Lidl I really like you!!! I wish they had them in Indiana!!! While visiting Fredericksburg my friends were telling me about Lidl. Lidl is a German grocery that is similar to Aldi, but way better!! They have more name brand items at great prices. They have fresh baked goods when you walk in and a bread slicer where you pick the slice size you want and pick the type of bread and presto it's sliced the way you want! The entire middle section has so many good deals!!! I didn't have room in my suitcase for all the great bargains I found. It was bright airy and had so many seasonal products on display. Fresh pumpkins and flowers and little shopping carts for kid shoppers! I wish I was able to take the white chocolate covered almond ice cream bars home with me in my luggage. I wouldn't want anybody like that working for me - even if it was fast food, retail, etc. the products were in good quality - of course like anywhere else just don't pick up what you don't like. Item I wanted to buy shoes as in stock at my local store on their website but when I got there they not only had none but told me they had never had it . All hail Lidl!!!! $85 for 4 full bags of groceries is a win in my book!!!! This location is rather large in comparison to the previous ones I've been to. Everything was fully stocked and plenty to chose from. Plenty of meat, yes meat on top of meat, on top of meat!! All the fresh fruit and veggies were just that, super fresh. Definitely adding this location to my grocery list!! Staff was friendly and accommodating. Bonus points for the minute something was empty someone was right there to restock it!! read more

I'm a huge fan of their apple turnovers, as it's light, flaky, and literally loaded with tons of spiced cubed apples within - it's great for a snack or a morning treat with your favorite hot beverage. We really love Lidl quality and prices however we do have one fairly major beef with their stocking - typically an ad comes out on Wed and by Wednesday evening if not sooner many of the items "on sale" at really great prices are LONG GONE! Not sure if it's restaurants coming in and buying up all their excellently priced seafood such as scallops, but if they put that 12 oz bag of scallops on sale for $4.99, you had better be there at 8:01am Wed morning. More than a few times we have gone early on a Wed and the item "did not arrive" and we got the "try back tomorrow" response. Uh, no. It's bad enough you only have one store in the Fredericksburg/Spotsy area (I don't count the one on Rt 17 in Stafford - way too far.) According to zoning records, Lidl owns a plot of land on Southpoint Drive, almost directly across from Lowes and next to the 7-11 - sitting there now for several years untouched. Yet Walmart is jam packed every day as is Aldi, their most serious competitor - but Lidl sees no need yet for a store here off exit 126? Seriously? I mean, come on, build the store - we could use it as we do not like to have to drive 20-25 mins to Plank Rd to save a few dollars. My best recommendation is to not rely on their sales - countless times they have run out on day one - there is simply no excuse for this - disappointing customers is just so unwise. You have nice easy to navigate stores with good quality products but if they are not in stock when one gets there, you destroy all the trust we have placed in you for your merchandise. Pick up your game Lidl - it's time to build that Southpoint store! read more

My favorite grocery store! Everything is affordable and good quality, always clean and the bakery is amazing. Good place to try different international foods, frozen seafood and fresh produce. I can only shop here first thing when they open otherwise it's too crowded and I can't get what I need. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Lidl! They really have so many incredible things that are such high quality - they almost feel like luxuries - but at insanely low prices. It almost feels like a little bit of European living, but bargain priced. It makes me feel like broke because I'm eating such good food - and doing it for less than garbage groceries cost me anywhere else. read more

I shop here weekly because of the great prices! I have 4 kids so feeding a small army gets expensive. Some things are compatible to Aldi prices but I have found that the quantity is larger. The app has free coupons in the check out section, $1-$2 here and there really helps. There meat is also trustworthy which speaks volumes to me. It is a bit crowded in the front being hit by specials, flowers, fruit, bakery and cash registers all at once. Persoanl opinion. The light came on and the lady supervisor for self check out came over I said I ness to pay and she says no I came over because the self check out was idle then I replied yes I know I was bagging my grocery and then her reply no I had come over because the red light and you need my assistance. Lately every time I go to this store ,they cheat me. Today I bought sell items which were in their ad and charged regular price. They put sale signs on items and then you pay full .price. Another trick is to put organic produces next to regular products like strawberries and blackberries . Someone mixes them up and you wind up paying 3 to 4 times for the same item. Their cheeses seem to mold after they are opened. They will put a closeout sign on an item and you are charged regular price. Social distancing is a joke at the register because the person in front or in back of you is trying to bag their groceries right on top of you while the cashier is ringing the next person and shoving their groceries on top of yours. read more

Great quality grocery with excellent prices! I shop for chicken breast, chicken thighs, ground turkey, salmon, fruit, fresh bread and produce from here typically. I stay away from the steaks and ground beef. I can usually find those items cheaper on sale somewhere else. read more

