Found this little place in Greenvale-EastHills area off of 25a and Glen Cove road.the corner called Centro Cucina - center or heart of- kitchen - . It's across the street from Matress Firm on the west side. It shares a parking lot with a bar grill called barefoot peddler. So, be careful where you park. I'm told they've been there 18 years. It's a cozy little casual local restaurant. It has a bar as well. They serve fresh made foods, fish, lobster and oh , yes, dessert. Their soup of the day was a delicious Lentil. The salad was fresh with a good dressing. The Grandmas cake recipe was light and lemony. The waiter came and asked if I was finished with the soup when I started eating the salad with fresh pears. I told him- nope. I found it so tasty that I finished it. A place to go again. read more

We enjoy dining at restaurants we have never dined, and especially old school Italian eateries. Our friends recommended Centro Cucina since they have had enjoyable experiences there in the past. The restaurant has valet parking, for a particularly good reason, parking on your own is impossible. Centro Cucina has outdoor dining along with a casual, unassuming dining room. From what I read, the restaurant was started by father and son, Antonio, and Giuseppe. The owners are direct as soon as you walk into the restaurant, always attentive to their customers. I found that the noise level can be high in the dining room at times. But overall, it was not a total distraction. We ordered appetizers, Zucchini flowers and grilled octopus. I thought the octopus was tender and tasty. The zucchini flowers were okay. However, not everyone does not have similar tastes in food. For the entrée's we ordered a shrimp dish that was requested by one of our parties, and the dover sole. Overall, our dining experience was delicious, delightful, pleasant, enjoyable, and appealing, we will most certainly return soon. read more

How sad of an experience, the place is a dump and filthy. The food resembles the Olive Garden but tastes worse. situated in a small strip mall, with zero atmosphere. It's also way overpriced. We went specifically for brick oven pizza. We sat outside under their tent, and we ordered 2 pizzas, the Peppino and Bisacquino. They are 12" pies and not inexpensive. The average price is 23+. So lets start wirh the Peppino. The toppings were minimal, the sausage so chewy, and fatty, you couldnt chew it. It was also very dry. But it was edible compared to the other pizza. The description for the Biscacquino, says fried eggplant, and ricotta salata....well the eggplant was mushy and rubbery and actually looked like mushrooms. The pizza was basically just red sauce, that dried out when it was cooked. NO CHEESE, just a sprinkle of shredded ricotta salata in thw center. And of course the mushy eggplant pieces. It was basically INEDIBLE. When we showed our disappointment, and asked about how the pizza wasnt what the descriotion said, the server walked away, and ignored us for the remainder of our meal. For real? But the kicker was, when we asked for the check, he asked us if we wanted to take the pizza home? Lol...we barely ate 1 slice, and pushed it iff to the side....see pic. I give 2 stars because the service is great- very kind people. But the food is lackluster, the pasta is okay but there are plenty of places nearby with much better. The pizza was fine but for a 12 inch 20+ dollar pie, it didn't quite meet the mark. The chicken dish I ordered had rubbery chicken which is not something I expect from a place with these price points. For these price points, customers need better quality food. I recommend going elsewhere for Italian especially on LI where we have a plethora of options in this department. I will not be visiting again read more

This tiny cafe has some nice paninis to choose from for a light lunch. We all enjoyed our sandwiches and wraps. Unfortunately, my husband said that his chicken was a bit too dry and the service was very slow for such a small restaurant. If you have time for a leisurely lunch, then I recommend one of the veggie paninis on the whole wheat foccacia bread. read more

