We enjoy dining at restaurants we have never dined, and especially old school Italian eateries. Our friends recommended Centro Cucina since they have had enjoyable experiences there in the past. The restaurant has valet parking, for a particularly good reason, parking on your own is impossible. Centro Cucina has outdoor dining along with a casual, unassuming dining room. From what I read, the restaurant was started by father and son, Antonio, and Giuseppe. The owners are direct as soon as you walk into the restaurant, always attentive to their customers. I found that the noise level can be high in the dining room at times. But overall, it was not a total distraction. We ordered appetizers, Zucchini flowers and grilled octopus. I thought the octopus was tender and tasty. The zucchini flowers were okay. However, not everyone does not have similar tastes in food. For the entrée's we ordered a shrimp dish that was requested by one of our parties, and the dover sole. Overall, our dining experience was delicious, delightful, pleasant, enjoyable, and appealing, we will most certainly return soon.

    The fried eggplant pizza...inedible

We went specifically for brick oven pizza. We sat outside under their tent, and we ordered 2 pizzas, the Peppino and Bisacquino. They are 12" pies and not inexpensive. The average price is 23+. So lets start wirh the Peppino. The toppings were minimal, the sausage so chewy, and fatty, you couldnt chew it. It was also very dry. But it was edible compared to the other pizza. The description for the Biscacquino, says fried eggplant, and ricotta salata....well the eggplant was mushy and rubbery and actually looked like mushrooms. The pizza was basically just red sauce, that dried out when it was cooked. NO CHEESE, just a sprinkle of shredded ricotta salata in thw center. And of course the mushy eggplant pieces. It was basically INEDIBLE. When we showed our disappointment, and asked about how the pizza wasnt what the descriotion said, the server walked away, and ignored us for the remainder of our meal. For real? But the kicker was, when we asked for the check, he asked us if we wanted to take the pizza home? Lol...we barely ate 1 slice, and pushed it iff to the side....see pic. So besides the awful brick oven pizza, the service was terrible. Stay away...there are better places to eat!

I ordered a panini to go for my husband, there was barely any meet or cheese on his panini! The food is always good and the owner is very nice, but this panini should never have left the kitchen!!!

This tiny cafe has some nice paninis to choose from for a light lunch. We all enjoyed our sandwiches and wraps. Unfortunately, my husband said that his chicken was a bit too dry and the service was very slow for such a small restaurant. If you have time for a leisurely lunch, then I recommend one of the veggie paninis on the whole wheat foccacia bread.

I really like this place. It has a very comfortable feel to it. The food is great! The service is good too. I had the chicken Parm when I went last time. It was delicious! That pizza in the picture I attached is what one of my friends got. Everyone else enjoyed their food too. This is one of my favorite Italian restaurants. I always love coming here. The only downside is that the parking isn't the best. Also, you may not be happy if you're uncomfortable being close to other peoples tables. Otherwise, definitely go and give this place a try! Such good food!

This restaurant is overpriced and their take out doesn't travel well. I ordered the red snapper, which was sub par. I won't go back.

Finding a good "specialty slice" is much harder than you'd think. Since Joannes Gourmet in Roslyn closed, I've honestly been unable to find one until this evening. I ordered Marinara's Buffalo Chicken and BBQ Chicken slices and they were delicious. The dough which I'll reference as "the bread" was really good on both slices. The slices held strong when folded and there was nice spotting on the bottom of the slices adding to the pizza's overall character/flavor. The chicken on both slices were tender, not hard as it is often at other pizza shops. The sauces used were great and not over powering. The buffalo slice gave you that nice wing sauce flavor without abrasive heat. Really nice job Marinara! I also tried the burnt broccoli which was delicious. Each piece had the perfect amount of char and the right amount of crunch. Once again great job Marinara. I doordashed the order tonight, but I've got the feeling that when I visit in person and try in the restaurant, I'm going to enjoy it all even more. I highly recommend Marinara!

Ok, so I call Marinara's and they say "oh yeah, the rest of your order is on top of the stove to stay warm". "Ok but isn't it your responsibility to give the door dash driver my entire order?" I ask. I get put on hold. "We can give you a store credit", I'm told. Sure, like I'm going to order from you again! No thanks! Crap customer service and what part of the order I did get, spaghetti with obviously canned un-doctored sauce and over-cooked wings tasted like garbage. Would not recommend. Way better places out there with better food & service!

We stayed in the bar area as that takes up the majority of the interior; there are, however, some booths and a separate room with tables. Decor was simple - typical bar/pub aesthetics. It wasn't busy at all when we arrived so we had our choice of seats which was nice. The menu was more extensive than I expected. There's a selection of apps, sandwiches, salads, pizzas, soups, fajitas, and burgers - with several sections having a "make your own" option. I decided to go with a sandwich - specifically, the chicken pesto was speaking to me. This was grilled chicken with mozz, pesto sauce, and roasted red peppers on a roll. The sandwich was good - flavorful with all the components marrying well together. The bread was also soft enough that it broke through my bites; I was concerned being a hard roll that it would be too tough, but the consistency was perfect. I opted for tots instead of fries on the side which were good as well. Service was good - our server was friendly and food came out at a good pace. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised with the Barefoot Peddler. The food was tasty, and I wouldn't hesitate to return if I'm in the area again.

The restaurant, Gatsby's Landing, draws its name from the romantic nostalgia of The Great Gatsby. Situated near the Long Island Sound and Roslyn Pond, the setting offered a beautiful waterfront ambiance. My wife opted for the Baby Roasted Beets Salad, Salmon, and Crème Brûlée, while I chose the Lobster Bisque, Squid Ink Tonnarelli, and Tiramisu. The menu highlights their commitment to fresh, organic, and locally sourced ingredients - a promise they certainly delivered on. The dishes were both delicious and generously portioned. It was clear the kitchen doesn't skimp on quality; for instance, the lobster bisque was loaded with tender lobster meat, the squid ink tonnarelli featured an abundance of blue crab, and the salmon was a substantial, thick-cut fillet. The chef clearly possesses a mastery of technique, knowing exactly how to pair garnishes and balance flavors in perfect harmony. Furthermore, the waitstaff was both diligent and courteous. We can see why this establishment is so popular--the combination of exceptional cuisine, attentive service, and the serene lake views is hard to beat. However, there is one area for improvement: the restaurant should consider replacing their current chipped plates with larger, more elegant dinnerware. High-quality presentation would better reflect the dignity and caliber of the food they serve.
