I had to purchase a pair of dress shoes, and I specifically asked the salesperson when I told her that they were a little tight, but was assured that they would loosen up upon wear and if they didn't, that I could return them. I thought, "that's why I love Nordstrom's." Fast forward two hours, and I had a huge blister on the inside of my big toe. I had to remove the shoes and switch into tennis shoes, which did not match my suit at all. But, I knew I could return the shoes, so I was OK with that. I took the shoes back and was told by a sales clerk and by the manager, "Finn," that I could not return the shoes because they had been worn outside. I explained to her that I specifically asked that when I purchased them earlier and was assured that I could. She said that didn't matter because there were scuffs on the sole of the shoe. I said I would take store credit and she said "aren't you listening, I said we could not take them back." I would avoid this Nordstrom's rack, find another or better yet, just skip them altogether - they are not what they used to be, they do not stand behind their products, and they do not stand behind their word.

One thing I liked is their website has an extensive selection, but sometimes you could find the dress in the store to try on and even if it was the wrong size they could order it for you and have it shipped to your house for free because they're based in California. It took about 3 - 4 business days to get my shoes that I needed in a certain size and a dress that I needed. So if you plan a little bit in advance and they don't have your size they can check inventory and order it for you so you can get within 3 to 4 days you should have it if you're in WA. You'll be notified when the order ships and when your order is expected delivery + a tracking number to watch for it. The girls that work there are sweet, helpful, but not hovering, and will show you what they have if you ask for something particular.

Being without clothes, they wanted to open my curtain and saying if I don't hurry up they will come in and kick me out. Once i had my clothes on and ready to go, they followed me outside the store and i told the manager why was this happening and she gave me a very NASTY look and IGNORED me. The two male cops kept following me until I was at the food court on my way out. This is very unexceptional, unexpected and inexcusable.

The store is clean and well-maintained, and prices seemed reasonable from what we saw. Too bad we didn't end up finding anything we wanted to buy - it would have been nice to support this little place. Overall, it's worth a stop if you're in the area doing the thrift and vintage circuit.

We just finished hockey and wanted to hit up some local thrift, vintage, shops. So when we arrived, they were closed. We walked to a nearby thrift store then came back. We were immediately intrigued by the stores ambiance. It was set up really cute, total vintage, and clean. Many things caught our eyes, and we scattered all giddy, but the elder behind the counter kept staring at us, NONE STOP. Like we were stealing from her. Which made it awkward. So we didn't stay long. Then she got very flustered, that I wanted to pay 1/2 cash, 1/2 card. I stood there quietly. To the point I was like, just keep the clothes. It's ok, but we really liked what we were buying. Many things are over priced, as many "vintage" stores are. (Ex. A "very" used pair of Converse Chucks were $45). You gotta really shop for the diamond in the rough, but it's absolutely worth it. They had a nice selection of attire, we would've purchased more. However, not finding much clothing under $40, and I was shopping with two teenagers. It was a tad outta our price range.

There are people who get in the business of hawking vintage stuff because it's trendy or a quick buck, and then there are people who know the business deeply because they love it. Jordan is firmly in the latter camp; her little shop on "I" St. (across from Tacoma Little Theatre) was her family shop for ages, and the newer, more expansive one (attached to Kings Books) allows plenty of room to roam. (It also feels really clean, unlike some vintage stores I've browsed.) With different stuff in the store vs. at the year-round weekly market vs. in the Etsy shop, you can have a whole lot of fun browsing here. And when you find the winners for you, it won't break the bank to hug them all up (Tiny Toons/Elmira-style) and bring them home with you. Enjoy!

The tailor continually ignored me when I tried to communicate with him. At checkout, a woman who told me she'd worked there for over 20 YEARS said she didn't want to become a manager because of how badly corporate treats its employees and how little they feel anyone cares about them. K&G corporate--you might want to pay attention to that. I was told my alterations would be finished the following Friday. I showed up and suddenly the tag said Tuesday, making the turnaround roughly TWO WEEKS. Because of my work schedule, I couldn't return until the next Friday, immediately before the event I needed the suit for. Then came the part that absolutely blew my mind. THEY LEFT THE GIANT BEIGE MAGNETIC SECURITY TAG ON MY ALTERED SLACKS. I didn't discover it until the day of my event. I had to spend the ENTIRE EVENT trying to hide this thing so nobody would think I'd stolen my own suit. Something I was supposed to enjoy became a day of being self-conscious and paranoid because of K&G's incompetence. But mistakes happen. What REALLY earned the one star was what happened afterward. I returned to have it removed, and the elderly woman who had handed me the suit the previous day couldn't have cared less. I had to explain what happened TWICE before getting a rushed, snarky "Ohhh, your fault, my mistake" followed by a smirk. MY fault?! Your store altered the pants. Your store handed them back to me. Your store left YOUR security tag attached. And after ruining my experience at an important event, THAT'S the response? Here's the irony: the ONLY person in that store who consistently treated me like a customer was a TEENAGER--and I watched him GET IN TROUBLE FOR IT. K&G, PUT THE TEENAGER IN CHARGE. Apparently he's the only person there who understands customer service. This doesn't look like one bad employee. It looks like a management and culture problem. A 20+ year employee openly complaining about corporate, employees taking zero accountability, the one good employee getting reprimanded, and a store that's practically BARREN of customers every time I visit. Maybe those things are connected. I actually LIKE K&G's merchandise, which makes this even more disappointing. But I'm done with this location. Maybe I'll check back in a decade--assuming it's still here. Until then, I would LEGITIMATELY rather pay hundreds of dollars more for my suits somewhere else than ever go through this again.
