I was looking for a new car. I wanted a hybrid small SUV. Danbury Hyundai tried pushing a lease on me, but I wasn't interested. I saw Torrington Hyundai had an add so I clicked on it. To get a special price I had to put in my name and number. Immediately I had a call back. The young lady was very polite, but I couldn't afford the price she quoted. She asked me some questions and said the sales manager would call me back. He did and offered me a deal that was hard to refuse. So I drove the hour from Danbury to Torrington. Love the Tucson hybrid they had. Took a test drive and they looked at my trade. The deal was on, no hassle, no fuss on our part. Mike Keeler the salesman was wonderful. He cleaned up the SUV while the paperwork was readied. I signed everything and still can't believe we have such a great car. Two days later I realized that I had left my EZpass in the trade. I called and they are going to mail it back to me! Such my, friendly people to deal with. They came up with the numbers that enticed me to drive an hour away. Then being so nice on top of it. I would not recommend Torrington Hyundai for any major service work. In February 2024, I purchased a used Hyundai Tucson. By April, it developed serious drivability issues. I brought it to Torrington Hyundai on April 30, 2024, and initially considered taking the vehicle to another shop -- but they convinced me to leave it with them, assuring me they'd handle everything properly. That was a mistake. They ended up keeping my car for over a year, telling me it needed a new engine, turbo, and computer. Communication during this time was extremely poor -- I had to call them every time to get updates. They rarely reached out proactively, and due to their high staff turnover, I was constantly being passed from one service employee to another, each time having to re-explain my situation from the beginning. When I finally got the car back on June 27, 2025, it still had the exact same drivability issues. I returned it again on July 2, and when I finally got it back the second time, the original issue seemed fixed -- but now the air conditioning and remote start don't work, even though both were working before their repairs. When I asked for help, they refused to even inspect those issues without charging a diagnostic fee. This is completely unacceptable after they had the car for 14 months and returned it in worse condition. I've filed complaints with Hyundai Corporate and the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection. I gave this dealership every opportunity to do the right thing. They failed -- at communication, service, and accountability. I would strongly urge others to take their vehicles elsewhere. read more

I brought my Hyundai to this dealership to sell in the hope of soon buying a new car. I was shocked by the poor quality of service. The salesperson was abrupt and rude, and the manager even more so. They did not follow the proper appraisal process, provided no paperwork, and were actively aggressive. I will not be giving Torrington Hyundai another penny!!!!! I went there on 1/23/25 for a service (covered under warranty) while I was waiting they informed me there was a mouse nest in the cabin air filter box. I was charged $449.82 which I thought was crazy for a mouse nest removal but I paid it anyways. On 4/21/25 I brought my car there for a check engine light. They gave me a call and informed me I had another mouse nest in the same spot and it would be a little over $100 to take care of. Why would the price be that dramatically different than last time for the same exact job?? I told them to leave the nest and I would take care of it myself. Fast Forward to today 11/07/25. My car was there for a service and a new plunger for my fuel door (all covered under warranty) Melissa in the service department called me informing me that they also needed to replace 3 filters and it would be $110 total. Then when I go to pick my car up it's suddenly $244.50. When I politely asked why it was more expensive Melissa stomps over saying "that I was wrong and she never said it would be $110" I know I heard her clearly on the phone because I am cautious with them now after the mouse nest charge!!!! I NEVER write reviews but I am hoping to save someone else from getting up-charged and gaslit by them. This is the worst dealership I have ever dealt with. I have been attempting to buy out my leased Elantra for over a month and I keep getting pushed back for many different excuses like the financial guy isn't available or half of the service department is quarantining for COVID. I work full time and have one day a week off a week, and twice appointments for required financial and/or service inspection to buy the car were cancelled by the dealer. Now the price has gone up significantly with new, higher fees that I was not made aware of initially, calls and emails are not returned, and my car lease is up in 7 days. This is exactly what I was trying to avoid by being proactive in early November which was over 5 weeks ago. Watch out everyone. Even if you like to buy Hyundai car do not go to the Torrington location. Sales man (his name is Gary Synott), sales manager and business manager tried to scam me. They made me sign for contract to buy new car (brand new'IONIC5 ') and pay a deposit of $500 dollars. But on the day they promised me the car, they did not give me any information about if the car was coming or delayed. A couple days later they tried to sell me a used car (which that dealership already put 700 miles on) as a new car price. They made me deposit money certifying bank check (which I had to pay fee to the bank). When I figured out everything was a scam then they rushed to refund my money back to me and made me go back home without any apology. I feel they took advantage of me because I am an Asian women and my English isn't as good as others. I'm very disappointed that this behavior is still happening in the United States. read more

