I can't tell you how many times we pass Tortilleria Mixteca and say we need to go, so after our pedicure appointment in the same center, the smell pulled us around the corner after. You walk in the store and it becomes overwhelming on how to order, for a first time customer. My daughter and I stood out of line to watch the pro's go through the line. We were in front of the meat station, WOW! So many choices, so we got the carne asada, pollo and chorizo. These items were put on a scale for weight, we didn't know but it's ok the grill draws everyone in. Added rice and took it home and demolished half with plenty of leftovers. The carne asada was so good, heck everything was good. We will definitely go back. Mad at ourselves for the times we kept driving by so now we have a new spot. No pictures this time. read more

Food was good but were limited options. My family and I sat in the food area on the side of the restaurant. Our server was not friendly, she's the one with glasses. When we sat we did not even get a hello or greeting from her just started listing a bunch of drinks and asked which one we wanted. Throughout the whole time we were there she never checked up on us. We were a party of 9, even to the point where she didn't ask half of our party what they wanted to drink had to grab their own drinks from the other side of the restaurant not sure if it was because they came 5 mins later than we did but they sat next to us, ridiculous. While in the area and seeking an interesting and different breakfast on a weekday morning, I stopped in for a breakfast burrito. The awesome lady behind the counter told me they didn't really have breakfast burritos, but they had several styles of amazing breakfasts already made, which they server with a stack of tortillas, so I opted for the chorizo huevos option. She gave me a couple sides of their green sauce to go with it. I sat in the truck, opened the chorizo and it smelled and looked great! The tortillas were outstanding (corn) and then the salsa - unbelievable!!! I made a taco, poured the salsa on top and took a bite and it was authentic and GREAT! The flavors were on-point and heat was perfect and even though they make these chorizo breakfasts in advance, they clearly don't sit in the warmer long, because it was fresh and piping hot! I could have easily made 5 breakfast tacos with all the chorizo and huevo plus the corn tortillas they gave! Such a fantastic, authentic Mexican breakfast! I'll definitely come back!! read more

I am only rating my tortilla that was hot and fresh when I bought it. They got confused though on what I ordered , which was carne asada - they gave me a very fatty fried pork. My stomach aches after I ate a little bit. I probably will change my review later on, when I try their chicken - they were out of the rotisserie. read more

My fist time having Mexican food in Virginia. I had the chicken, rice and beans. The food was delicious but I was not impressed with the prices. I also bought a few Mexican items and bread. The bread was $9 for 6 pieces, the rice was $10 for a pint, and the chicken was per piece. This place was a too overpriced but the food was good. I will not be returning. They also don't give you salsa unless you self for it. read more

To start off pulling up to the place smelled soooo good. You get that smell of the BBQ pit and the food thats on the grill throughout the parking lot. Inside its like walking into little Mexico. They have all the seasonings and spices you need to make your own authentic Mexican food. The food is behind a glass case, so you have to let the awesome ladies behind the counter know what you want. THE FOOD, the food is soooo good. The carnitas and the BBQ chicken was so full of flavor and fall apart. The tortillas come in a very big pack and you can take the rest home. The salsa is just how I like it....SPICY!!! It's more of a store, but there is seating inside if you want to sit and eat what you ordered. Very confusing if you don't understand the set up. They had a hard time understanding me and my broken Spanish. So maybe get an bilingual speaker on the front end? At first I was excited about the meat but ordered different types to try, got home it was fatty and greasy. The fried pork was impossible to eat because it was so hard. They didn't have any side, the tortillas were just ok. The 2 stars are for the rotisserie styled chicken which by itself would have been amazing. Not a fan of this restaurant/food kitchen style. Fredericksburg has a hidden gem!!! Hubby and I were driving when we saw this massive outdoor BBQ pit/trailer. The griller was using wood and barbecuing ribs, chicken quarters, and carne asada. We came back the next day and the ribs were juicy, smokey, seasoned to perfection! The chicken quarters were delicious and the carne asada was awesome and a nice grade of steak. They make their own tortillas too! Green sauce has a nice bite!Again, the ribs can be purchased and although they are perfect w/o BBQ sauce, if you wanted to go that route, add your favorite and say goodbye to your current rib spot! read more

Excellent lunch on a Sunday! Enter through the grocery store. Order food at the register if you want takeout or go into the restaurant side and sit down at a round table and order from the waitress if you want to dine in. Waitress did not speak any English so speaking Spanish is a must. Food came out very fast. Husband had menudo which was spicy and came with 8 homemade corn tortillas. I ordered three tacos- the menu only says tacos de asada (steak), but they also have 5 other types of tacos- I got 2 pastor (pork and pineapple) tacos with cilantro and cebolla (onion) and 1 asada taco plain. I also ordered a side of rice and beans. The 4 year old and 2 year old ate the rice and beans and asada taco. The tacos were very healthy servings with about a 1/2 cup of meat on each taco! They had music playing through a Bluetooth speaker and had a Mexican comedy skit projected on the wall with no sound. There were about 8 slot machines/casinos on the wall, a dance floor area, and a stage for the band. This would be a great event hall to have a baby shower/ quincenera, etc. The grocery store side is small and does not sell raw meat (no carniceria) but does a good business in Barbacoa and chicharon- there were lots of people ordering take out. They also sell about 20 trays of pan/ pastries but didn't look like they sold cakes. We enjoyed the food and will be eating there again! The three tacos, rice, beans, menudo, Mexican coke, jamaica agua fresca, and 2 juices for the kids totaled $45. The restaurant and grocery store do take credit and debit cards. read more

I was in town for training, and as usual I go looking for good local food. The first thing that got my attention was the massive BBQ trailer, smoke and the scent. I knew I had to try it! There isn't a whole lot to choose from, and the line to order can be somewhat confusing. But, ofcourse being bilingual helps, and I ordered chicken, beef short ribs, rice, and beans. It was all delicious, except for the ribs being a bit pricey, I was pleased with the meal considering where I was at. I went back a 2nd, and 3rt time as well, and brought my buddies too. We had carne asada and carnitas tacos. We were not disappointed, and they're not your average steet tacos, like in Cali. These were full-sized and very satisfying with their salsa that compliments them just right. Overall very satisfied for a little whole in the wall in Fredericksburg. read more
