I took my daughter in to look for a dress, but she is currently in between sizes. I asked one of the employees if they could measure her for a dress. The associate stared at me like I asked her to do something crazy. They measure customers all the time for bras, so I didn't think my question was unusual. I just wanted to know her chest, waist, and hip measurements. The employee told me "Well whatever size she wears...is what you buy." But that was my question, what size fits her best? It is difficult sometimes because people have different shapes that fit into the same size. I tried to explain to her that I didn't know what size would fit her the best, she cut me off and told me to have her try on clothes and I'll get my answer. So I picked items out for my daughter to go try on, while waiting for her the same employee kept looking at me. That made me feel extremely uncomfortable. So after my daughter tried on many items I was able to figure out what size fit her best. The dress she tried on was a 14/16. But the dress online didn't come in merged sizes. The dress was available in a 14, 16, etcetera. So I wasn't sure if she was more of a 14 or a 16. I didn't want the dress to be too small or too baggy. So I asked another associate for her opinion. She stared at me dumbfounded, then said "wait, what, I don't understand." So I repeated myself slowly trying to explain better. The associate still did not understand. So again I asked, not really expecting an answer at this point. She then said well it depends on what size fits her. I explained AGAIN that the dress she tried on in the store was a merged size 14/16, but the dress online came in a 14 or 16. She reluctantly answered that she always goes for the smaller size. I just answered "okay, great, thank you!" And left the store. The whole conversation made me feel stupid, and degraded. I don't know if this location was desperate and hired random people, or if their associates are trained in customer service. At this point, I'm not sure if I will ever return to this location. Corporate definitely needs to send help!

I was asked repeatedly for my phone number to see who had "called me", and they were more focused on looking at my account to find someone instead of understanding I am responding to a message here. Then they want me to fill out a form to forward to the store. Such a missed opportunity for them to take ownership to rectify the situation. I would say improve training to address the issue. If your representative cannot function without a customer's phone number, your process is broken and that is why brick and mortar stores will join the dinosaur era.

Then I would hole myself away, flipping through the pages and thinking about tweed, argyle, and Italian shoes. Anyway, it was a joyous occasion indeed when I discovered that there is a factory store within a 45 minute jaunt from my home. Let me explain that the J.Crew Factory Store, like the Banana Republic equivalent, has a great deal of clothing that were made for the factory store (rather than irregulars or overstocks). What this means is it might not be completely up to snuff with the clothing from the regular store. I've purchased a lot (A LOT) and I have found that it is good quality but can lack some of the extra detailing that I admire in much of J.Crew's goods. (e.g., a grosgrain ribbon trim here, silk piping there...) But I have gotten a lot of great clothing, so this is just a word of warning. Also, they have no shoes or handbags *dots tears away with printed silk-twill scarf* but their sale selection is always marked down even further from their already quite low prices.

She recently bought a pair of jeans and wore them three times, washed them once, and realize that some of the holes In her pants had under materials which were shifting and it looked to be defective. She was concerned because she thought she had lost a pair of jeans and she would not be able to wear them again but when I went into the store the customer service was amazing! I was helped by somebody who apologized for the error in the jeans and offered to order them and have them sent to our house free of charge as they did not have her size in stock. I would totally shop here again I will continue to shop here and I would recommend it to anybody who likes a good pair of jeans for a good price and great customer service.

Then I get home to find that the idiot behind the counter did not take off the security tag which means I now have to waste my very very precious time and drive all the way back to the store to have them removed the tag. The girl behind the counter removed the tag & apologized, I told her I felt they should give me something to compensate me for my time. She replied to me that she had already apologized and that she had taken the security tag off for me that should be enough. So she did her job congratulations to her, I won't be shopping here again

And if they don't have your size on the rack, it is impossible to get it. The sales staff in the location near me is also very unhelpful, impossible even to order in a different size. Today, after finding nothing here and no help, I took my kids across the street where there was a great selection at a competitor. I think our family is done with Aeropostale, and will stick with the competitor for a few years.