Had an issue with signing up for Blue Link and Jon Alfano the owner was not willing to help with the issue that someone had already signed up for the blue link service with this car and had already used 13 months of this service. I took my car to the Torrington Hyundai dealership for two service recalls. I was impressed by the speed that the service department got the car into the garage, and waited in the waiting room which was nice and clean, very comfortable. When the car was done, in slightly less time than I anticipated, I was happy to say that they had done a good job and hadn't tied up my day. However, I was very disturbed when I got home and found the "Service Vehicle Inspection Report" in my email. In the section for tires, the report said "Worn Out / Abnormal Wear/ Damaged /Mismatched". This was quite surprising since I had replaced all 4 tires just exactly one week prior to this appointment. I looked at the tires and they looked still brand new! This was a downright LIE! It is a shame that I have to give this company one star because they deserve ZERO! I bought a 15' Hyundai Santa Fe in 2019 with 60,000 miles on it. I bought an extended warranty of 3 years 60k miles. I serviced my car through Torrington Hyundai. In January 2023 I hear acceleration issues with my car, and the check engine light was on. I took it to the dealership and told them that, while on the phone with them a team member had said that he hoped the engine light was connected to the acceleration issues. Well, they fixed something for cheap (under 50$) and sent me on my way. A few months later the noise came back but worse, the engine light on again. I took it to someone I trust near me, he said just by listening to the car that the engine was bad. He said this is a KNOWN problem for Hyundai engines. 113,000 MILES!!! and my engine is no good! Torrington Hyundai takes no responsibility for this happening and is trying to upcharge me on the new engine too. 14k for a new engine or 11k for a bs built one. So, my regular warranty with Hyundai is up by 13k miles. My extended warranty expired by time and NOT miles. The fact that I bought the car there, serviced it there, and them not taking responsibility is saying that it's my fault. My fault that an engine died at 113k miles. HOW? I would NEVER do business with this dealership again. I would NEVER buy a Hyundai again. I took my car to them after I talked to the person I trust, he told me that hyundai should replace my engine because of their track record. They know this is a problem with their cars he said. I dropped it off, it took weeks to even get them to look at it at first. They then told me there was nothing they could do for me. I went there to pick my car up because I wasn't about to pay these outrageous prices for engines on a Hyundai with 113k miles. I have other quotes from other companies saying 4-6k. I get there and the Assistant Manager of service Eric charged me 380 dollars to get my car out of there. 380 dollars, to do nothing. I BROUGHT MY CAR THERE AND TOLD THEM THE ENGINE WAS NO GOOD. Now I paid 380 dollars to get my key back because of diagnostics?! The customer service was graded an F. Never have I ever had a worse experience with any company in any industry. My girlfriend bought a Hyundai from a small dealership in Plainville and little did she know that someone messed with all of the wiring from the radio to the tail lights. The staff here was able to fix every problem that she experienced so far with no question asked. Other places kept saying they wouldn't do it or it would cost a fortune to fix. Not these guys they took the car in and fixed every problem we've had in no time. Top notch service and they understand that not everyone takes a car apart before buying it. Extremely disappointed. I was happy with my salesman, Steve Smith, but my dissatisfaction started after the handshake. First of all, the finance manager attempted to slip that VIN etching garbage past me without telling me. Second, the service department damaged my vehicle and the dealership won't fix it. I brought the car in a few days after purchase so they could wet vac it to get the cigarette stench out. When I picked the car up, there was a crack across almost the entire length of the windshield. I didn't notice until I was almost home due to the snow and fog on the windshield. When I called the dealership I was told it would be "easier for" me to go through my own insurance company. Took advantage of me. 22 year old girl purchasing my first car a 2015 Hyundai Elantra. Signed for a lease at $350/mo @ 48 months. My parents told me that it was a ridiculous price and I needed to get out of it. The sticker on the car I bought said $21,000. This was a year and a half ago and we find out today that the buyout price is still at $21,000. How could that be when I've been paying the car off for 18 months?? Probably because they sold me the car for $24,000 when it was worth $21,000. Not even any little extra specs included in that extra $3,000. They just jacked up the price on me because hey apparently I didn't know what I was doing!! My dad went to speak to my salesman right after he found this out and my salesman claims that he didn't sell the car to me... Unreal. My salesman and his manager didn't even write their names on my lease agreement in the box where it specifically asks for their names in print!!! They knew exactly what they were doing....!!!!! Make the drive to the Avon dealerships. It's worth it. If you do go there though, make sure you know every single thing you're signing for, make sure you keep all documentation and be careful!!!! Also, when I purchased my car I was told I would have the Hyundai blue link as a free trial. When I finally went to get help at the store to set it up I was told that my free trial has already been used...? I was asked for my vin number and then told that when I purchased the car my vin number was entered incorrectly. They didn't even give me another free trial. read more

They said if I purchased a car from their lot the turn in fee for the Hyundai would be waved so we chose to go with their used cars. A month after the purchase we receive a bill over 600.00 for a turn in fee and wear on the lease. Lousy dealership. Poor customer service. Sales Manager Chris Curran would just walk into the back, not return and then not call me with any answer. Issue was that I was due 2 free oil changes and one free tire rotation negotiated upon purchase (4/30/16) that of which the second oil change and the tire rotation were denied to me.( August 2017?) Original salesman Steve Hamzy had left the dealership. No one told me I had to redeem these services within a one year period, nor was that written down anywhere. I do not drive many miles annually. I contacted Hyundai corporate early 2018 and was told they could not do anything for me because this was an independent dealership. I was told by a new (and nice) salesman, Phil Giannattasio (3/12/18) after complaining again, that the owner approved my oil change and he provided this is writing upon my request but the sales manager still refuses to acknowledge me or this agreement so who knows what will happen when I actually need this service. I have had to go elsewhere for service during all this unnecessary back and forth over what at lousy $60-$75 bucks?? Also on a recent recall Roger, service advisor said they would do a multi point inspection while they had my vehicle but of course this sheet was not attached to my paperwork and it was taking too long to get it so I just left. read more
