I was referred to Dr. Toshi Hart by my pulmonologist at John Muir for treatment of my sleep apnea. I'm grateful to Dr. Hart for giving me relief from my sleep apnea without having to resort to a c-pap machine. Dr. Hart throughly explained my options and fitted me with a custom dental device similar to a retainer. After years of waking up multiple times a night, I can finally wake up feeling rested. I highly recommend Dr. Hart to anyone struggling with sleep apnea. My only regret is that I didn't consult with her sooner! read more

What can I say? Unbelievably spectacular experience! My Sleep Apnea was reaching a level where I could have stopped breathing while sleeping. It was also affecting nearly every other aspect of quality of life as well. Since seeing Toshi for my sleep apnea dental care needs, I have enjoyed a more productive life. I am even losing weight! Her passion for the treatment of sleep apnea and her level of knowledge is remarkable. She offers the latest technology and is genuinely vested in helping improve your quality of life. She very well may have SAVED MINE in the process. read more

Toshi hart is a complete rip off. She never paid me back after insurance paid for her. It has taken almost two years for me to get my money back from her and she never even did check up after paying her for vivos. I would give one star is that was possible! Worst breathing dentist read more

Dr. Hart and her staff are very professional and friendly, and were able to diagnose my problems with sleep apnea. They've been very flexible with my schedule and are always accommodating for me. read more

Not good with children I highly don't recommend this place unless you want unnecessary comments thrown at you about your child.

Parents be warned this dentist is only out for the money and she tries to tell you there is way more work needed for your children then there actually is. Even if you just want a routine preventative cleaning and check up it will cost you over $300 for one child!!! Unfortunately our dentist passed away so we were looking for a new dentist and happened to come here. She tried telling me both of my children were tongue tied and both upper and lower lip tied. And of course the cost to fix all the ties on both children was going to be over $1600. When we went for a second opinion elsewhere the dentist said neither one of my children were tongue or lip tied! Both of my children can reach their nose with their tongue so I already knew they weren't tongue tied by any means. Also she tried telling me my son had around 20 cavities and was going to cost me over $8,000 to fix after insurance. When we got our second opinion he had 10 and it cost me $2300 after our insurance. Thankfully we found an honest dentist out there with reasonable pricing to help my son out. Please take my story into consideration before coming here it will save you time and a lot of money. read more

We had a challenging dental procedure with Dr. Hart requiring general anesthesia with the the pediatric anesthesiologist Dr Hart teams with. Despite living 60 miles from her office, we decided to go to Dr. Hart due to problems we had with a local "great kids dentist". He was not very good but that is another review. We decided to make the trek to Dr. Hart's office for the procedure and we were pleased with the experience. In addition to the exemplary professionalism exhibited by Dr. Hart and the anesthesiologist, we noted the entire staff's conscientious attitude towards our needs. That is a sign of a well managed office and a staff in-line with the Doctor's approach. We were very nervous about the whole process, and who wouldn't be. Its not a natural or common occurrence to see your little one put under the gas for a procedure, but I can attest to the excellent care we experienced the entire time we were there. Specifically, we were given frequent updates on my son's condition, and during the last phase, staff stayed with us, guiding us through the recovery phase at every step. That means a lot. You can read a paper write-up telling you that when you child comes out of the procedure certain things will happen...to experience them first hand while they are in your arms is an entirely different experience altogether. To have a staff member there, with you, explaining everything and re-assuring you at every step is the very definition of excellent care. They could have left us alone. They could have just told us what would happen. Recognizing our anxiety and being at our side meant a lot. With respect to the actual procedures, we were given frequent, detailed updates and options. Dr. Hart was very succinct and professional. I would recommend Dr. Hart to my friends. This was not the first time we have been to Dr. Hart. We have had other pediatric dental procedures with her (however, none that required general anesthesia); she is a very good doctor and a very well run office. The last thing I would mention is I had a lot of questions during this process, with many involving billing and insurance, and each staff member was attentive to our needs/questions and displayed a willingness to seek out the correct answer at each phase/step. That also means a lot because you can have a good doctor but a dippy staff who don't understand PPOs and dual coverages. This was not the case. Kudos to you Dr. Hart. read more

Great customer service, and the staff is great with kids! There's a play area in the waiting room, and the kids can watch TV screens above them while they're getting work done. They let parents go sit in the back with their kids which I especially appreciate. I go with 3 kids and they are good at helping me get them all checked out. read more

My daughter went to see Dr. Hart and she left left crying. Not a good experience! Story changed from 7 cavities to 3 in the matter if a minute and a list of high $ add ons. Needless to say, not returning. UPDATE: After this visit (the next day) my wife took our daughter to a reputable dentist here in Modesto for a second opinion. After a thorough examination there were NO CAVITIES! Parents beware!!! read more

I called to make an appointment for a new patient and asked if they take my insurance, since it changed this year. They lady on the phone was really rude and she said that I would have to call my insurance to verify if their office takes my insurance, I asked her do you do that she said no because, they take a long time to answer. read more

