I searched for a local tow company and came up with SuperSonic tow. When I called the dispatcher answered Toro Road Runners. Toro listing says it is in Oakland but the internet says it's in Southern California. When they charge yiur credit card it comes up with another name all together! This is all very fishy. Is towing the new Mafia? Here are the specifics of my experience. Not to mention $152 for under a mile tow! Beware. Misleading information on the internet. I searched for a LOCAL tow company and found this listing blocks from my house. I questioned the dispatcher about their location and he went along with my questions and added that he was new to the area. I explained that I needed the tow because Stste Farms tow had not shown up in 3 days since the agent put in the request. The tow truck showed up later than promised, towed car to mechanic shop .8 miles and then took my CC to charge me. I to driver to give himself a $10 tip and asked for an invoice to get reimbursed again. He told me it was on the way. He departed. After 5 days I had to call the company which was difficult because I had not been handed anything. I logged onto my bank website, viewed CC charges and had nothing from SuperSonic Towing. Instead I had a charge from a tow company named J&R Towing in Laffayette ! Not a few blocks from my house! (Note: there was no company phone number on my bank's log, so I had to search the internet again to find the name SuperSonic Towing & their number.) I called again because State Farm asked me - "where is my tow receipt?" If they hadn't call I would have forgotten to get reimbursed. When I called the number I found that several fake company listings on the internet all go to one central dispatcher that serves California and Texas! I don't understand how Lafayette figures into any of this. The dispatcher who answered the phone told me that the driver never requested my invoice and I was going to have to wait until next week to get one! I had already been waiting a week. This is really a lot of BS and mis direction. All very fishy. I am for remote work but this is very fishy. read more

They took super long to get there, despite the 30 min guarantee and jump started my car in 1 min & charged me an astronomical amount of money when they LIED by not staying within the 30 min. The estimated time frame. Beware this company!!!! They have companies all over the Bay Area so make sure you don't go with any of them!! Their website states it's $35-$85 for a jump start. Ok, I was expecting that. Then they charged me $55 for a service fee & $5.60 to use my credit card! Nowhere on their website does it say I will be charged $55 service fee! Then the driver finally showed up to the area and called me but didn't actually have the details from them so it took even more time for me to manually guide him. I called this tow service because my car would not start. There were so many warnings that came on the dash that I wasn't sure what the problem was & wanted it towed to my dealership. When the tow truck guy arrived (named Guy or so he said), I asked "can you just check to see if it is the battery before you tow it?" He said "lets just tow it", & that rubbed me the wrong way. He was constantly speaking over me when I was trying to explain what was going on. He got the battery pack & hooked it up, my car did more than it was so obviously it was the battery. He immediately put the car in neutral & started to roll it out of the parking space to position it to tow. I asked "so it is the battery" & he says "something is draining your battery" as he still pushes the car backward. I get in the truck & when he get in, he ask me how am I going to pay. I tell him that I paid when I called because the lady asked how I was going to pay & I gave my credit card info. He said "no, you didn't" & I said "were you on the phone when we were talking" & he said "I'm not going to argue with you". When we arrived at the dealership, I gave cash since he said I did not pay, I refuse to give my credit card info again. If I was not paying previously over the phone, the wording should have been different. There better not be a charge on my credit card. The original price was $175 from Costco in San Leandro to Honda of Oakland on Broadway, & when I said that seemed expensive, I was given the "employee discount" & it was knocked down to $140. If I could give this company a zero I will. The staff suck ..the communication is third grade level and if you ask simple questions staff will begin to ignore the call and send the call to voicemail. They were pleasant at first, but then were more than an hour late and never communicated accurately with me. They took down addresses wrong, took 30 minutes to get me 2 miles, and charged me without asking me or telling me the cost. When I called for explanation and help, I was hung up on numerous times by people who told me conflicting stories and said they didn't have any way to help me. If they sent me a tow truck, shouldn't they have more information about what happened and why? They take no ownership of their work and it is evident that they don't care about their customers. Towing itself was fine. Issue was we had made an appointment to have the car towed (it was on a side street so we could schedule). Showed up an hour late (never knew there could be so many "he will be there in 5-10 minutes" in an hour. Big issue we had agreed to a price when he called but driver charged us $80 more. Yesterday I got a flat tire and because I don't have a spare I needed a tow truck to tow me to a tire place to have it repaired. i called Toro Road Runners and ordered the tow. i was told on the phone that I needed to secure the truck with a credit card and it would be a $45 dollar cancellation fee if I canceled the truck. The car was on the corner of Lakeshore Ave and Bolden Way in Oakland CA. I found a tire place (Rouse tires 2340 Harrison St., Oakland who are great!!!) .6 miles (slightly over a half mile) from my location that could take my car. The tow truck came and towed me to the tire place. When we went to settle the bill for the towing, the tow truck drive told me the tow would cost me $145!!! The price for a half mile tow sounded outrageous and I wasn't going to pay it. The driver then told me the best they could do was $130. I went into the tire place to ask if that price sounded right to them and they were shocked and said no way was that a reasonable price that at the most that tow should cost $65-$80 tops. I went back to the tow truck and got on the phone with tow office who told me that was their fee to tow 0-5 miles. They were incredible rude to me. They told me that they would start charging me more money because the driver had other calls to go on and he had already knocked off $15. They never at anytime quoted me a price, not to mention, had they quoted me a price when the driver first came to pick me up and I canceled I would still be charged a $45 cancellation fee. The people at the tire shop said they should have quoted me a price before my car was ever on the truck and not doing so was against industry standards.They told me to report the company to bureau of automotive repair and the BBB, which I plan on doing. They were so shocked by what this tow company did that one of the service people there took a picture of their license plate and CA licensing number for me. In my opinion it amounted to extortion. I had no choice but to pay their price and now have been left with a bill almost double what it should have cost. This is beyond unethical. read more

We hit a deer on highway 13, and we needed a tow. We called Toro for a tow. They were very attentive. The tow truck arrived in 40 minutes. Our tow truck driver, Delfino, was awesome. He did everything he could to help us get the car back in our driveway. Very helpful. Great customer service. At such a stressful time, Delfino had us laughing the whole ride home. Let me start with that this towwing company i would recommend to any one around the bay area!. This is probly the best experience that i had with a towing company,my name i kevin benavides and i was in a very horrible crash but the representatives were very calm,listened and talked me through it. First it was jessica she seem determined to help and find my location she sent out juan which was the driver i called to make sure they were on point because i was in a very remote area and berly had reception.
