They are very, very good at the masonry aspect,…read morebut we had a negative experience with everything outside of the excellent stone walls and patio they built for us. They have built beautiful flat stone walls for us in our front and back yards. We were very impressed with them after the first job they did for us in our front yard a few years ago, so we did not even look at other companies when we wanted to spruce up our backyard this year. The garden walls they built in the backyard were once again beautiful. However, as a gardener, I was disappointed and frustrated by the following things: - Our contract included 50/50 loam compost for the new garden beds. During the job, we caught them filling the beds with the grass they had pulled up from our old lawn and asked them to stop doing that. - When I went to start planting, I found that the garden beds had only a layer of new soil but that my shovel quickly hit a lot of big rocks and uncovered old soil, debris, and trash. - They completely trampled and destroyed my established perennial garden, which was located in a garden bed above where the new beds were built. They also broke several pavers in a little garden path I had and removed them without replacing them. - They recommended microclover for my lawn and seeded it for us as part of the contract, but it grew in quite spotty despite us maintaining it properly with daily waterings. I contacted them about the first issue and their initial response was to tell me that the stones I was finding were part of the wall construction - this was not the case. They had someone come out to take a look and concluded that the soil did need to be replaced, which they finally did. It is much better now, though I still have found some large stones in it. However, in the process of solving that issue, they caused the second one - many of the perennials that my mother and I had worked to plant over the past four years were totally destroyed. They offered me a credit to compensate for the loss, or the option to have them reinstall new flowers, but by that point I just didn't want them near my garden anymore so accepted the credit. I didn't bother contacting them about the spotty lawn - I threw down some grass seeds yesterday to try and fill in the gaps. While I appreciated that they did eventually take steps to resolve the issues, I found it quite frustrating to have to keep reaching out just to get them to do what they really should have done in the first place. They never did a final walkthrough as I've seen other contractors do. No apology for destroying my garden. They have a Benjamin Franklin quote, "The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten" - I definitely felt some of that bitterness throughout this process. My conclusion is that they are really excellent masons but do not understand or respect gardens. If you hire them, be prepared to have to deal with that.

I've been an architect for 30 years so I've inspected a lot of construction work and I can honestly say that the retaining wall exceeded my expectations in every way. I expected to get a replica of the original wall but got something far better in both appearance and quality. The team of masons were courteous and finished the project without skipping any days. They also cleaned up every day and left my yard cleaner than they found it when the project was finished. All of my immediate neighbors have complimented me on the wall and I expect to get many more when boating season on the lake begins next May. I solicited multiple bids for the wall project and selected AJ Masonry because they were the most informative and responsive to changes related to the Lynn Conservation Commission and Building Department. They were not the lowest bidder, nor the highest, but they were worth every penny. I can highly recommend them without hesitation.

Zine's crew first replaced the stucco on my house back in the Spring. It developed cracks and…read morepeeling from the foundation. They came back a second time to redo their work. The same thing happened. Zine decided to return the third time and replace the problematic sections that were separating from the foundation. It is now the middle of October and I continue to have the same issue. He said he'll return and has not yet. He has suggested that I need to paint | seal the stucco. I want to do that but first need to know that it does not separate from the foundation so I don't waste my effort. Update on Oct 24. Zine came out to meet with me today. I now understand we had a miscommunication. He said he is a man of his word and I believe him. I will post photos of the new work and results. It might be in the Spring since the weather is getting too cold for stucco work.

The Manager, Aldemir Freitas, provided a reasonable price to complete the work. Aldemir walked the house perimeter with me to review the work I needed done. When extra carpentry work was required once they started, the cost to compelte was very reasonable ( no price gouging ). The crew(s) were professional, communicated well and the quality of their work was very good. Aldemir constantly communicated with me and his crews. Highly recommend calling Aldemir to get a quote for your work. He will get back to you immediately and provide a quote within 24 hours.

They returned in June of the next year to correct. Again, the paint was peeling after 3 or 4 months. They returned a 2nd time, but not until the following year. They repainted again with the same result. After that, they said the warranty was over and "there must be something wrong with Our house". No previous painters had this problem. If you are considering Arch, you should also know that the painting is not actually done by their employees. They sub-contract the work to dodgy crews with no Arch Signage on their trucks. I could attach more pictures, but suffice to say this was not in one spot but pretty much everywhere they painted.

While he was there, I mentioned that I want to have my foundation wall finished with stucco. He told me he has a guy who can do that too. Well, I got a couple of other quotes from others and I knew after that Stan was the right guy for the job. His numbers are very reasonable and I can tell he knew what he was doing. When it still didn't arrive, I figured they didn't want the project and weren't telling me, and I gave up and left a negative review. Then, I got the estimate and we exchanged a few normal and friendly emails with questions/clarifications. We became busy with the holidays after that, and many weeks later, they emailed us to ask if we still needed painting and asked us to remove the review. They sounded very eager to work with us and wanted to deliver a great project. We responded a couple months later, which is not ideal, but to be fair, exterior painting wasn't on our minds in winter and we were very distracted by the election and subsequent events. We wanted to work with them and spent an hour carefully looking at the estimate again and making sure our remaining questions were written out. We had already discussed most of them with Big Dog, so there were only a couple new things we asked them to clarify. We sent the email, and their response was that they had decided it was best for all involved that they remove themselves from consideration. We were very confused because the only thing that happened between now and a couple months ago was the passing of time. We asked if they could clarify why they were now dropping out. They basically just said when we didn't respond to their request to remove the review, they took it as a learning opportunity and moved on and decided they couldn't deliver good results. We emailed them back and said we were really disappointed and still very confused, and reiterated that we were willing to update or remove the review since we did eventually get the estimate and they had responded to emails quickly. We got no response. We feel that our time recently was wasted, we're guessing there's another reason they don't want the job and aren't telling us, and we no longer feel they're interacting with us in good faith. Doing a job shouldn't be contingent on a truthful review being removed.