I've been shopping at Lidl's since day 1 of their opening. There have been times where I've been a tad bit disappointed because of spoiled produce but overall, I am very happy shopping at Lidl's. The highest points are (1) the best low prices; (2) the wide variety of food items including specialties, organic and frozen; (3) outstanding friendly customer service. This is my most memorable and thankful experience. I am a 75 yr old disabled person and I found out upon entering the store that I had forgotten my grocery list. So, I went back to my car and was shocked to discover I had locked my keys in the car!! After extremely horrific disappointing calls to my car insurance company who actually lied to me about getting me back into my vehicle, a Lidl employee suggested that I contact the local fire department for assistance. Otherwise, I would have had to leave my car on the lot overnight with my purse with the keys inside it. I will always be grateful to Lidl for this personal help. read more

A manager came over to the cash register a couple feet away from us, helped the cashier out, and walked away without even noticing my dad and I. about 5 minutes after that, we were finally helped. Buyer Beware! I had a real learning experience yesterday and thought others should know about it. I bought a package of organic romaine hearts the day before. As best as I could through the camouflaged cellophane packaging, I gave it a look - couldn't see much, off to check out. Fast forward to dinner preparation that night. Open up the package to make a salad and it is disgusting! It's got a blight all over the leaves, had to pull off about ten just to get some without the blight. Then found the rot that was in the center of most of the spines. Completely defective, diseased and rotted and definitely not eatable. So, I took it back to Lidl because I take everything back that is substandard. Upon informing the cashier/customer service person of my problem, she promptly told me there were no returns and no refunds and pointed to their sign that says as much. I was appalled! I was furious, I said, are you telling me that you sold me a defective food product and you are not going to refund my money for it? And, she said, no returns, no refunds. Not I'm sorry you had a bad experience, how about I replace it? Nope! I said to her I would never, ever shop at this store again. And, I was reminded as I left that recently I had to take back a bag or organic limes to Food Lion because they were dry. What did they do? Well, she very politely apologized, and said, here's your refund and it was too much. I said, I didn't pay that much for them and SHE SAID, if ever you are not satisfied with a product, we DOUBLE the refund! What an incredible contrast in customer service! (By the way, I did have receipts in both of these cases.) As another aside, Giant also has a 'no return' policy right now. BUT again, if you are not satisfied with a product - they do refund your money. Just seems that Lidl is the only anti-customer store around and I've shopped (and returned stuff to) all of them! So, might need open up the packages BEFORE you buy at Lidl, because they sure won't work with you if it's no good! read more

I'm not one to leave a negative review however this one is necessary. Lidl has Saturday and Sunday specials but if you don't shop early, 8-10, on Saturday morning you will be wasting your time thinking you'll get the sale. I came in before 12 on Saturday, sold out. I asked the manager and of course you receive they're sorry. I mentioned it's just noon and this is a 2 day sale, he shrugged his shoulders. Another time I was there by 1 on a Saturday same problem, sold out. This is a 2 day sale, you'd think they would bring in enough product. Also they should instruct their cashiers to ask for your Lidl app to get credit for your purchase because corporate won't help you after the sale is completed. read more

As a frequent shopper since it opened last year, I am writing this review and giving them 1 star only because of a recent issue that is driving me and a bunch of other shoppers nuts at Lidl in Fredericksburg. They, and I mean management, have decided to shut down the self checkout lines - for which Fredericksburg has 4 of them. That in itself has to be the worst decision by management that they could possibly make. I don't even understand why. I've been told by employees a variety of reasons for the change- either they found a lot of theft going on at these checkouts to the manager not having the manpower to have someone standing there to observe everybody using them. Whatever reason they have cannot possibly fix the harm they are doing. I like to get in and out with usually the staples - bread eggs milk, OJ, meat. I want to get in, get my stuff, use my card, and get out. Because they have closed these lanes for the past 3 months at least, I have to wait in some long line and there's always only one or at the most two lines working (when they have 6-7 total) and there's always long lines with plenty of people with loaded carts. And I have to stand there with 4 items in my hands. It actually makes me not want to bother going in to shop there and I'm not alone. Please fix this issue because whenever I see one checkout line working, I see about 6-7 employees just working the floor and walking around. It's more than aggravating. I have called the customer service line about the issue and it doesn't seem to get solved. read more

Beware of anything requiring customer service. Beware of loose carts in the parking lot. A loose cart rolling in the car lot scraped and dented our new car, only two weeks old. The store does not often enough organize the carts and this becomes a problem when the sidewalk grade sloping toward the lot is too steep to hold the cluttered carts customers leave outside the already full bins. While we stood looking at the damage, another cart came loose and would have rolled into a neighboring car if we had not caught it. Lidl has no in-store customer service, just a number to call. I called three times to ask if they would take responsibility for the damage their negligence caused. Each time I was told someone would get back to me. Never did. I suspect Lidl's German parent company is not accustomed to the high level of customer service Americans normally expect and get from our supermarket chains. read more
