He tried to buy the car for scrap value. I refused, arranged to have Mr. Vess leave the key in the car so I could pick it up that night after hours, he agreed. There was no key when I went to get it. Called Mr. Vess and he said the key was locked in the shop. The shop is in his front yard, less than 50 yards from his house. He refused to open it as his son was in possession of the key and "lives off." Tried everything but begging. He said to throw a rope on it and tow it because he wasn't giving us !@#$. Things went south from there, I wound up stuck on the side of the road, a lady harassed me while trying to pretend to be a victim of trespassing, even though I was on the other side of the road, on a public easement. She refused to take my license, which I offered to prove I wasn't up to anything bad. Didn't acknowledge anything I said and repeated the same two phrases ad nauseam, then accused me of being rude. I informed her she couldn't be rude, ignore everything I said, then falsely accuse me of instigating anything. She shut up and went back to repeating those same two phrases. My ride showed up to tow the car and the crazy lady next door was joined by several people. Turns out, she's Mr. Vess' Daughter In Law, and one of the other men was his son. When Mr. Vess said his son lived "way off" he meant next door, less than 100 yards from the shop. It would have taken him 3-5 minutes to get the key. The son was hateful, said the car was a piece of @#$% and he hoped we got killed by drunk drivers. Got the car towed the next morning. Insane, hateful, ugly, lying people. Towed the car to Kings Collision, picked up after hours, got a free estimate. No problem. Dropping off/Picking up after hours isn't unusual.

Oh I'm so sorry let me send you a text right now, the lady up front may have gotten your number wrong. I got the text and responded, yes this is the same number I got a text from 2 weeks ago. I m sorry sir I have no idea how that happened. Another week passes with no communication I text and don't get a response so I call, we are waiting on a part from the dealership. Ok, still why haven't I been updated. I'm u sure why you're not getting our texts. Hmmm. Another week passes, I say it's been 4 weeks and this is getting a bit ridiculous, oh sir certainly you were told when you dropped it off it's 2 to 4 weeks. No, no one said a thing other than they will keep you updated which they didn't. Long story short, A+ on the body work and F on the communication. It was an insurance claim so I only had my deductible but the total seemed to be a good value for the work done.