I took my child to Dr Toshi Hart because my child had a cavity, and I wanted the work to be done by a pediatric dentist. My first impression was a very nice office, large play house in the waiting room for kids that are waiting to play. The assistant brought us back and took x-rays, very nice woman. However, when Dr. Hart entered into the exam room it was a different experience. She came off a bit rude while,I found out my child had more than one cavity. I was really interested to find the least invasive solution to fixing my child's teeth. I was given a few options of nitrous oxide and filling in office or using general anesthesia. As a pediatric registered nurse I am very hesitant on putting my child under general anesthesia for there are great risks in doing so, and I have encountered those risks in my profession. Dr. Hart was pushing for the general anesthesia saying he probably can't do the nitrous oxide. I opted to try the nitrous oxide. I brought my child in for the filling appointment and was started on the nitrous. My child was very uncomfortable with it on his nose but did keep it on for about 15 minutes. Dr. Hart walked in, was just about to start giving Novocain and my child slightly moved his head. She stopped said she couldn't do it and walked out. I felt this was highly unprofessional. She didn't try or give him a chance. A professional that is certified in pediatric dentistry should know how to properly treat and deal with children. I find it very sad that they just want to put children under general anesthesia just so they don't have to deal with them. Granted I know special needs children are a different circumstance, my child is not special needs. I was actually shocked that she walked out the way that she did. I took my child to other pediatric dentist and had his teeth fixed without any nitrous oxide or general anesthesia. I would not recommend this office to parents of children needing dental work. Do your homework on risks of general anesthesia it's not something to take lightly. There are pediatric dentist out there whom can and will perform the needed procedures without any anesthesia. read more

Scheduling an appointment: Mediocre...a few of the front office staff have been rude at times (I think her name was Tina???) Anyway, I had been searching high & low for a great pediatric dentist. They aren't easy to find! I have great insurance, so that wasn't even an issue. Dr. Hart was recommended by another dentist so I gave her a try. Office visit: The front staff were good. Not overly nice or rude. We didn't have to wait long in the waiting room, which is always a plus with kids! Dr. Hart was very nice! I have nothing but great things to say about her as a dentist. She was great with my special needs daughter and was very thorough in making sure I understood everything. I also had to call her on the weekend once because my daughter was complaining of pain and had developed an abscess. Dr. Hart was quick to call back, treated my daughter and was able to follow up when the office reopened. Prices & insurance authorization: Her prices are OUTRAGEOUS!!!!! The surgery ended up costing us $4000.00 LESS by going to First Step Dental. Also, we would have had to wait 2 months for a surgery appointment with Dr. Hart. I ended up having to cancel with Dr. Hart and take my daughter to FSD instead because she developed an abscess from waiting too long. I'm so happy I did! Dr. Hart is a great doctor and her office is nice. Unfortunately, her front office staff are just ok, her prices are high and her appointments are too far out. read more

I took my child there and they wanted to put him to sleep to do work on I refused and said he will get a tooth infection that will kill him.

I wish I would have read these reviews before trying out this office for my children. My daughter had to have several fillings, one of which was considered a baby root canal (I found out later since they didn't initially call it a root canal), and 3 total extractions. During the most recent extraction, she also had two fillings done at the same time. This was extensive treatment and she was given the nitrous oxide but was still extremely scared and uncomfortable. The tooth eventually came out and the roots were very long and wild looking. The Dentist told me AFTER that he thought it would be a difficult extraction and he wasn't sure if he could do it. It took us 2 1/2 hours and my daughter was shaking through most of it (10 years old). After the tooth was out, there was a lot of blood. She was very woozy and had lots of gauze in her mouth. When I was paying the bill, she went outside for a moment. I came out and she was on the ground spitting up blood. I hurried back into the office to get more gauze and we left immediately so she could rest. The office calls me while we're in the car to scold me about us leaving blood and gauze on the ground outside their front door. I didn't even realize there was anything on the ground. If I wasn't so distracted by taking care of her, I would have picked it up. I mean...obvisouly that wasn't done on purpose. This was a traumatizing event. I haven't taken her to the dentist because she is terrified. This is the problem because now she is already having pain again. My daughter has good habits for brushing and flossing, but she always seems to end up with another cavity. Unfortunately, almost all of her visits have been tough. When we first came to Dr. Hart's office I was asked for the records of her last dentist. I said I didn't remember the name and admitted we had been to several different dentists because of insurance changes and bad experiences. I tried to explain to them that she has had trouble with her teeth regardless of our brushing habits. The front office lady made it her mission to explain to me why I should stick to one dentist. Almost threatening me that if we were to become patients of their office, we needed to commit to them. I feel like she was just being judgemental like we don't take care of our kid's teeth. After the initial appointment, they called me to schedule upcoming appointments repeatedly - even as early as 8am and I had to tell them I was getting my kids ready for school and to please not call me that early. I made it clear I would schedule my next appointment when I was ready and could afford the co-payments. We spent over $1500 between my two kids and we were brand new patients. No incentive at all for being new, like free x-rays or anything. We paid all the bills and felt harassed by the constant "reminders" to come back in for more treatment. This is not as big of a deal, but worth mentioning...when my daughter was finally done with her extraction she got the token for the ball machine. Two balls came out and they insisted on us giving them one of the balls back saying the machine was broken. I asked if I could just keep the other ball for my son who was also a patient and at home. They said no. Nice...a grand later and no extra ball was allowed. They also keep a dog in a cage in the office. Really?? For an office that seems to be all about rules and regulations and not the satisfaction of their patients, seems a little unsanitary. I'm still waiting for my email of all the bills we've already paid. They called me over and over again to set up the last fillings for my son, but when I ask for a list of the treatment plan and past paid invoices so I could really add up how much I've spent with them, no one has the time. Very disappointed and I intend to let the dentist know how their office has treated us. We are looking for a new dentist as well. read more

