and Magnolia Jane as my new salon.

I deserve to be refunded, period. - This was my first visit to Southern Roots, and while I had high hopes based on the stylist's reviews, my experience unfortunately didn't go as expected. When I left the appointment, my hair had been curled, which can easily mask issues with color or placement. It wasn't until I straightened it two days later that I saw the actual results, and it was clear that the outcome didn't match the inspo photos I shared or the conversation we had beforehand. I reached out right away with photos, and while the stylist responded kindly and offered to fix it, I ultimately decided I wasn't comfortable with another appointment. I was then told the salon doesn't offer refunds, and instead, the owner, who I did not book with would be the one to do the correction. As a first-time client, this doesn't sit well with me. I don't feel comfortable going back, and I don't believe I should have to. I am not asking for anything beyond a fair resolution, and a refund would allow me to go elsewhere and have the issue addressed by someone of my choosing. Out of respect, I won't name the stylist - I don't believe this policy is hers, and I know she's done great work for many others. But I do think the salon's refund policy and how this situation was handled deserve to be shared. I'm including photos (the inspo pictures and my result) so others can make their own judgment. I was happy to wait in the comfy seating area and also, to check out the small clothing area featuring boutique-ish items. Myself and the other bridesmaid waited a bit longer to start our appointments. I was the last to be helped, waiting about 15-20 minutes after our appointment time. Nevada was a joy to talk to and completed my simple hairstyle in less than 30 minutes. What ended up disappointing me, was that she said she was going to make my curls tighter so they would fall loosely as the day went on for the wedding itself. Unfortunately, the curls were already loose by the time I left the salon. I had to have another bridesmaid re-curl them before pictures. However, the braids and bun stayed perfectly throughout the night. The bride struggled with her stylist not taking into account the more simple and natural look she asked for. At the beginning she was loving it, but by the end she was very unhappy with all of the extra pinning that was done and we had to partially redo her hair when we got to the wedding venue. I was told my hair would be $70 when I went to pay. When the bride got her hair done two days prior for her bridal portraits, she paid $65 for a much more intricate and time-consuming style. So I questioned the price, and after the receptionist came back she said there was a miscommunication and the wedding planner had worked out an agreement for $60 each, which I accepted. I still struggled with the fact that the other two girls got charged the same price for hair that took at least three times as long to do as mine. It makes more sense to me to price based on intricacy and time to complete. My hair is much shorter than the other two ladies so I had less options for what to do with my hair, and I wanted to keep it simple. I just have a hard time justifying $60 for a hairstyle that took so little time, and that I had to fix myself anyway. Overall, this is an aesthetically beautiful salon but they need to make some adjustments to policies and pay more attention to detail. 3.5 stars rounding to 4.