I really like this place. It has a very comfortable feel to it. The food is great! The service is good too. I had the chicken Parm when I went last time. It was delicious! That pizza in the picture I attached is what one of my friends got. Everyone else enjoyed their food too. This is one of my favorite Italian restaurants. I always love coming here. The only downside is that the parking isn't the best. Also, you may not be happy if you're uncomfortable being close to other peoples tables. Otherwise, definitely go and give this place a try! This was the WORST OF THE WORST . The owner was hanging out not even helping when the staff was a disaster we had the older italian man with white hair and glasses and an accent . What a klown . he did not pay any attention to us it took 45 minutes to order less than average food. he was very rude and when he was bringing over our dishes he decided to stop at the table next to us while holding our food to talk to the table next to us and kept talking while holding our food over our food for 12 minutes till he decided to put it down. I ordered the pasta special and it tasted sour . My wife ordered the chicken dish that was doused in salt completely unedible. We were a party of 4 and arrived early, around 6:30. Our waiter was warm and friendly and the staff was very attentive to our every need. A basket of toasted bread with some pureed mixed vegetables was served after we sat down and ordered our beverages. We shared Cheese Stuffed Zucchini Flowers for an appetizer (4 pieces). For dinner our grandson had Chicken Parmesan with Spaghetti,and we shared a homemade Fettuccine with Mushrooms and Lobster bits throughout. One of us had Pappardelle with a Marinara Sauce (not on the menu) and we also shared a side of Steamed Broccoli. Centro Cucina has a really nice atmosphere and the portions are generous. All of the food was was prepared to perfection! Be prepared to spend in the $$$ category, yelp incorrectly shows only $$. The food, service and atmosphere are definitely worth it. This is one of the few places I've been to recently where the noise level allows for easy conversation. We left a little after 8:00 pm and the place was packed. I work in the area and have been coming here for years. Had another very pleasurable experience last night. In the summer I like to get the grilled seafood salad with lemon, tender, lightly dressed with lemon and olive oil and very fresh. Paired with an Italian white wine makes for a very nice lunch or lite dinner, since they always bring out hot crusty bread and spread. The salads are quite large and can easily be shared. I usually get the Centro salad or tri colore. Real shaved parmaggiano though sometimes could use a little more flavor for my taste as they dress the salads very lightly, but you can adjust to your own taste as there is always olive oil, vinegar, salt & pepper on the table. I've had both their pizza and panini. Very nice size, generous toppings. And last night I got a side of the meatballs (the regular meatballs, not the minis), a good mix of meat, soft, not hard like golf balls. They have great flavor and the sauce is excellent (just like Grandmas). The owner is always very accommodating and the staff attentive. At least to me! I feel like family when I eat here; maybe that's because they are from my Grandmother's hometown of Bisacquino, Sicilia! Ok, so maybe I'm a little bias..? Oh, And when they bring you the check you get a little plate of homemade biscotti. So nice. You'll leave full, content, and it won't break your budget as it's priced very reasonably. Starting from the warm welcome of father and son to the attentive service. The food was outstanding. The pizza was true Napoli style. For appetizer we had grilled baby polpo, stuffed zucchini flowers and baby artichokes drizzled with the right amount of truffle oil. We then shared a Cesar salad perfect dressing good for sharing. For main course I had Dover sole it was cooked to perfection, flavor was perfection definitely worth the money. My husband ordered tiger shrimp and langostino. My family and I have been here numerous times over the past several years, despite the 20 minute drive. Have never had a bad meal here - it always ranges between very good to outstanding. Have brought many friends over the years and all have enjoyed their meals thoroughly. Relaxed atmosphere. Stick to the seafood here and you can't go wrong. The octopus and seafood salad are stand outs. Worth the price! Octopus is tender and flavorful. Charred but not burn't! Close your eyes and you are in the amalfi coast....Wines are moderatly priced. Stick with the italians. Service is attentive. Noise level is high...but who cares! We had dinner for the first time in this small, tucked away place in the corner. It is huge on flavor and is so delicious I almost don't want to tell you how amazing the bronzino is, or the homemade pasta, or the grilled octopus appetizer, or the veal chop, or the warm sabingone over strawberries! The staff is very attentive. I must try the lunch next week to see if it's as great as dinner. Although the special mozzarella only available on Saturday night, flown in from Italy, will be missed.