We were referred to Dr Hart because our families dentist retired and the new dentist doesn't usually treat pediatric patients and our son had a couple fillings that needed to be treated. Initial visit staff seemed friendly but with in 5 minutes of being there I was getting the hard sell for a product to help my son stop being a mouth breather. I just ignored it thinking I just need this procedure done. The doctor came in and gave me the hard sell as well. She came off as condescending and a bit rude. At that moment I know I won't be switching my kids over to her but need this procedure. Anyway after consultation I made appointment to come back for procedure a month later. (I understand during these times there is limitations on how many patients a dr can see). Came back today and they set my son up on the nitrous and he started crying cause he was scared. I had to ask the assistant to back off and give me a moment to try and soothe my child. I got him to relax and they put the mask back on. The doctor came in and she just doesn't seem to offer any sympathy or try to soothe my child or offer real explanation of what she's doing. So they barely get started and my son starts crying again and she says that they're gonna stop and that he'll have to be put under for procedure. At this point I haven't said anything. Then she proceeded to give me a lecture without any prompting about how I'm welcome to go somewhere else but no one else has the equipment that she has and that if I do decide to go elsewhere that I may not be welcome back to her practice because she is limiting who she takes on like I should be grateful that she would be willing to take on my poor family. Long story short. The cost is not the problem. The lack of tact and empathy is what I take issue with. At no time did she pretend to care about my kid as a person and was only worried about selling me some dental equipment that had nothing really to do with why I was there. I will look elsewhere for a dentist that seems a little more patient oriented. read more

How can anyone who clearly dislikes children This much want to be a pediatric dentist. This woman is a nightmare for both kids and adults. She is insulting rude, obnoxious and condescending. Our son has been with Dr. Hart for as long as he has needed dental care. She has always been thorough with her care of our son's teeth and the explanation needed when problems arose. In one instance, our son required an extraction of a baby tooth. Dr. Hart was extremely professional and made all of us feel safe and calm before and during the procedure. Dr. Hart was helpful in coordinating with our orthodontist, and was able to remove any staining that had occurred due to his braces. The waiting room is friendly and inviting. Dr. Hart and her team take great care to reduce the anxiety of going to the dentist. My son's favorite part was/is getting to play video games before his appointment. She has video screens attached to the ceiling so patients can watch movies during the procedures. My son commented on the staff: "They are all super-super friendly!" read more

We have been going to Dr. Hart for two years now and every experience has been great. The women at the front desk are very personable. All of the hygienists are very nice and make the process so much easier for your child. Dr. Hart is very gentle and always very thorough. If there is ever an emergency, they always get us in immediately. I highly recommend this dental office to take your child to. Another perk is the fish theme, balloons, and disney movies which also make your kids want to go to the dentist. My family always enjoys our semi annual visits to Dr. Hart. read more

I took both of my children here a few years ago loved it so my I referred all my family and friends. She performed a root canal on my daughter and suggested we put her under to perform this 3000 later she had a crown, which fell out 1 year later. Then my sons turn he had 6 cavities she suggested sedation and restraint, we did she only was able to complete 1/2 the procedure and told me that she had never had a child get out of the restraint before and even told my son if you dont hold still your going to give yourself a bloody nose. That was enough my husband carried my son out and I talked with her and she pushed all blame on my 5 yr. old. Both my kids to this day are terrified of the dentist. Needless to say we have never been back. read more

Hardly ever do I give a business or a practice a low rating but I finally got to the end of my rope with my recent visits to this office, for my children. Unfortunately, some of the procedures and recommendations they make are 1. not necessary, 2. based strictly on their newfound technology and the sales pitch to sell it, 3. outrageously unaffordable prices for all types of insurance, and 4. made mostly by the assistants there and not by the actual dentist, without further explanation. I finally moved my children to my own personal dentist that my husband and I go to and one of my children has already had their initial visit and it was determined that he did NOT have any cavities which is what Toshi Hart stated and that he also did NOT need a surgery that she was recommending either. Incredible! I only deal with honest businesses and individuals. Being in sales myself, I understand the entire process of selling and have done this for 24 years of my career. The difference is that I don't gouge my customers or make ridiculous and unnecessary recommendations and I look out for my customers, to provide them the finest customer experience. This has materialized into having the longest running business partnerships over the years and loyal customers. The minute you start to employ some of Toshi Hart's practices, it is guaranteed you will lose respectable customers. read more
