I've been here a few times now since it opened, probably 4 times. I think I've given it enough chances. It doesn't do a very good job. It doesn't seem to get my Jeep any cleaner than any of the $3 gas station washes in town. It leaves a lot of dirt on the back of my Jeep. It doesn't even clean up close around the washer fluid sprayers on my hood. It just doesn't get my Jeep very clean. At all. On top of that, it pushes you through the drying section too fast to get rid of the water. Sure, it's blowing at you at 90mph, but you only get about 5 seconds worth of dry time. They offer 4 levels of wash. I've done at least 3 of them and I haven't noticed a difference in quality between the cheapest and the 'deluxe' version. None of them get my Jeep clean. I was hopeful when this was announced. I'm now officially disappointed. I'd love to see something more like Mr. Car Wash in Des Moines where they'll actually hand dry it for you. I can get a much better wash and air dry many places in Ames/Huxley at a better price than this. I really wanted this to be better. read more

$4 wash, yes please! Staff always there to help you navigate the process. Cute little entryway. Wash does the trick and quickly. Dryer does a decent job. Easy to get in and out of as it can be a busy street. Staff very friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend this place! Wonder if they have a loyalty card/club? read more

Manager had so many ridiculous excuses trying to shrug responsibility from the car wash. -"Kid sat on your car hood" -"The car wash brushes don't reach the hood of your car" ...Really? I tried them out today... It's better than the Sudsational wash. The machines at Sudsational could never get under the wing, for some reason the Tornado car wash machines could clean that part... There were an actual attendant to help you instead of just dealing with machines and there is someone there to do the initial water rinse. I like it, I have an interesting experience overall. read more

Wow, the customer service and hospitality of the workers is exceptional. By far, the staff care and want to do everything in their power to make sure you're satisfied customer. Really nice staff, I paid the extra $2 for the bug clean off because I had roughly a million bugs from a night drive I took the day before and pretty much every single bug was cleaned off. It was amazing! I got into the wash and something malfunctioned and I ended up getting a rewash from them. Like I said, the staff was very nice and friendly and I'm super thankful for their attention to detail and cleaned off all the bugs on my car. read more

I was really surprised at how bad the wash was. I bought the $12.00 wash. After the dryer I had to turn on the wipers to see out the window. Then I seen all the water still left on the hood. I then pulled over and walked around my vehicle and noticed the top half was washed. However, the bottom was not even close to being clean. This vehicle is washed every two weeks and is never on gravel and is in the garage every night. Please don't waste your time or money at this car wash! read more

I love how quickly they can get you in and out. For the money that you spend it's the best car wash experience around.

Rip off alert. Paid 14.00 auto carwash lasted less than one minute. Dryer turned on, then off immediately, so car soaking wet. Grime dripping off hood. Not only not clean, but the brushes marred my drivers door. "Free" dryers barely have suction. Nothing good to say about this car wash. read more

I have now been twice and have been disappointed both times. Stick with the sudsational touch free washes here in Ames. This car wash missed a lot of spots on my tailgate and sides of the bed. Maybe it just doesn't handle large trucks very well. read more

Staff was nice enough, but the wash was terrible. I don't live on gravel and do mostly highway driving (ie not a super dirty car) and when I got home there was a swath on the passenger side that didn't look like it had been touched. The top was also only half washed. I had expected a better wash for something with such strong advertising. read more

I would strongly discourage anyone from going to the Tornado carwash located on 220 South Duff Avenue. While going through the carwash, one of their machines broke the driver's side mirror on my truck. Unfortunately, the attendant failed to inform me that I would need to fold in my mirrors. To add insult to injury, the manager (Randy) said they would be willing to cover the repair costs - but then later said it was actually my fault and that there was simply nothing that they could do about it. And finally, I should note that the wash doesn't even get your car very clean. I had to send my truck through the machine twice to get the dirt off (the mirror incident happened the second time through). Bottom-line: I would recommend going to one of the other washes in town - your car will get cleaner and will not be damaged in the process. read more

I took my car to this car wash after seeing ads everywhere...I paid the extra $2.00 for the "hand" attention. A guy stepped out of the building and sprayed down the passenger side of my car. I had paid for this because I thought they might look at the front bumper for bugs...WRONG...I got over to Target and checked out the car. Still had bugs on the bumper. When I was done in Target I went back and complained. They said they were short handed so they couldn't do the whole car...then don't take my money. They said they would run it through again but it probably wouldn't help! Not very good customer...I think I should have insisted on a refund! read more
