It's 2 blocks west of the Landmark Theater on Main Street, has a small parking lot, but there's some metered street parking. We were seeing a show at 7:30 PM, so had a reservation for 6:00 PM, but we didn't need it (on this Thursday). It's a small-medium sized restaurant. Service from both our waiter and the owner ("Freddie") was in good spirits. We told them we had a show at 7:30. They had nice choices of wine by the glass (including Montepulciano & Chianti) and beers. Two of my buddies ordered bourbon and vodka. We sat at a round table in a corner by the front window and above us was a chalk board with the special dishes of the day. There was a complimentary Italian bread basket with butter. I skipped appetizers and ordered the Veal Romano (medallions with chopped tomatoes & artichokes in a lemon, white wine & garlic sauce, that came with a side of spinach (oil and garlic sauce) (other side choices were escarole, broccoli or pasta). Delicious - well cooked. On the low side of moderately priced. Bathroom was clean. We were out by 7:10 ... perfect. I'll be back. read more

Full house for a fabulous restaurant week menu! 3 course meal with generous full dinner plus a regular coffee, cappuccino or espresso for $44 is a deal and then some especially when the food is delicious and everyone from the welcoming owner Freddie to all of his amazing wait staff make you feel the love from the minute you come in the front door till the moment you leave with full bellies and a handshake and a hug from Freddie. We've had pretty much everything on the regular menu and the specials menu to boot! Some of our repeat orders are the stuffed artichoke, baked clams oreganata, fried calamari and mozzarella carrozza for apps! For mains their fish selections are always fresh and beautifully prepared, Gnocchi Bolognese is unctuous, Risotto al Funghi is perfectly all dente and creamy, the breaded veal with a a fresh arugula and cherry tomato salad is divine. This is a neighborhood staple and a family favorite for all in this town. You are remembered, your order is remembered and you are missed if you don't come by for a time. The owner is so generous and kind that one afternoon a group of neighborhood kids were walking by and said hello and announced that it was one of their birthdays. Freddie ushered them into his place and fed them all a birthday lunch on the house. And that is one of the many reasons why Toscanini's is still going strong 19 years and counting. read more

This is our favorite Italian restaurant in the area. We would go there more often, but it's kind of expensive for us. The food and wine is always outstanding. They take great care with my allergies and can substitute, say, olive oil for butter and it still tastes great. The owner is really funny and friendly. They have DF sorbetto for dessert that is delicious. Usually it's not super crowded, unless you go on a weekend during some months. It's nice in the summer. They always have a lot of yummy specials, and their GF pasta is the best I've had anywhere. read more

I came in from out of state to celebrate a big birthday. Toscanini is on the smaller side and very cozy and intimate. The owner is onsite helping, running food and offering recommendations. We ordered fried zucchini and antipasto for appetizers and all was good. Dinners were ordered individually off of the menu. Everyone liked their entree. Mine was chicken Diana and it was with gluten free pasta. It was good but could have used a bit more flavor. Portion size was generous. I also ordered a Red sangria and it was an inexpensive house wine with no fruit. Definitely not something I'd order again. Great ambiance for personalized service and small town feel. Parking is on street which is paid parking until 5pm. We parked about a block away. My aunt and uncle love it there and will be back again soon. read more

The service is amazing. So nice and helpful. Totally family run. You can have your meal catered to your needs! Fresh and hot bread is offered upon viewing the menu! The place looks dated but the atmosphere is nice. A bit surprised that with a pizza oven, there's no pizza on menu. However, all appetizers and entrees were so delicious. We haven't been to Toscanini for a long time since it was a regular for us. Yesterday we decided to dine there and it hasn't lost it touch. We had Clams Oregano,,wow! and the Brodo to dunk the bread in was so delicious. Cesare salad was large, and perfect. Frutte di mare over pasta was unbelievable, as was the Scampi marinara. Freddy came in just before we were leaving, always the perfect host. We were happy to see him and catch up a bit. The prices continue to be very fair considering all the increase all over in a comfortable setting. Got to get back, it is worth the trip. read more

I went to this establishment with my husband and friends, for Restaurant week. The ambiance was adequate, a little run down, however, the service and the food were excellent. We decided to order off of the regular menu, pasta with vegetables and sausage and chicken with eggplant and cheese, which came with a side of escarole. We ordered a glass of wine that had a good amount in it so we were able to share it. For dessert we had a cheesecake. Our friends ordered off of the Restaurant week menu and loved their dishes as well. We weren't rushed so we stayed a little longer than usual. We're definitely returning. read more

We had a delicious meal before a show we were seeing a couple if blocks away. As soon as we walked in we felt welcome. The owner & the waiter both treated us almost like family. Joking and talking comfortably with us. They put in our order so we would be late for the show. We had fried calamari which was crispy and delicious with a garlicky tomato sauce for dipping. I had the gnocchi and my husband the manicotti. Both perfectly cooked. Took leftovers home and if possible it tasted even better the next day. I really like this restaurant and the owner. But we went on Wednesday 07/10/24 and it was weird. We arrived at 5 were sat by a young girl. The place was empty. Sat there for 20 minutes and no communication. We decided to leave. Told her we would come back another time and she said ok. Not sure what's going on. read more

Incredible. We were recommended by our friends.for our rehearsal dinner. We met with the owner and staff of Toscanini a few months before the wedding and not only felt like cherished guests, but like family. This spot has become special to us and we have gone a few times since. Their energy and warmth is so palpable and they treated all 30 or so of us like family during the rehearsal dinner itself. Had dinner here in early July & ordered Pasta Primavera with Vegetables. Waiter said the sauce was a light garlic & oil with fresh vegetables which was exactly what I was hoping for. What arrived at my table was penne pasta served with a arrangement of FROZEN vegetables: tiny stalks of broccoli (no florets), miniature chunks of peas & carrots (exactly what comes from frozen packages). How difficult is it to use fresh vegetables? No decent Italian chef or restaurant owner would pass this dish off as 'good Italian food'. Shameful. This restaurant needs to update their menu if they're unable to serve fresh food. read more

Our family had a repast there on 9/13. The owner and the staff could not have been nicer. The food was delicious - they even catered to my cousin, who is a vegetarian. Absolutely Amazing!! They did not have the wine I wanted so they walked across the street to the liquor store and got some. The appetizers were amazing. You must get the artichoke! I just ordered a margarita pizza and stuffed artichoke from this restaurant as the reviews were mostly positive. Unfortunately, the pizza dough was not cooked. The pizza had so much cheese on it and very little sauce - not as pictured online. The stuffed artichoke was dripping with oil. I am very disappointed. read more

A lovely restaurant in Port Washington with friendly service, delicious food, and a comfortable yet "formal" atmosphere. My friends and I all had the fish special which was very flavorful. We loved that they did not rush us out of the restaurant giving us all of the time we wanted to talk and laugh. The waiter was very helpful including giving us specific instructions on how to eat a stuffed artichoke. The host has a good sense of humor. A great overall dining experience. read more
